It's going OT in Chicago.  North Park and Calvin are still scoreless after regulation.

Big ups to our production company, Fulcrum, which also worked with us when NPU hosted the first two weekends in 2017. It's a company founded by North Park grads, and they do great work. Their main focus in terms of sports production is ultimate, which is fortunate for us -- ultimate plays a lot like soccer in terms of movement and pace, so they have a good feel for the camerawork and direction.

I was kicking myself after the match, because I wanted to thank the Fulcrum folks on the air by name, but I was so mentally spent that I completely forgot and signed off before I could do that.
I thought the camera work was really good, considering all the ball movement.  The replays of goals were also great.

You'll have a chance to mention Fulcrum on your next broadcast.

I watched the game online and it was clear that it wasn’t a flop. He simply tripped over his own feet. The center got the call wrong, the AR got it right and in the end - the right call was made. Your observation on it being a “flop” was incorrect.
I agree that it was not a flop.  He just overran and fell.  The ref conferred with the linesman, and they got the call right.  The complaining might have been over the subsequent possession, which went to the Gustavus GK.

North Park edges Gustavus on PKs after the Gusties sent the game to OT with a goal at the 88:00 mark.  A real quality defensive battle from both sides.

North Park with a few very good chances in the 2 overtimes.  Gustavus surviving by the skin of their teeth.  Game is going to PKs.

Brutal ending for Gustavus but NPU was the better team on the day. No saves on any kicks round 1-4 and then the Gustavus shooter (shooting second in the fifth round) put it right down the middle which the GK saved. A bit confounding he would go there given the 'keepers were getting nowhere near the kicks into the corner.
I agree -- Gustavus battled North Park tooth and nail and scored the equalizer at the 88:00 mark to send it to OT.  It came down to the final PK, which the NP keeper blocked with his feet rather than his hands.

North Park scored five unanswered goals in the second half in a 6-1 rout of Pacific Lutheran in the first round of the NCAA tournament.  The Vikings scored in the first three minutes of the contest, then the Lutes tied it at the 57:05 mark before North Park netted five goals in the final 30 minutes.  They move on to play the winner of the Colorado-Gustavus Adolphus contest, which is being played right now.

North Park 38
Elmhurst 14

Enough with this crap about NPU's 2019 edition being the worst football team anybody's ever seen. The Vikings aren't even the worst team in this league.

Great performance today by the Vikes on Senior Day.
I watched (on line) most of the second half and the Vikings played really well, capitalizing on two huge Elmhurst turnovers.  They mixed up the play calling with runs and some nice catch-and-run plays. I'm very happy for the Viking players, coaches, and fans.

North Park defeats Elmhurst, 38-14, on Senior Day at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.

“I knew coming in this was going to be a process this year,” said Giovanine, who opens his 21st season at the Viking helm. “We're going to have to really evolve and develop as the season goes on. It's a tough start, but that's OK. We'll be exposed and hopefully learn from it.”

"We'll be exposed"? I didn't think that Grey Giovanine was the type to make a concession speech before the visiting opponent had even left its campus.
Maybe it was a pre-stomp, or a preemptive stomp.

Didn’t get to see any of the BW or Franklin games in their regionals but it seems they represented well! Always great to see ME teams go outside of region and perform the way they did.
I watched some of the BW-Concordia games on video and was impressed by how well the Yellow Jackets played.  They were very solid in all the fundamentals.  They gave Concordia Chicago -- another very good team that our team (North Park U) plays almost every year -- all they could handle and were a couple of plays away from moving on to the super regionals.

In regional action, North Central dropped its opening game on Friday to Whitewater, 9-2, then rebounded on Saturday with a pair of wins to eliminate Bethany Lutheran, 11-4, and get revenge by knocking out Whitewater, 13-4.  They need to defeat Webster twice on Sunday to advance to the super regional.

All-CCIW Team for 2019

Congratulations to all the players honored this season.

North Central tops IWU in 10 innings, 8-7, on a bases-loaded fielder's choice. NCC wins the CCIW Tournament and advances to regional play.

According to the CCIW tournament schedule, if North Park wins again, they will play a third game at 7 PM against Illinois Wesleyan.  Am I misreading the schedule or is there a typo?

Nope, you've got it right. That's the hand North Park has been dealt. If the Vikings want to survive until Saturday, they're gonna have to marathon their way through three wins today.
I seem to recall a prohibition against playing three games in a single day in the CCIW.  Maybe it was specifically against triple-headers.

North Park eliminates Wheaton, 9-0, behind Ethan Sund's five-hit shutout.  Sund fanned ten, including two in the ninth inning.  NPU will face Augustana in an elimination game at 4 PM at Lee Pfund Stadium in Carol Stream.  According to the CCIW tournament schedule, if North Park wins again, they will play a third game at 7 PM against Illinois Wesleyan.  Am I misreading the schedule or is there a typo?

In a class move and with the game pretty much out of hand, Wheaton coach Matt Husted called on senior hurlers Luke Kram and Caleb Selk to end their careers by facing a couple of batters in the 9th.
