Baseball America is rolling out its annual top 10 organizational prospect lists. Alvernia's Zach Lutz was deemed to have the best power in the Mets system.

He's the only D3 guy mention so far, but BA is only five teams (NL East) into its rundown.

Some hot stove transactions:
Joe Nathan signed with the Rangers as a free agent.
Vinny Rottino signed with the Mets as a MiLB free agent.
The Blue Jays claimed Cole Kimball off waivers, but the Nationals reclaimed Kimball on waivers two days later.

These are very, very tough and emotional times for a lot of guys in Milb.
After working their a$$e$ off since last September/October, they have about 3 weeks to prove they belong and to find a slot on an active roster for the MILB season starting in about 7-8 days.
Getting released right now is just tough. All that hard work and effort and a short meeting to learn this is the end.
You see players with their wives and young families, players in their late 20's and early 30's, high round picks from a few years back all facing the news that their days of playing the game of baseball might well be done. For a few, it is good news because they become a free agent and might catch on in a better situation.
That is a small group of the large numbers getting released at this point.

Because of their age and competition they faced in college most D3 players get 1-2 years to prove themselves in MILB.  D3 players can make it but the odds are very high.
This... is a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball.  "There are three types of baseball players: those who make things happen, those who watch it happen, and those who wonder what happened."
