Playoff week for the Cats!  Win and they are in... lose and turn in their gear...

Hopefully they will have a great week of practice and come into the game executing in all 3 phases!

Am not sure who I want to see at QB... Eaton or McNabb... McNabb gives us a dual threat QB.. Eaton looks to throw the ball a bit better...

Looking forward to playing PLU this Saturday and then the season comes down to win or stop playing the last week of the season... guys need to be sharp in all 3 phases of the game... big test this Saturday as it is a classic look ahead game and then what looks to be a shootout vs the Pirates...

Would love to see McNabb at qb... he reminds me of Riddle...

Related to the question someone posted about the lack of participants on this thread as compared to years past, as a long-time participant on this board, it seems to me that the lack of any year-in, year-out, in-conference competition has kept new posters from engaging and has resulted in guys who used to post quite often doing other things with their time... we don't have 3-4 posters from Whitworth, Pacific, Fox, PLU, etc. to keep things interesting. (speedybigboy from PLU, BearCat Press from Willamette, the Rat guy from Whitworth).

I'd also say that with Wildcat11's evolution away from being such a reliable source of in-depth coverage, people may have stopped paying as much attention.  We had it so good for all the years that he was so involved with posting and covering the program. Such great content each week for so long!

There is also somewhat of a sense of a ceiling being reached... we'll compete for the NWC crown each year, likely have a good chance of hosting a winnable Round 1 game with the possibility of a 2nd round game at home... then off to the D2 program of UMHB which simply has had athletes with no business at D3 year after year... Add in the excitement around the Ducks and Beavers and many guys likely aren't paying attention like they were in the past...

We might also have some newer posters not feel included after they post a few times with the possibility of getting replies to what they post from long-time Cat posters.

It was good to see L&C give such a solid outing on offense...  that is the most competitive that they have been with us for many years... their offense figured out something after the first few possessions and were able to move the ball on our D to an extent that they haven't been able to do.  Our offense did well.. nice to see Slifka get some tough catches over the middle and then fight for extra yards... he was used in a different manner than our typical wideouts...

Two huge road wins to start the season... always difficult to play at Redlands and a trip to Denison was a program first.  The defense has done a good job and I expect it to get better week to week as the DL gets more confidence and the secondary tightens up.  The offense is struggling which is somewhat to be expected given what we are replacing on the O-line.

3 bye weeks coming up before a big game at home vs Fox... need to use those weeks to get the offense tuned up..

I remember that from 1990-93, we had football practice from 3-6.  We had an hour to hustle over to Dillon as we had to get to film sessions by 7.  I don't remember there ever being an issue related to quality or quantity of food at Dillon.  I could see an Admin person thinking that cost-cutting at the dining hall looked good on paper. I'd hope that Dillon is ran with an eye towards the budget as well as an eye towards nutritious food options.

What is frustrating is that the students, who are all adults, should be advocating for themselves rather than have mommy and daddy fight their battles for them.  At some point, parents have to let their children "adult" rather than try and solve all of their issues for them.

I'd like to see a lot of pre-snap motion and then motion at the snap of the ball.. kind of like the Canadian football but east-west vs north-south... I am seeing a whole bunch of this type of movement in both college and the NFL... Get Valadez and Wolfe moving at the snap after adjusting multiple bodies prior to the snap...

Call it a look ahead game... call it a great offensive and defensive scheme by our opponent... call it what you want it was still a great win for Linfield.  I was very impressed by all aspects of PP except for their punt game as that killed them all day.  Their QB was a stud and their guys made plays all day.  I've been to a lot of Linfield games and never have I seen us use all 3 time-outs in the third quarter, they had us so off our game.

If I am the Linfield offensive coordinator, I'm finding ways to get #9, Joel Valadez, the ball 20 times a game as good things happen when he has the ball in his hands.  Quick screens, jet sweeps, anytime there is 1x1 coverage, let's get him the ball... he is quick, shifty, sure handed, gets yards after catch, does a good job of getting in there and blocking, looks for the extra yard but doesn't take unnecessary hits, and isn't a threat to get Unsportsmanlike penalties like his two running mates.  Every time he comes off the field rather than Murray or Smith I shake my head.  He is our best offensive threat and from what I can tell is the best blocker of the three.   He made the play of the game on the 3rd and short by adjusting to a ball and making a great catch. If he doesn't make that catch, we are punting up 30-24 and who knows what happens.

