Where was Rossy?

Good is my biggest question and concern....if he's injured, this is a different defense.

I listened to the broadcast on WRMU and thought they said in post game they were hoping to get him back. Didn't say injured but I banged up, I think.

Talked to someone in the know and they said he was just resting.  A little banged up but back next week.  Didn't think they would need him and wanted him to get rested up for next week.

Thanks for the update. Good to know.

Braxton Plunk needs 4 TD to break the NCAA career record for TD passes.  Does that happen in the early or later part of the 2nd quarter?  Do you go to Ruby or his cousin, Chase Lawson, for the record breaker?

4th TD pass was to Edwin Reed early (13:35) in the 4th quarter.

for this week's challenge, Plunk is now up to 14,356 passing yards (an NCAA D3 record).  But Borchert holds the Mount record with 14,482.  For the BW alumni, that's 126 yards.  At what point does Plunk throw for 127 yards? the first or second quarter?

This is the total athletics spending by school, per the EADA reports. While some schools may spend disproportionally more on football (like Mount, I would imagine), this is probably a better overall comparison. Some schools have much higher "not allocated" expenses compared to others, much of which probably goes towards football in one manner or another. For example, some schools may lump all travel into "not allocated", while others break it down by sport.

Ohio Northern - $5,278,248
Baldwin Wallace - $4,659,646
John Carroll - $3,956,466
Mount Union - $3,853,504
Marietta - $3,545,882
Muskingum - $3,284,053
Otterbein - $2,992,563
Capital - $2,792,461
Heidelberg - $2,138,483
Wilmington - $2,017,584

Two things that are somewhat surprising from the list - how much more ONU spends compared to anyone else, and how low Heidelberg is despite having success in most major sports.

Using mc1983's EADA report numbers (just one year's data), I played with the following extrapolation:

Column 1:  School
Column 2:  Athletics Spending
Column 3:  Football Spending
Column 4:  Football Spending as a % of Athletic Spending (Sorted by this Value)
Column 5:  Average Football Finish of the Last 5 (Non-Covid-19) Years
Column 6:  Best Football Finish in the Last 5 (Non-COVID-19) Years
Column 7:  Outcome Bettor, Worse, or Same Than Investment, Given Outcome?  (Bang for the Buck?) ... Subjective

Wilmington   $2,017,584.00   $462,909.00   22.94%   8   7   Worse
Heidelberg   $2,138,483.00   $482,851.00   22.58%   5   4   Worse
Mount Union   $3,853,504.00   $724,917.00   18.81%   1   1   Same
Ohio Northern   $5,278,248.00   $896,006.00   16.98%   6   4   Worse
John Carroll   $3,956,466.00   $632,541.00   15.99%   2   2   Better
Capital          $2,792,461.00   $394,647.00   14.13%   9   8   Same
Otterbein         $2,992,563.00   $414,524.00   13.85%   9   8   Same
Muskingum     $3,284,053.00   $417,432.00   12.71%   7   T5   Better
Baldwin-Wallace $4,659,646.00   $572,398.00   12.28%   3   T2   Better
Marietta   $3,545,882.00           $383,204.00   10.81%   5   3   Better

OAC Football Award

can't really argue with a Raiders clean sweep of player awards.  At least the conference threw a couple of guys a bone with ties

For those that think Saturday will be another walk in the park for the Raiders, Alma is a very explosive football team.  Their skill players are excellent and they put a lot of points on the board.  I am still not totally sold on our DB's who have benefitted from the DL's good QB pressure.  We seem to always be chasing and never looking back for the ball. Their running attack is very solid, the the D appears fairly strong.
I hope I am wrong, but I think we will get more than we want from this team.

Giving up the big pass is 100% my concern with the Mount defense, especially with who is down the line.  Nobody has really drove the ball on Mount for a TD, seems like they have all been a big pass leading to a score.

I think Mount will be much, much more focused/prepared for Alma.  Hopefully the embarrassing first round was a wake up call

The total size of the student body may play a part also since in 1983 Mount had about 1000 students and now 2200?
