Outside of basketball I think both schools would get murdered. My sister who goes to St. Norbert says there are talks at SNC about also changing to a university. Then you would be down to 8 teams. That would mean you could have 9 non-conference games and still be within MWC's limit of 23 games.

Roop, unless you've been secretly living on the west coast these past few years it looks like Beloit has passed you over for the AD position. If I would have to point to your downfall I would say it was the talk about your golf game.

Maranatha Baptist isn't on the list any more. They are in the Northern Athletics Conference who has a Pool A bid this year.

I think St. Scholastica should be on the list. They are a new program this year in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference with Martin Luther, Minnesota-Morris, and Northwestern (MN).

That's too bad, I liked the trapezoid

I see you're taking the no news is good news approach.

Looks like you won't be able to hold duel positions with the Lawrence job

I don't know how I feel about the 25% in region requirement for team/individual sports like cross country and track. It is in the middle of the article that Ralph Turner posted.

On one hand 25% doesn't sound terribly difficult to achieve but on the other hand you have none if any control on who comes to meets that aren't your own, that could make it difficult to achieve.

But that would take the equal access to the championship for every school. How do you know for sure that the NAthhCon champion won't be able to beat Mt. Union or Whitewater unless they meet on the field. By going to the ranking system it ensures more competitive first round games but you run the risk of leaving out a team from a weak conference who could actually win the national chhampionship. I'd rather have the blowouts knowing that every team had an equal chance of making it to the playoffs.

The rule just says that the conference has to have been in existence for 2 years. It never mentions that the conference has to have had the sport for 2 years.

(P. S. It'll take a while to get used to Marian's name change, eh?)

My mom works in the business office at Marian and she said that she has had a hard time getting used to answeing the phone as "Marian University"

Carroll is also changing to a university this summer and there are talks going on at St. Norbert about moving in that direction.

looks like we won't have the carroll vs. lawrence season finale anymore

The Board of Trustees at Carroll College have decided to change the name to Carroll University, effective July 1, 2008. The name will be phased in so there will be a gradual change of everything from "Carroll College" to "Carroll University."

i'll be fine with this one change as long as the MIAA doesn't change their name so they don't disenfranchise their indiana schools anymore.

"In the absence of the Pool A bid for the NATHC and Rockford, the regular season games that are the highest profile include the Carthage and IWU games, especially after the North Central and Augie losses."

The North Central loss is not a good one that is for sure, considering they just got swept by Martin Luther College, the only bad blemish for St. Scholastica. The Pool B is what intrigues me the most about the whole selection process, because there are probably 4 locks at this point and 3-4 teams battling for 2 spots. There is always Pool C but who wants to chance that.

these are different North Central's you're talking about. the team Rockford plays is North Central College near the Chicago area and is a member of the CCIW. the North Central Martin Luther swept is North Central University in the twin cities area and is a member of the NCCAA and i think may be a provisional member of the NCAA.
