Just a reminder for all our ODAC posters (and anyone else who's interested) that the 2013 ODAC Pick-'ems is up and running. No Friday games in week 1 so you have until noon Saturday to join the fun.

glad to see you back skoaltrain.  looking forward to a fun season.  think I am making the trip to see you guys play Randolph, I have never seen them play and it will be early Nov. so the scenery on the ride should be pretty nice.  talk to you soon.

Its good that TREADSTONE finally got finished with Skoal.  Killing, running around with hot chicks all day gets old

I was looking at  Averett's roster.  They have a player that started at Mt Union in 2008, transferred and played at White Water in 2010 and 2011 and in 2013 is now at Averett. I'm sure it is all compliant but can anyone explain how you get to stretch a college career 6 years in D3?
Hampden Sydney College
ODAC Champions 77, 82, 83, 87, 07, 09, 11, 13, 14
NCAA Playoffs - 77, 07, 09, 10, 11, 13, 14
The "Game" 60 wins and counting...
11/18/2018 Wally referred to me as Chief and admitted "I don't know about that!"

I think I know. But sounds like a malcontent.  ;)

unlike d1 (and maybe d2) which has a "clock" that starts when a student-athlete enrolls in college, eligibility is only used at the d3 level when you play/practice

Guilford had a 45 yo on the roster about 12 years ago.  He had played some out of HS and always regretted not using all his eligibility.  He was an adult student in the night program, approached the Coach about playing and went out for the team. If I remember correctly, he was the Fire Chief at a local Fire Department, so the younger players called him "Chief".

There are reasons for everything but to play out your career at three different schools is unusual at best.
I'm certain he is a very good player having played for the two top programs in D3; how did he find Averett? Not exactly close
nor have much in common with the previous two schools.

Mt. Union won the National Championship in 2008 and UWW won in both 2010 and 2011.  Maybe he's chasing a 4th with the Cougars.  :)

(Updated to include 2013) Seventeenth annual Soup Bowl at Greensboro (Grimsley HS) this Saturday at 1 pm.  If past tradition holds, you get in for a nonperishable food donation to the local food bank.  Here are some numbers from the intracity rivalry:

Year*   GCQ   GCP   Winner
1997   46   7   Guilford
1998   7   27   Greensboro
1999   15   14   Guilford
2000   20   35   Greensboro
2001   14   15   Greensboro
2002   21   7   Guilford
2003   7   13   Greensboro
2004   7   28   Greensboro
2005   36   35   Guilford
2006   36   30  2OT   Guilford
2007   41   35   Guilford
2008   22   12   Guilford
2009   7   12   Greensboro
2010   15   17   Greensboro
2011   27   7   Guilford
2012   13   14   Greensboro
2013    31   28  Guilford

Total   365   336
Home Record   3-5   3-6
Away Record   6-3   5-3
Series Record   9   8

* Odd years at Greensboro, even years at Guilford.  Greensboro forfeited one of their wins, but I can't remember which - perhaps 2009, so there's a question of whether 9-8 or 10-7.

Four games decided by 1 point, one game by 2 points, one game by 3 points and one in 2OT with a 25-yard TD pass.  Ten games decided by a touchdown or less.  I've seen them all.

You might want to contribute a D3report video for that game! I'd have to think you and Dave Walters would be among the only people to see all 16 of those games. :)

Thanks, Pat.  I'll mention it to Dave.  Perhaps a video is a possibility.  :)  One of the key benefits from the games is the amount of food contributed to fill Greensboro-area needs ... it's been approaching 10,000 cans (or more) per game the last few years, so I'm sure the total is over 100,000 cans.  I want Guilford to win, of course, but I always feel good win or lose when they announce the food totals.

Sounds good. Would love to see you on camera talking about the outcome of the game, what a great rivalry it is and what the Soup Bowl is about. :)
