I'm looking at the 2017 football team roster on the Central Athletics site.  Looks like they have 92 players without showing any freshmen.

I went back 40 pages and found some posts from last Aug. 5th.

Last years Central roster showed 124 players without showing any freshman.  33 seniors, 44 juniors, 47 sophomores.  Most other conference rosters were in the 60-90 range.  Central does seem to have a huge roster.  Do they all get to dress for home games?
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

I am only a distant fan.  But it looks like the whole team dresses for home games.  I know more than a few numbers get twice.

I'm veerrryyyy interested in why the coaches are so low on BVU (they're projected ahead of Simpson in my model). They lost probably their best skill player on offense and their best defender, but they return EVERYBODY else. By far the most returning production in the conference. Anybody on here have thoughts? New coach syndrome? Did a lot of players leave because of the coaching change?

Being projected first by the coaches and my model is certainly a good omen for UD, but they're pretty far from a unanimous favorite here and in my model.

Give a listen to those coaches interviews I've linked.  Mollring mentions they lost all their carries from last year as Cody Mowery has left the program.  When asked about the running game, Mollring wouldn't answer, saying he would keep it close to the vest.  I think new coaching staff, changing to a spread offense, and low roster numbers caused the IIAC coaches to move BVU to the bottom of the conference in their poll.

I just started listening to those interviews over the weekend. Been on vacation with my fiance's whole family in Clear Lake this last week, so I didn't get much "free time" to myself to listen to DIII football podcasts.

If her family didn't throw you in the lake you must have made a favorable impression on them  ;)

So is this 1st weekend off going to become a permanent deal for Wartburg?  Is this the 3rd straight year for this?

We were using my family's boat, so I was the one driving all weekend. I had to be careful not to throw some of HER family in the lake.

Only the second year like this. I can't imagine it will become a regular occurrence, because if I know anything about Coach Willis, it's that he's fuming about losing out on a week of practice because of the Week 1 bye. Don't know if they'll be scrimmaging UWP again this year, but that was a sticking point among the staff last year--UWP was on the tail end of their camp when they scrimmaged, and Wartburg was on only about their second day of pads.

Does anyone know what happened to the Castle & the Coach podcast? I was curious if they were going to have any preseason coverage for the IIAC, and when I checked, their last post was in June.

Nice to see an IIAC school get an in depth article like that in the paper.  For a team to lose the majority of their defense, it's nice to bring back a talented O-line.  If your offense can grind out yards and stay on the field that really helps.  Coe will be an interesting story this year.

For anyone interested, I, and by I, I mean my wife, can run the pick-ems this year.  Tell your family, tell your friends, tell your enemies.  If you have any dirt on someone, blackmail them into doing the pick-ems this year.

Helpful hint...Dubuque will win all their games this year...so pick the Spartans each week and you will stand a decent chance of finishing near the top of the standings  ;)
