the presidenst should dominate the PAC this season with ryan gregg coming back form eye surgery and finally being able to open his lid in daylight. i also expcect big years from shaun pfiel, nate hopkins, mike trumpower, the big show, and the one and only ron (meesh) mitko. the presidents are definetly going to miss shutdown man dan yakatis and mike buzzelli but there is enough stars on this team to make up for their loss in two dominant players.

Big Show must be ready to do some choke slams.  Also the Prez will really miss the presence of Michael Buzzelli at 1st base.  There was also those two jags in the stands doind major league quotes.  It won't be the same.  But, it is what it is.

Rumor out of Washington: Jeff Mountain is going under the knife and will miss the whole season.  He's not doing too well.  The Prez have have one thing on their minds: Win this season for him, even though Mountain didn't want that.  Word out of Washington Hospital is that Jeff will have a transister radio in his ear to listen to the games.  The nurses are gonna lose the channel changer and put on stuff that apparently causes folks to move to England.

Does the PAC have an automatic bid this year? I thought I saw where they got an 8th team.

Spence, the NCAA requires a conference to have the full 7 members for 2 years prior to awarding a Pool A (automatic qualifier) bid.

The Pres AC gets its Pool A bid in 2007-08 for all sports.

The net impact is that the Pres AC Pool A bid will come from the Pool B allocation to the degree that it impacts the numbers in the equations.

That would drop the Pool B bids from 7 to 6.

I cant help but laugh when I hear things as ridiculous as "Last year, Matt (Woogie) Mark guided Washington & Jefferson to its fifth Presidentsí Athletic Conference Baseball Championship.  He also helped W&J claim the ECAC Division III Southern Baseball Championship following the Presidents 6-5 victory over Keystone. " wow who the hell writes this nonsence. Its a good thing this team is stacked with such great talent otherwise I dont think they would survive with the loss of their Ace Dan Yokitis. Not to mention the outstanding coaching staff that was released due to ill funds, Coach Buzzelli, Coach Bus Seapker, and Coach Swint Peice.

Who will have the more successful coaching career....Coach Buzzelli or Coach Mark?

Sam Mann leads the PAC in strikeouts per 7 innings and hit batsmen.  This guy threw at his own dad in a father/son game.

It's a shame that the school couldn't keep Coach Bus, due to the fact that the income he would make at W&J, is not enough to pay for his habit of paying for girlfriends.  As for Coach Buzz, coaching fantasy league's will have to help in keeping the dream alive.

How's the PrAC going to shape up this year? W&J has been the powerhouse in that conference over the past few years but they've lost a bunch of seniors. Thiel looks to be good and you can't count out Thomas More and Westminster. Will W&J have a good shot this year or will someone else figure to get the automatic NCAA bid for 2008?

from my reports, W&J had a good recruiting class last year and you should start to see their contributions this season.  If they did as well this year, they should have someone to rep[lace Mann and Pfiel.

Yeah, I know that W&J is young but talented. Young pitching staff and some good positional players coming up. It will be interesting to see how the younger players mature this year. The two following years they should be pretty stacked.

IMO sophomore pitcher Mike Gielata holds a lot of the cards re: how good W&J is this year. Didn't get a lot of IP in his FR year but was pretty well regarded out of HS and had 9Ks in 9.2 IP last year. He looks like their best shot at a bona fide ace.

Looks like Thomas More is a lock for home venue for the playoffs. Westminster and Grove City control their destany but have play for their spot and forth place Theil is in pretty good shape with only two PrAC games to go with Bethany. W&J has their work cut out for them and have been hit with two key injuries this year but still have a chance if they win out in the PrAC and get some help. TMC is a mature team and has to be the favorite for the NCAA automatic but anything can happen in the tournament.

Fred Redd,
I don't know much about the Presidents Conference but, reviewing the standings I'll go with your odds.

