Congratulations to Trine!! Nice to have in essence 6 home games on the way to a national title, but it was certainly well deserved. Beating the #1 and #3 teams in the country is no small feat.

Quote from: TUAngola on March 09, 2024, 10:11:24 PMOH MY GOODNESS!!  I am still in shock.  :o

Will post tommorrow as I need to comprehend what I just witnessed.  Jubilation for the Thunder, heartbreak for the Pioneers.

That was UNBELIEVEABLE!! And now to be in the Final Four only 45 minutes from campus is quite a luxury.  Best of luck next weekend!

Jalen Overway held without a FG and scores only 3 points total. Calvin loses the turnover battle 16-3 and the game 69-62.

Great season, Knights!!

Quote from: Grutte Dirk on February 26, 2024, 09:26:19 AMA big Calvin fan told me Trine and Hope were final four quality teams-you you'd think the MIAA would get three in.

They will. But I think a more accurate statement is that all three have shown at times this year that they're capable of playing with/beating anyone. They're also all very capable of getting bounced on a cold shooting night. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the three make the final four. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them not survive the first weekend.
It pains me to say it, but I don't think Calvin shoots consistently well enough from 3 or the free throw line to make a deep run.  Guard play is typically paramount in tournament games, and I don't think Calvin matches up as well at this position as some other teams.

Does the MIAA get 3 teams in?

Schau gets pulled down on a mini-break with 9 seconds left outside the box.  Red card for Chicago defender.  Resulting free kick goes high and we are headed to PKs.

Akintade with a goal to tie it in the 57th minute for Calvin.

Looking back at the goal on the stream, I'm pretty confident that was Jacob Ryu who got the last touch from Foster Garrett's assist.
Yep.  Box score gave the goal first to Akintade, now to Garrett, but neither of those are correct.

Is Calvin not hosting because of travel rules?  Weren't they the #1 team in the region?

Calvin wins its 17th consecutive regular season MIAA championship with a 1-0 victory over Kalamazoo on Saturday night!

Wow, Calvin has a lot of height, 7 girls on the roster 6'0 or taller.
And no seniors.

Calvin defeats JCU 5-3. Was not able to attend or watch, so don't have many details. I know JCU has a lot of weapons on offense, so their 3 goals doesn't surprise me, although 1 was an own goal. Nice to see Calvin's offense wake up a bit.

I wonder how long its been since Calvin lost 2 in a row, much less 3 in a row.
2014 for 2 losses in a row, 2013 for 3.

Carthage 4, Calvin 2. Defense was some of the worst I have seen. Everything was way too easy for Carthage. The Knights need to get their act together soon.
