Wow. DeAngelo Fulford and Louis Berry have been named to the AFCA D3 All-American team. This is without a doubt the most prestigious All-American team. Looks like "crow" is on the menu for those of you who relegated Fulford to second and "lucky to be on the second team" status.

Just so you know, when you serve a dish of crow, it's cooked, not raw.

The coaches probably assumed that the Mount Union quarterback was an automatic All-American. It's definitely prestigious, but not infallible.

How about during a medical redshirt.  If you break your leg 1 game into the season and get a medical redshirt, do you drop off the team like the kid taking a greyshirt?  Or can you attend practices and meetings and all that?

You can still attend practices and meetings.

For those saying UWW is back- are they really Stagg Bowl back?
UWW had a great defense this year, they lose 8 seniors.
UWW's 2018 offense with a third year starting QB? Pretty good against weaker teams, struggled mightily against better teams like UWO, Bethel and UMHB. They lose the QB and a great center. The rest return, but who will QB in 2019? The first back up was Oles and the second was Demark, I don't recall either of them seeing any game time with the number 1 units.

I'm confident the D will regroup and be pretty good, not sure about dominant.
As for the O, we are now four years beyond a game (2014 Stagg) where UWW demonstrated its offense can compete with the best. We just witnessed two playoff games where the O was unwilling to "take a chance" (at least in the first half w UMHB). I get the conservative approach if the staff doesn't have confidence. I do have to wonder if an offense that needs to be so heavily insulated from risk is "Stagg Bowl Back".

On the podcast, I referred to this as "back to 2015 level" -- which is a little bit short of that but still "in the national conversation."

Redshirting: Going through practice every day for a year without incurring a year of eligibility.
Greyshirting: Going through a year of life without incurring a year of eligibility.

This is not splitting hairs. They are really quite different. Not aware of any conferences that prohibit greyshirting, because to prohibit greyshirting you'd be saying that nobody could join a team after their freshman year.

Yes, redshirting was voted out around 2004.

Fulford ankle is not the issue. The problem is between that young man's ears. As far as UMHB not having imagination...same goes for UWW. Good lord .

That fake punt from that deep in their own end was pretty imaginative.  Damn!

Kinda unnecessary up 10, why would you put that play on film??

It had been 17-0 at the half and UWW came out and scored on its first possession of the second half. The game was hardly salted away.

I received an email from the Alumni mailing list that said we were home team. I purchase 4 tickets on the home side.

If they do it by seeds (the usual way), UMU should be the home team, being the defending champs.  (About 7-8 years ago they added a new 'tie-breaker' for seeding of undefeated teams: performance in the previous season's playoffs.)

It's not by seeding -- it's by "which fan base will look best opposite the cameras on ESPN." UMHB is the home team, though I was told at the game that they will be seated on the visitors side for those purposes.

After a number of years of playing 10 games and participating in the playoffs, it's definitely possible that they could be like Johns Hopkins. Would take a little while to catch up first, probably.

Prior to last week, three of the four teams playing on this side of the bracket were undefeated. What's your point?

My point? Why isnít UWW #2?

Mhb is better and UWW missed the playoffs last year.

I get it. But that was last year and last year has nothing to with you his year.

It does in the Division III football playoff seedings, and as a reminder, this was put into place to benefit UWW.

Good morning. Weather?

Damp and mid-40s, cloudy. Wind about 12-15 mph out of the left-hand end zone. Not actively raining.

I may think I know the answer to this. Buy why is UMHB the #2 seed? Both teams are undefeated. Sos? Other criteria?

Presumably because they played in last year's Stagg. This is the tiebreaker criteria they added after the committee debacle in 2010.

I've been doing some studying of sorts after the D3 podcast where Pat n Keith ranked the QBs still alive. I believe it went Tammaro (jhu), Fulford (mu), Wilber (uww), and Hammack (UMHB).

Nope, that's not how we ranked them. Only ranked one of them, maybe two. Definitely did not do 1-4 and definitely not in that order.
