Former Union coach in at Bates.  Rumors that she picked Bates over Bowdoin, interesting choice.

Anyone know enough to put out a preseason power ranking?  Would be very interested to read.

PLAYOFF PICTURE

So her what I can garner, let me know if anyone can sprad other insight.

BOWDOIN v TUFTS

Winner locks up a home game between #2 and #4 seed, loser goes on the road as #5 or #6.

COLBY v BATES

Bates locks up a home game with a win, a loss could man they go on the road as #5 or #6 after the tie break spin cycle.

Colby lock up a playoff road game with a win and risk missing the tournament if they lose with a Midd win on tie break?

HAMILTON v CONN

Basement battle, though sure it means a lot to the players and coaches involved.

WESLEYAN v WILLIAMS

Williams could jump to a home game with a win and losses above them by Bates, Amherst, Bowdoin or Tufts?  Go on the road with a loss.

AMHERST v MIDD

Amherst lock up a home game with a win, could have locked up anyway pending Saturday results with this gam a day later.  Maybe slip to #5 with a loss and other results going against them?

Midd could be eliminated before game if  Wesleyan win, get in they win and Wes lose, or maybe on there way if Colby and Wes lose?  Could be some nervous eves on this game from Wesleyan.

We are interested in D3 yes, but realize D1 is a higher level of competition.  So when things like level of player come up D1 a very relevant comparison.  To suggest a player is on the bottom third of a USSDA roster is more unmotivated than a top end non-USSDA player holds no weight at all for me.

Not all turn out to be studs, but I do not understand the resistance to the train of thought that USSDA is superior to non-USSDA.  All question marks (motivation, not all pan out) are not USSDA problems, they are teenage kid problems.  I would guess every NESCAC school wants USSDA kids very year, and many D3 teams can't touch them.

Certainly doesn't tell you about hunger, but what does?  I think you summarize it by saying a USSDA player is a safe bet and likely a good to very good player.  It is also true that a USSDA consistently practice and plays against better competition.  It is also a recruiting status symbol if you will to attract those kids widely perceived as D1 territory.

If you use the All-American lists for all 3 divisions would be interesting yes.  Silly just to use D3 though.  The division attracts less USSDA players, so there will be less in the Al-American team proving not much at all.  In D1, I expect the vast majority to be USSDA.

Some quotes about Midd from me below.  More balanced than you give credit for.  Just because someone disagrees on some point doesn't mean they are out to get you.

"Best Player:  Dylan Sinnickson (Midd)"

"Best Low-Post Scorer:  Dylan Sinnickson (Midd) or Hunter Sabety (Tufts)"

"As for Sinickson, amazing performance."

"UMFK 71 MIDDLEBURY 62

Fort Kent are always better than they appear in athletics.  They have international pipelines and looser admission standards.  Thy lost by 2 to Bates a few years back, and their soccer team destroyed Middlebury in a scrimmage a couple of years back.  An upset for sure, but maybe not as bad as it appears."

Negative comments and anti Midd?  Pretty sure at one point I believed Sinnickson was the best inside player in the league no?  I do not rate St Amour as highly based on what I have seen.  I rate Sabety very highly, Wohl did not play well when I watched and think the Trinity coach is doing a fantastic job.  Thought Bowdoin were fantastic last night and said so, Hausman and Swords praised highly.

What is particularly negative about my comments?  Seems more likely you disagree with me rather than I am consistently negative.  I simply state what I see good and bad.

Not sure about the Boston Bolts comment.  The Tufts starting goalkeeper came from that academy.  If you read through D1 commitment pages, it is very obvious the better college players are coming from the USSDA system.  While there are exceptions, the concentration of talent is far higher and therefore kids are more college ready in most cases.  Seacoast recently produced freshman starters at Northeastern and Dartmouth.

What a truly sad story that is.  Thoughts and prayers out to this girl as she gets herself in a good place life wise.

Wouldn't consider a kid who went off for 20 points a fifth best option Bucket no.  I would if he went 0 for 7 though and kids are not fixed game to game, can play badly and you don't need to defend them when they do.  St Amour is certainly not Midd's best player.  We could ask if the Midd fans still think Bates are worse than last year and only beat 9th placed Midd because of illness?  Perhaps we should drop the cheap crowing and move on?

Fantastic performance from Hausman tonight, very quick player slashing to the basket and enjoyable to watch.  Freed up massively by the presence of Swords inside.  Very impressive in the flesh even if the stats aren't blowing people away.  The Delpeche brothers have got the best of Sabety and Wohl so far this season, Swords very much dominated inside though.  Bowdoin look to be getting hot for the playoffs.

Tough on for Bates today.  Kept it close right to the end before yet another loss.  Sadly looking like a winless ear for the 'Cats.  Very different story to the mens side!

Bates pulls out a nail biter, 73-71 over Hamilton.  The atmosphere in Alumni Gym is electric of late and Bates are 12-0 at home, I would guess they are heading towards a playoff game there also.

Furbush started some backups I guessing due to senior day?  Seemed a bold move but they just keep winning.  Boornazian came off the bench but was fantastic start to finish and outplayed Safford today.  Lin hurt his knee in the first half and was a non-event for the whole game.  Jack Dwyer the best player for Hamilton and took some baiting from the crowd for his resemblance to Sunshine of Remember the Titans fame!

You can add one more USSDA to the NESCAC scoreboard.  The Bates soccer facebook page talks about Andrew Munoz of Dallas Texans as an incomer, has a photo of the kid playing against FC Dallas.

Just catching up here and some excellent insight on the bates v Williams game I agree with.  Wohl is a very impressive shooter, surprised at his lack of physical dominance in this game.  The delpeche brothers from bates struggled with sabety of tufts, they thoroughly beat wohl to the ball all night in the air.  Williams #24 was also a quality player.

Attending bates v hamilton and looking forward to seeing Lin.

Could Williams really miss the tournament?!