Guys have got to make plays... both on D and O.  Next weeks QB sounds like PP's but better.

Great job on our kicking game was it was awesome to see our FG unit be spot on, punt and punt coverage do their job, and punt rush kick butt.

Go Cats!

Oh... and I watched the game when I got home and would have to agree that our play by play guy does yell a bit... love the enthusiasm but it could be toned down a bit and still get the message across.  McGarvie does a great job as color... I like how they aren't homers like so many radio guys are...

Excited to see a brand new opponent in Pomona-Pitzer.  Given the battles that we have had with the SCIAC over the past few seasons, I'm expecting a tough game.  Aside from the blowout of Redlands at the start of 2021, the SCIAC teams have played us tough.  It will be a great test and everyone needs to be laser focused on this Saturday.

As for the seedings, the reality of it is that we need to NWC to step up and I just don't see that happening at Lewis & Clark, Willamette, and UPS.  We need to have Fox, Whitworth, PLU, and Pacific continue to get better and get some out of the West Coast wins against Top 25 programs.  Given what I have observed over the past several seasons, there are 3 schools who seem likely to drop football and or simply forfeit their games against Linfield in future seasons. We likely lost the #1 seed because of the strength of our conference.  Maybe if Fox hadn't lost to PLU and had been in the regional rankings that would have been enough.  Oh well... nothing we can do expect focus on Saturday's opponent.

We all need to be really thankful that we are fans of a school that supports football from the Board on down.  We have 3 prime examples in our conference of schools that simply do not care about football.

Hats off to the Fox defense! Linfield started on Fox's side of the field many, many, many times and came away empty handed too many times to count.  We kept wanting to run the ball when it wasn't going anywhere and they were giving us short passes.... definitely not our game callers best game... take what the d is giving and quit trying to force the run...

Good to see us have to deal with adversity and take care of business in a hostile environment.

I guess I am wrong, but the continued penalties for unsportsmanlike behavior is beyond old.   I'd like to see guys lose playing time when they get an unsportsmanlike penalty NO MATTER the provocation.  Make them sit for a quarter or half or in one guy's case, an entire game.

We have two games where we are going to have to stay sharp as they can be look ahead games... I'm not worried about winning but rather not being mentally sharp as well as having needless injuries.  I want McNabb to be held out of practice for the next two weeks to try and get him healthy as he is banged up.  Morton's hamstring injury looked pretty serious.  We have great depth at RB which is going to be needed.

I saw the block in both real time as well as on the replay and in today's game, it definitely was a penalty.  The game is trying to get rid of blind side blocks that are led by the shoulder or forearm and this particular block was thrown by his shoulder.  In year's past, a legal block.  Today, illegal.

I can remember the famous punt return in the playoffs where there were 3 different players laid out on blind side blocks with each seemingly a harder hit then the last.  I for one am glad that the game is moving on from allowing contact like that especially with what we know about head trauma.

Am not happy with the volume of unsportsmanlike penalties by the Wildcats... is it sheer arrogance?  Is it lack of accountability?  Is it lack of repercussions?  These are 100% selfish penalties and need to stop.  I have zero idea why #3 was still in the game after ripping off the DB's helmet.  We have lots of depth at WR and both he and #4 needed to have sat for a long time after their respective penalties... but they were quickly back in the game...

I also do not care how much junk was talked by the other team... let your play do your talking.

I always think back to the unsportsmanlike penalty against UMHB the last time we beat them... we were dead down 21-0 and just missed on 3 and 10... their DB gave the fingers across the throat motion to our bench, got a 15 yard penalty for it... we ended up scoring to make is 21-7, next drive for them we re recovered a fumble and scored to make it 21-14 and a brand new game... if that DB hadn't done what he did, we were going to be down 28-0 and game over... he cost his team the game by being selfish...

Looks like a good one coming up against the Lutes... hopefully we will show up ready to play smart, disciplined football.

I liked the onside... I'd like us to do more tricky plays with our special teams...

The officials are doing a great job... it is our players and coach that are in error... the unsportsmanlike on Coach Smith is inexcusable in that situation... the taunting penalty on our wr is inexcusable... the unsportsmanlike on #3 in inexcusable...

Pacific has changed their D after our two long drives and we need to adjust... they are bringing more pressure...
