What quick succession of coaches?

Honestly, I could not remember anything prior to Coach Wardle, so I when I said quick succession, I was just assuming that Green Bay had indeed gone through coaches rather quickly and not necessarily for good reasons as previously mentioned.

That does not appear to be the case.

The sense I have gotten asking around is while coaches have moved on seemingly to good jobs ... they were also looking to get out of UWGB. Just the sense I have gotten in conversations I have had in the region.

UW GB to pay Darner $720,000 over the next 3 years. They really must have wanted him gone to knowing that it could have cost them that much.  It will be like paying 2 coaches for the next  3 years.

That was quite a contract. It basically rewarded sustained mediocrity (a top 4 finish in the Horizon League) with a year's extension every time it occurred. It made sense to get out of that deal for the school, especially if there's no evidence the team would achieve anything better than continued mediocrity under Darner. But jeez, whoever thought that extension made sense on the university's side when they agreed to it in '18, I'd like to have them over for my next poker game.

Wow. Kind of a bad look for UWGB when a D3 guy withdraws.... but sure is a nice look for SNC.

To be honest, I don't think that is right. I was on the fence. There were reasons I thought Gary would stay at SNC, but there were other reasons I could see him taking the job. I just didn't feel it was a no brainer. I think it was a very difficult decision to make.

WBAY TV has speculated that Will Ryan (Bo's son) will be named UW Green Bay's new head coach. Ryan is now head coach at Wheeling University a D2 school in West Virginia. He was an assistant at North Dakota and Ohio University under Saul Phillips.
