NACC Tournament First Round
#6 Alverno 64
#3 Benedictine 63

After the Eagles were twice unable to take the lead at the line with under 30 seconds to go, Gabby Hood sank the winning free throw after she got fouled with 1 second left to give the Inferno their second win at the Rice Center in a week. They advance to play Lakeland on Thursday.

#5 Concordia Chicago 45
#4 Wisconsin Lutheran 66

WLC held CUC scoreless for the final 10:14 of the contest to overturn a 9 point deficit. They move on to play Concordia Wisconsin in the semifinals.

NACC Tournament Semifinals
#4 Wisconsin Lutheran 66
#1 Concordia Wisconsin 76

#6 Alverno 63
#2 Lakeland 79

And thus, the Warriors streak of six straight conference tournament titles comes to an end. Instead, it will be the last two teams who won it before that, as we have #2 Lakeland at #1 Concordia Wisconsin Saturday at 2:00pm (CT).

Out of curiosity, I see CUW is ranked #7 in the region. Do they have a realistic chance to get an at-large bid if Lakeland beats them, or is their SOS going to be too low?

NACC Tournament Final
#2 Lakeland 64
#1 Concordia Wisconsin 60

The Muskies made a couple more plays down the stretch after the Falcons erased a 12 point deficit in the 2nd half, and Lakeland is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in seven years, where they will play #5 ranked and undefeated Ohio Northern in the first round.

Concordia Wisconsin did not receive an at-large bid.

It's almost that time again - we're just a couple of weeks away from the start of the 2017-18 regular season.

2017-18 NACC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll
1. Concordia Wisconsin (14), 272
2. Wisconsin Lutheran (5), 258
3. Benedictine (3), 236
4. Lakeland (2), 223
5. Concordia Chicago, 199
6. Alverno, 152
7. MSOE, 134
8. Aurora, 123
9. Dominican, 117
10. Rockford, 70
11. Marian, 48
12. Edgewood, 40

(Voting done by the head coach and SID at each school, first place votes in parentheses.)

I may be a little biased, but I think I would go higher than 4th for the Muskies. While losing both starting guards from last year will undoubtedly hurt, our frontcourt is talented enough to lean heavier on them, and there should be plenty of depth on both ends. I wouldn't be surprised to see us right back in the title mix this year.

The bottom four teams in the NACC last year, Aurora, Dominican, Marian and Edgewood all win their openers. No one played great competition, but still the NACC went 5-1 on opening night. That's cool.

Condordia-Wi: 67
WARHAWKS: 86

Leading by just a pair of points, 38-36, after four ties and ten lead changes in the first half the WARHAWKS used a 29-11 scoring advantage in the third period and cruised to 86-67 win over Concordia-Wi.  The WARHAWKS shot 71% while holding the Falcons to 27% from the floor during the quarter.  The Falcons would get no closer than fifteen after that.  Senior guard Brooke Trewyn finished with a double/double 15 points/10 rebounds while Camri Conley and Malia Smith led the WARHAWKS in scoring with 16 points each.  Junior post player Sarah Schumacher also scored in double figures with 14 points.  The WARHAWKS shot 59-7% for the game and dominated the paint outscoring the Falcons 52-22.  The Falcons were led by Audrey Scharmer who finished with a game high 20 points.

It is the time of the season when managing practices and games around finals and soon-to-be holiday breaks can be difficult, especially as most conferences have begun in-conference games while there are still non-conference battles on tap.

On Thursday's edition of Hoopsville, Dave chats with a number of coaches who have had significant starts to the season, but are now managing their seasons. How are the highs and lows massaged and how to keep student-athletes focused not only on their studies (and finals), but also the game.

Results at this time of the year will be a factor come the end of the season.

Dave will also discuss, and update if able, the breaking news out of St. Norbert where the women's basketball team has been suspended ten games due to a number of players' actions.

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. You can watch the show starting at 7:00 pm ET here: http://bit.ly/2ADCaC3.

After the show is over, you can watch it On Demand or listen to the podcast (info below).

You can also send your questions to the show and have them featured on the Hoopsville Mailbag segment. Email them to hoopsville@d3hoops.com.

Guests include (in order of appearance):
- Dan Lukes, St. Norbert Assistant Athletics Director/Athletics Communications
- David Doino, Averett men's coach
- Ken Davis, Lake Forest men's coach
- Klay Knueppel, Wisconsin Lutheran women's coach
- Michelle Filander, Austin women's coach

By this point in most seasons, the usual names appear at the top of conferences races and conversations surround the usual suspects. Not the case this year. There are new names at the top, or in the mix, of conferences around the country.

That excitement is what is driving the 2017-18 season and makes any night in Division III must-watch.

On Sunday's episode of Hoopsville, Dave talks to some new face leading or in the mix in their respective conferences from four or the regions around the country. Can these teams keep their success through the end of the season or has the challenge just gotten that much more difficult as the second half of conference schedules begins.

There is also some Top 25 discussion to be had. Ryan Scott makes his weekly appearance in "Top 25 Double-take."

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. You can watch the show LIVE starting at 7:00 p.m. ET right here: http://bit.ly/2DnzrgG.

A reminder that Sunday shows tend to focus on the Northeast, Atlantic, South, and Central regions primarily.

If you have questions, feel free to interact witht he show (information to the right) or send an email (hoopsville@d3hoops.com) and maybe have your question be featured on the Hoopsville Mailbag segment.

Guests include (in order of appearance):
- Rusty Rogers, Concordia-Chicago women's coach
- Adam Stockwell, No. 14 Hamilton men's coach
- Katie Pearson, Cabrini women's coach
- David Smith, Methodist men's coach
- Ryan Scott, "Top 25 Double-take"
