Bird, it was a throwaway line, not any type of commentary on the: Reformation/Inquisition/Baptists/dancing/priest scandal/Mary/ascension/proper use of condoms or any other religious thing.
Ha! Yep, that about covers it  :D

Will Bethel implement the forward pass into it's offensive scheme for 12-4-10? Isn't that play illegal  ???
Will Bethel continue to go for 2 pt. conversion or perhaps have faith in the kicking game. We have great faith in our punter   ;D
Would Johnson be kicking himself if UST prevails by a score of 14-12 with two failed 2pt. conversions? Maybe, but he was kicking himself when St. Thomas prevailed 10 - 6 on a missed PAT and field goal earlier this year

Can UST stop Flannery? The kid is sniffing 5K yards for his career. Johnson just starts the "Road Graders" and they keep grading the road and eating the clock. Actually, I think the sniffing is all over, pretty sure he achieved it on Saturday against Wheaton. If UST does shut Flannery down, they'll definitely walk away with the victory...but that was probably the game plan for Wartburg and Wheaton as well.

miacmaniac, you and your family are in our prayers. God Bless.

Ha!! Post of the year candidate...so if Mt. Union beats either NCC or UWW, they would be the best team in the state of Ohio...maybe even the Midwest?!? DIII is really impressive this year  ;D

FWIW, common opponents is only useful to a certain degree. Both teams won by a good margin. It would mean more if either NCC or UWW had lost to UWEC. Time of year matters, NCC and UWW have both certainly evolved and improved as teams since their UWEC games. Styles and team strengths/weaknesses all matter as well.

We'll see on Saturday. But given the way NCC's D is playing right now, you've got to at least give them a chance to be in this game in the 4th Q.

Coppage is just unreal: 38 carries for 304 yards and 3 TDs! Makes you wonder what his totals would be if they faced more close games during the regular season and didn't have two such great backups to spell him  ??? Anyone planning to beat the defending champs will have to find a way to stop the beast.

Great matchup next Saturday between NCC's rush defense and the UWW running game. The great debate over the #1 seed will now officially be decided on the field!

Good game, great season Cats.

West region was a beast again this year, and your squad was a no small part of that depth!

Reviewing the season stats for Augie in 86'.
an incredible 63 takeaways in 13 games.  Astounding.

Opponents gouged the Augie defense for a whopping 0.8 yards per carry and 2 TD's for the season.

Astounding is right, mind boggling might be even more accurate!?! I can't even get my head around those defensive stats. Combine that with the way they pounded the football and you can see pretty quickly why they were so dominant!

Classic playoff battle, nice game and season Wheaton.

Key stats

Time Of Possession: BU 37:50 - WC 22:10

3rd Down Conversions: BU 7 of 19 - WC 3 of 12

4th Down Conversions: BU 3 of 5 - WC 0 of 1

BU:81 total plays, 62 rushes, 3.9 per play - WC: 51 plays, but 4.2 per play

I'd say the Defense & Logan won the game for us. They had us shut down very well in the first half and had incredible field position. Something like 3 possessions that started in BU territory, but came away with 0 pts. The D kept it up in the 2nd half and BU O kept pounding away. It eventually wore them down. Their QB is going to be very good, only a sophomore. Our O-Line really struggled in pass pro today - having back-up LT in really hurt us - but we had more problems than just him today. Wheaton had a big D-Line and stacked the box all game. Their D was tough up the middle and very fast on the edge. Again, good game Thunder.

Gonna be a battle in St. Paul next week! Congrats Tommies on a big Win

George Thompson...classy.

FUMBLE.....UST recovers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All MIAC West Region finals!

Oz: 3rd road trip, but this one is a little closer to home!  :D

Congrats UST...hopefully I don't have to say that in 7 days  ;)

TD UST!! Tracy to Waldvogel...classic Tracy scramble and completion, Wartman with a great block to keep the play alive and Waldvogel finds the open spot.

...... 1st down Linfield to the 14 on their first play.

We like to complain about our kicking game at SJU however how pathetic is it for Bethel not to even have a guy that can kick an extra point.  They've been going for two since the St. Thomas game.... their kick off team looks pretty challenged too.

Developing...

I'll take Bethel's team over your kicking game any day  ;D  :o 8-)

----------------

Levell Coppage & Logan Flannery for 1st Team All-America? Back to back weeks in the playoffs that Logan has 140 yds against very good rush defenses, in addition to the go ahead TD catch in each game. And he now has over 5,000 yds rushing for his career.

Bethel wins 15 - 10

Stat line:

Bethel 240 yds rushing to 104 for Wheaton

108 yds passing to 78

Flannery: 141 yds rushing, 1 rec TD.

Bethel 62 rushes to 51 total plays for Wheaton.

This was a brutally physical game! Wheaton had a very good defensive line and very good speed on the edge. I think the Royals just wore them out as the game went on. Their QB was the most mobile I've seen this season. Flannery had another huge day for us.

Wheaton's broadcast was pretty good, wish the video guys would just stay zoomed out though. A couple big plays that you only saw the tail end of because they were too tight. Announcers called a good game though.

Cardiac arrest in Wheaton! Wow, talk about a punchers ballgame. Both teams just punished one another in the trenches all day long.

Says alot about both the CCIW and MIAC that these two very good teams were second in each of those conferences.

Nice game, great season Wheaton.

Mugsy...classy posts and fun to read your updates. It was a pleasure spending today on your board.

Best of luck NCC against UWW.

Oh, and #47, LB for Wheaton is pretty obnoxious. But your QB makes up for it with his ridiculous scrambling ability...
