One point that hasn't been mentioned is that Stevens Point was very successful in grabbing some of the top kids from the Oshkosh and Fox Valley areas in the past. Now that Oshkosh has greatly improved over the past few years, Stevens Point can no longer take the top few division 3 players in that area.

I would be interested in seeing a map of where the top 50 or so players in the state are coming from. My hunch is that there aren't nearly as many within an hour radius of Stevens Point as there has been in the state. Especially now that Oshkosh controls the east.

I haven't been following the UWSP academic programs closely, but is it accurate that they have been cutting academic programs over the past few years? If so, does that have anything to do with recruiting if fewer academic programs are now being offered for potential recruits?

No Titans game tonight, but you may want to head to Oshkosh anyway...

The incredible thing about Dragan Bender is that even though he's in his fourth year playing professionally, he's only 21 and could be playing college ball yet.

St. Thomas will "involuntarily'' leave conference no later than spring of 2021. Apparently, Tommies bowed to the certainty of being voted out by the needed nine of 13 conference school presidents.

On a different site, it was heavily discussed that St. Thomas will be going the division 2 route.

The Titans have a few spots to fill due to graduation if the Hauser brothers want to avoid having to sit out a year.  ;D

They would have their pick of National Championship programs to join, Virginia or UW-Oshkosh

If Gard can somehow pull this off, it would definitely cool his seat down and gave him a little more slack for the next two years.

How did Flynn get to UWO? Anybody know his track? D3 is full of guards and shooters, but bodies like his — especially with an athletic skill set — don't show up often here.

I know he is also an All-American thrower on the track team. Perhaps he thought this was the best place to succeed at both sports (although LAX and others have great track programs as well).

How did Jeff Skemp end up at Platteville?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 10 semester rule doesn't apply if your not a full time student. Meaning if you take less than 12 credits one semester it does not count as one of your ten semesters.

Or maybe he was academically ineligible to play at Oshkosh andthe Oshkosh staff was kind enough to keep that hush hush for Dan's sake. And in addition maybe his brother didn't have the grades to join him in Oshkosh but together they both could play at Point? People are always quick to rip on TVD for any mistakes but they never realize some of the things that go under the radar that he does to protect kids.

I see DeVon Jackson didn't play against Lawrence for the Pointers tonight.  Does someone know if he is hurt?  I figure Ziemer, Pohle and Johnston are still hurt considering they didn't play in the Purple/Gold game and didn't play tonight, even when Semling emptied the bench.

Per the radio broadcast last night, Jackson isn't eligible to play until after finals this first semester.  Also, Semling didn't expect to have Ziemer until late December or January either.  Not sure about Pohle or Johnston.

All four were in street clothes on the bench. Missing was Jared Jenkins.

Did you make the trip to Apple Town?  If so, what were your impressions (general, versus the purple/gold game, etc)?

Hurd, Krull and Hoelzel look to have the same game skills as last year, but Lou seems a little quicker on his feet. Harris is just so quick and defensively looks to pick your pocket if you dribble too much. He gets into trouble sometimes driving into the lane and not leaving himself a good path for an outlet. Dan Tillema had an off shooting night, rushing some shots in the offense  but he will come around. Off the bench Tyler Tillema impressed me with his poise and his defense on both bigger and smaller foes and offensively didn't force any shots. Gio was money from downtown. Ritchay was capable, but Brezinski was lost on defense, giving up 3 easy baskets in his 4 minutes. LU has a nice team for being so young. I know they were picked 8th in the MWC, but they may surprise some folks there. #24 Siebert played real well until Point switched to Krull against him.

Was Tillema ever at UW-Oshkosh?  I could have swore he was going there a few years back.

Dan Tillema accpeted a scholarship to U-Duluth.  Played there a half-semester and then transaferred to UWO.  He did not play there and decided to transfer to UWSP to play along with his brother.

Maybe it was the rigorous academics at UW-Oshkosh that caused him to move on ?

Dan wanted to play with his brother.  And he wanted a chance to play for a championship.  He accomplished both last year.

Who played for WHITEWATER Pioneer Hoops?

The new floor in Williams Center is complete.  Photos may be seen here....http://www.uwwsports.com/news/2010/3/22/MBBALL_0322101637.aspx?path=wbball

Negri, Free, Edmunds, and I think Lucas Burns...could be wrong on that one.

Kori Vernon also played, along with someone else who I'm not quite sure who he was.  They had 6 guys both days and that is about all I could tell you.

Did Oshkosh have Marsh if Whitewater had Vernon?

I'm going to go out on a short limb and say Randall will be a finalist for the UW-Superior position.

So what's next for the Pointers?

1. Do they have the returning talent to challenge for a repeat?
2. Will their cocahing staff remain in tact?
3. Does Semling emerge from the shadow of the Bennett's?
4. Does Jared Jenkins' 2-sport activities jeaprodizes what could UWSP's most important returning basketball player next season?
5. Does UWW and other WIAC schools derail UWSP's repeat attempt?
1.  They have to replace Moses and Forman, which won't be easy, but other than that, everyhting else returns.
2.  I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that both Semling and Randall will be back.
3.  Never really felt he was in Benett's "shadow...."
4.  It didn't seem to affet the basketball team much this year....
5.  Doubt it....  Even if Point doesn't garner the Pool A bid, I would think they will still earn a post-season bid with a solid regular season which would put them in position to repeat.

I heard rumors to this a few weeks ago but I was going to wait until after the final four. But the rumor I heard was that Ziemer will be back at Point and playing next season and that this season was simply an unoffical red shirt year for him.

Anyone know if Ziemer is going to play at Point next year or if he's even still in school?
It's my understanding that both Gregory and Ziemer are going to Oshkosh.
I do know that the Gregory kid had enrolled at UWO second semester so that would seem logical, however I hadn't heard anything regarding Ziemer.  I will see what I can find out about on that end.

Ran into Ziemer at one of the games this past weekend.  Had a brief conversation with him.  He is still attending UWSP.  I asked him what his plans where for next season and he said if nothing changes he will be right here (UWSP).

That was the extent of the conversation.  I am not really sure what happened this season and why he isn't on the team, but he made it sound like the he will be playing next year.  Just thought I would pass on the info.

Also Point is getting a transfer next year...Devon Jackson (already enrolled this spring) who played high school ball in Milwaukee (King I think).

Doesn't leave a whole lot of room for newcomers considering they only have 3 seniors.