What happened to W&J? They had some nice wins over Otterbein, Mount Union, and Denison. I should think they would have challenged for a spot in the conference tourney.

They were a young team that had a majority of sophomores and and a freshman starting. The were capable of beating almost anybody if they were on or losing if they weren't. They tied Div I Duquesne 7-7 in eleven innings yesterday even though they got nearly everybody into the game. W&J had two key injuries ( one soph. starting pitcher who has been struggling to rehab all season and  the soph. starting second baseman who was on track for a great season.) Hopefully, both will be back to full capability next season.

Don't count on W&J to miss the playoffs next year. I would have to consider them to be a contender for the PrAC automatic bid in 2009 and 2010.

tough loss for Thomas Moore in the opening game of the tournament.....I think they need to make a run and win four in a row to get into the Regional tournament.

I don't think they have a shot at a Pool C bid at all.

Good luck to the teams in the PAC!!

Didn't see the TMC opening loss to Grove City coming. This elevates Thiel's chances big time but TMC is far from done.

Grove City earning the first AQ from the PAC for baseball. It's the Wolverines' first-ever postseason berth in baseball. Grove City's also the first PAC team in 24 years to make the NCAAs.

In 1984, then-member John Carroll went 0-2 in the Mideast Regional.

Curious to see where the Wolverines will end up. Grove City is the eastern-most school in the Mideast. Grove City is within 500 miles of the Mideast, New York, Mid-Atlantic and even the South regionals (489 miles to Danville, Va.).

Technically, St. Vincent is the eastern most team in the mid-east though they are not yet eligible until next year to participate in the post-season.

I have reviewed the NCAA status report from August 2007.  St Vincent was three years away from being eligible for NCAA play (2011).
If SVC is "double" promoted to year-4 in August 2008, then they will be eligible in 2010.

SVC was promoted to Year-3 status this month.

They will eligible for the NCAA playoffs in 2011 and games against them this year count as in-region.

Looks like the PAC is the hotbed of postings on here. lol   Anyway, though Theil was supposed to run away with the conference in '09 W&J proved that they were the class of the PAC. Looks like they are well situated for a pre-season ranking and to repeat for '10. They hit the crap out of the ball, have a real solid and deep pitching staff, and play pretty good defense and it all comes back next year. I'm glad to see them do well in the regional. The PrAC deserves more respect in recent years than its gotten.

I watched most of the Washington and Lee game and part of the York game and (of course) all of the Johns Hopkins game.  The Presidents are an incredibly solid, young baseball team.  They will be making some serious noise in the Mideast.  Pasquine, Bales and Kennedy make a pretty darn good nucleus for success next year.

W&J is definitely going to be a solid team in the 2010 season with a good combination of offense and pitching.  They should easily be the favorite to win the conference.  In terms of making noise in the Mideast though, I'm not to sure.  Like I said, they are going to be a good team, probably a top 25 team, but the Mideast is going to be the best region in Division 3 baseball in 2010, hands down.  Marietta, Adrian, Heidelberg, Denison, Concordia, Otterbein, and numerous others should all surface in the top 25 and make NCAA runs.  Then of course there's Rose Hulman and Wooster who very well could be 2 of the top 3 teams in the country next year.  Making an NCAA Regional would be a great accomplishment for the Presidents, but it's gonna take alot to dethrone Wooster and the other heavy hitters of the Mideast.

I see it has bee a long time since there has been any PAC fan's posting on this board. But I thought I would post that Chatham is adding baseball for 2016.

That will bring the conference to an even 10 teams.

Wonder where they'll play.  The lack of a convenient home field was a reason stated that it was unlikely CMU would upgrade its club team to varsity.

Their soccer and softball team share a field.

I am not sure that will work for baseball. I bet they will use Shady Sides field like they do for track and hockey.

Wonder why CMU's club team doesn't use it?

Anyway that pretty much ends any speculation of CWRU affiliating with the PrAc for baseball.
