Cavs Will Shock You

It is the middle of the summer and players are already starting to get back into shape. But what is going on with the coaches?

Eliazabeth Brown

Good luck to Kate Franks as she begins her first season as Assistant coach at Wilkes.  She was a great player at Bucknell! I wish you much success.

Chris Panter, GMC SID

Gwynedd-Mercy defeated Alvernia, 80-76, for their first win on the season Wednesday night in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action.

Freshman Lauren Healy scored 18 points to lead Gwynedd-Mercy. She was one of four Griffins to finish in double digits as GMC avenged a loss to the Crusaders in last year's PAC Championship game.

Tashieka Kennedy led all scores with 26 points and 14 rebounds.

Forward Jackie Dougherty hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to end the first half giving Gwynedd-Mercy (1-3, 1-0 PAC) a 37-29 lead at halftime. The sophomore finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

Freshman Karen Tierney then connected on her only trey of ths night with just under 13 minutes in the game to give Gwynedd-Mercy its biggest lead of the night, 48-35.

Alvernia (4-2, 0-1 PAC) rallied to get within two, the latest coming at 78-76 with just 10 seconds remaining before Tierney iced the game by sinking two free-throws.

Sophomore Michelle Sgrillo netted 15 points and seven boards while senior Candice Ober chipped in 14 points and six rebounds.

It is time to find out who is in... and who is out.
Whose bubble has been burst and who is wearing Cinderella's glass slippers.
It's Selection Sunday... and tonight there will be a special "http://www.d3hoops.com/hoopsville">Hoopsville" as the 2005 NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball Brackets are announced... LIVE on our air!
The Road to Salem and Virginia Beach officially starts tonight!

It plans to be a huge night... as 50 womens and 48 mens teams are officially invited to the dance and a chance at a national title.

Some teams already know they are going (thanks to winning their conferences) and some think they are going, but there are always surprises.

So tonight, we will break it all down. Starting at 8:30 PM EST, we will take a look at who is definitely in, who might make it, who will be disappointed, and what match-ups you might want to look forward to seeing later in the week.

Then at 10:00 PM EST... we will broadcast LIVE the Women's Selection Show so you can find out when we do... the 50 teams on the Road to Virginia Beach.

That will be followed by the Men's Selection Show at 10:30 PM EST - when 48 teams find out what their Road to Salem will be like.

After those selections... we will go over it with a fine-tooth comb and find out who we think are the surprises!

And throughout the show, we will hear from different regions with live reports and talk to coaches that have made surprising moves into the tournament.

Of course, you can listen in thank to http://www.goucher.edu/radio">Goucher College.

Holy cow, it's been almost a year since someone posted in this room.

The playoffs are set for this week with the following pairings:

2006 Women's Basketball Championships

Tuesday, February 21 (Quarterfinal)
Game One: TBA - #6 Neumann at #3 Immaculata
Game Two: 6:00 p.m.- #5 Cabrini at #4 Alvernia

Thursday, February 23 (Semifinal)
TBA - Winner of Game One at #2 Wesley
TBA - Winner of Game Two at #1 Gwynedd-Mercy

Saturday, February 25 (Final)
7:00 p.m. - Two Remaining Teams at Higher Seed

When is the last time that four teams from the South Division made the playoffs?  Maybe, never.
The person who says something can't be done shouldn't stand in the way of the one who's doing it.

Where are the PAC fans?  The PAC always plays little sister to the big bad MAC and this site is evidence of that.  Speak up PAC fans!

The PAC has a great shooter coming in from Harcum College named  Alana Rumpel. Alana played great for Gwynedd-Mercy for two years, can't wait to see her play. I'm just a fan of Alana's wish her luck.

Pat Coleman

I'm confused -- coming from Harcum to where?

Alana was a great shooter for Harcum College. She will be playing for Gwynedd-Mercy this year. Sorry my mistake.

The lady Cavs are doing Cabrini proud ! !

Bobbi Morgan has them playing well except for a few mistakes.

Knocking off Stockton, Wesley was no fluke.... just hope they can tear up Alvernia when the time counts.

They are just getting better too ! !

Good job lady Cavs---------
