Did Filak get hurt? I noticed he hasnt pitched since July 6th. Anyone have some info?

He pitched one inning in relief a couple of days ago, so my guess is he was injured.

LHP Andrew Pevsner (Hopkins '10) has been putting up good numbers out of the bullpen for the Ogden Raptors (LA Dodgers, Pioneer Rookie Advanced League).  He's 1-0 in 6 appearances. 10.1 innings with no runs, 5 hits, 11 Ks, 4 BBs and 1 HB.  His ERA is 0.00 and his WHIP is 0.87.  And now I've jinxed him--sorry, Pevs.

James Kang, Pomona Pitzer shortstop drafted by the Red Sox this year, moved up from the Gulf Coast Rookie League to the Lowell Spinners Short Season A team.  Since the move last week he has been player of the game twice, and participated in the futures game at Fenway Park on Saturday, hitting a monster double off the Green Monster!

I follow the Spinners because (a) I lived in New England for 20 years, and (b) the Red Sox pick up a lot of D3 kids, and (c) I'm a Hopkins homer and Chez Angeloni is with Lowell.  Kudos to Kang!  Pity, however, the Spinners' pitcher Randy Consuegra (not a D3 kid).  He is 0-2 in 2 starts, having retired only one hitter.  He's given up 10 runs, all earned.  He's walked 10, K'd none, and plunked 2.  His ERA is 270.00 and is WHIP is 30.00.  The good news is, he hasn't given up a home run, yet.  It's a tough life out there.

Pevsner continues to look good through four appearances.  7.2 innings, no runs, 3 hits, 2 walks, 8 strikeouts, OBA .130, WHIP 0.65.

Chez Angeloni has appeared twice for the Lowell Spinners in their young season giving up no earned runs.

Andrew Pevsner is still waiting for his first appearance with Ogden Raptors.

The Dodgers have assigned Andrew Pevsner to the Ogden (Utah) Raptors of the Pioneer League (advanced rookie).

I've known Andrew Pevsner since he was a freshman at Hopkins, but I never heard this story:

I agree that he has been hyped unmercifully.

But is there any evidence that that is HIS fault?  (Quite possibly at least partially Scott Boras's fault, but Strasburg's?)

And for tonight, it looked justified.  We'll see.

Everything I read about him (and, as a Washington Post subscriber, that's plenty) makes me think that he's a really nice kid, humble, with his head on right.  I'm a fan already.

Andrew Pevsner, Johns Hopkins, left-handed pitcher, in the 16th round to the Dodgers.
Late by 28 minutes. That hurts.

But I'm a Hopkins homer.  I was so excited I didn't even read the prior posts.
