I'm not saying they did or didn't have the best OL. I do recall reading an article that said they had one of the top OLs in the country statistically at some point in the season, and that at some point late in the year they had only given up one or two sacks and were the top rushing team in the league. I honestly don't remember where I had read it, or I would link the article. Either way, their group was more qualified to win all NESCAC honors than anyone on the Wesleyan or Bowdoin OL, which is the point that I was making. Not sure what that has to do with Trinity at all, but I also don't want to hear Trinity fans beating their chest about anything when they can't even acknowledge that they're not the real NESCAC champs. And before all the Trin fans get huffy again, just know that if you're going to quote some technicality in the tie breaker rules or whatever, then you also know deep down that you don't deserve to call yourselves champions, and you're using it as an excuse to justify your LOSS to the rightful champions. Which is incredibly weak.

Scoops,
Best OL in the country? I do not believe Tufts had the top OL in the NESCAC.  Trinity's OL gave up fewer sacks than Tufts OL and Tufts had the most athletic and best running and scrambling QB in the conference.  Also, I suspect in most fourth quarters that Trinity subbed in back up OL in addition to back up skill players, and still gave up fewer sacks than Tufts with a less mobile QB.  Trinity also gave up fewer sacks with 24 more passing attempts than Tufts. Lastly, Trinity's OL lead the way to 44 points per game versus 31 points per game for Tufts.  Again, this is despite the fact Trinity took their foot off the gas pedal in most fourth quarters, if not earlier.

ALMA, please don't leave your great effort in Alliance.  Bring it again and again....

This is my great fear and hope, as well. Winning at Alliance is awesome, but if they lay an egg back in Alma, the narrative will forever be about Mount's miscues and fourth quarter collapse and not Alma's opportunistic victory. I really hope they're able to win at home against a very good Cortland team and then show well against Johns Hopkins or Randolph Macon. It would be so cool to get a home quarterfinal win and have everyone talking about Alma's magical season and not Mount's second second-round exit in 5 years.

Hopefully they ride a surge of confidence into Saturday and get a great crowd out to support them.  They can win the region if they play like they did in Alliance.  First up, beat Cortland.  I'll be pulling for the Scots.

Yeah, I also thought Walker came back in the game.  I remember being surprised by that because he left the field in a way that is usually not indicative of a guy who is coming back in.  Maybe I was wrong?  New Tradition might have a better memory on this.
He came back in for a bit, then was unable to continue after a while. He was on crutches with ice on his ankle after that. That’s all the info I have at current. Hopefully he’s ok, but Mr. Groark stepped up very nicely in his place. They definitely challenged him and he absolutely answered.

Interesting nugget that I just found from Coach Dartt's bio:

Quote
In five years as offensive coordinator, his unit has led the nation in nine different statistical categories including leading the nation in scoring three times.

I'm sure that was an accident though.   Hey, even a broken clock is right three times in five years or something like that.

was he also the head coach at the time? maybe being the CEO and calling plays is a little too much for the son-in-law?

maybe he's a better OC than HC?

I felt like one of the best offenses I saw in 30 years of following Mount was when Dartt was the OC with Taurice Scott at QB, BJ Mitchell/Logan Nemeth at RB, Namdar/Kennedy at WR. They were unpredictable and put defenses on the heels all game long. Of course that defense was nasty too. Many of the same coaches are in the program still and I believe they can get back to that. It just takes some reflection sometimes.

Walker returned to Trinity game after leaving I heard.

Barring really bad unforeseen absences in the game, NCC will win. I am saying it. UWL doesn’t even have an Alma chance in Alliance.

That's a good one.  I'm gonna use that!

Groark seemed to step in nicely when Walker left the game.  Hey everybody, let's let UWL find out about Walker on Saturday around 12:05.  No need to give 'em a heads up.

The strength of the WIAC has historically been due to veteran led teams.  Right now, which teams are truly veteran? And by veteran, players who have played multiple WIAC seasons.

duel threat

Whoa!  That's a different game entirely.

You got me.  Good eye.

As for playing in the Perk to make up for 2010...  Yes please!  For starters it means we got past UWL.  More importantly, it might get some of the UWW fans to just shut up about it.  Can you do a search for "2010" in post-patterns?  I bet you'd find more 2010s in 2023 than you did in 2010.  And I bet it's all over the WIAC page.
