Returning to the thread, I have to say that Neumann is the best team no one is voting for at this point. Scary fast, Pressure D, quick in the post, good mid-range shooters and slashers. Yeah they have some trouble with the long range shot, but they can certainly play with the top 25.

How about Andre Foreman at Salisbury from the early 90s? Was a dominating scorer who also managed to be unselfish with the ball. Certainly one of the best I have ever seen.

Q -

Nice work here.

Talk to me on your thoughts about Dickinson not being competitive in the C process with .800/.525/2-1 vs say, 12. Messiah* (MACC) - .792/.527/3-4   Mid-Atlantic #6

Welcome to the season everyone!

Sorry to have been away so long ... I was waiting for the first frost, which hit my town today, so here I am!

Cabrini is probably a bit high in the pre-season given the loss of a POY candidate (Lemons) and the ROY (Walton-Moss) as well as solid contributor to the team (Boyd).

Last year's team was built for the playoff run.  Once again, mid-year transfers may have some affect on the second half of the season.

The real question mark for me is PG play. Lemons was such a special player at this level that his loss is the hardest to fill.

Everyone enjoy!

Umm - first let me say that I meant to say 'hosting' and not 'hosing.'

Second, there is no way ANYONE in the MA is flying anywhere, so DMac is right on saying that sectionals located in areas central to the two regions involved will have an advantage to the hosting discussion.

I kind of doubt that Cabrini's facility, given the locker room constraints, could host a sectional.  It's a wonderful place to play a small college basketball game, but the team spaces are a bit tight for that many teams.  The folks there did a great job hosing the pod last year, but the step up is a steep one!

As for whether they're in or not, my gut says they can lose 2 and still be in with some help, lose one and anywhere I think the Cavs still dance, but the safe play is to win out!

As someone who does vote on the 'real' poll, I can tell you that I also have concerns about some of the 1-2 loss teams being very high in the rankings when there are 4-5 loss teams that seem to have had some better wins and play in traditionally stronger conferences. One of the metrics that I tend to look at closely is what road wins does a team have over teams that are above .500.  I have not looked at a Massey ranking in years. I will take a gander at the SOS calc, but when it comes down to choosing between teams, my 'go-to' determinant is what tough teams have they beaten on the road.

I read this thread every week and am always impressed with the knowledge of the voters and the thought that they put into their ballots.  i hope the tradition continues!

Sorry to miss you at Cabrini yesterday Hoops Fan.  Glad you made the trip!

I think tonight's Cabrini-Purchase tilt will be a tight one.  Billups and Lemons are pretty evenly matched.  Purchase can shoot the lights out and Cabrini  is a great defensive squad. Both teams are well-coached, disciplined and experienced. Charles Thompson could create some matchup issues for the Cavaliers, though.  I looks for a D3 classic tonight at the Nerney Field house.

Wolfpac55 - you are really a classy guy.  These 2 guys come on here with passion for the team and program, say good things about the kids who are being successful and you rip them?

You're pathetic.  I mean who's the loser?  These guys, or you, who crawl out from under your rock to throw uninformed jabs and make ridiculous statements.  I'll giv you a hint since you seem to need one:  it isn't them.

Nice work Ms. Ypsi.  I am not a math guy by any means, but I will tell you that 40% is just too high no matter how you use it as an adjustment.

In my experience, playing a bad team in there gym is not really much harder than playing them at home or on a neutral floor.  I mean how much harder is it to beat Cal tech at their place than in Vegas?

Similarly, teams that are +.500 on the road are generally tough to play anywhere.  Good teams can beat you at their place or at yours.

There are a lot of factors that go into the quality of a road win.  Was it over break?  If so, this probably isn't that big a differential from you own gym unless you're Hope or Calvin, pulling in rabid fans from the local community.    How far did you to play the game?  While this isn't a be-all and end-all, I can tell you from hard experience that the further you travel the harder it generally is to play on the other end.

I've got no idea where .4 came from, but it's WAY to large a modifier to be accurate.

Y'all need to settle down here an behave.  Cabrini is playing well now, but they are by no means back to being among the teams discussed at a national level.  There are few people here who respect the program and its players and coaches more than me, but Wolfpac55 is putting the cart before the horse.   People who speak and behave like Wolfpack55 are just not part of the D3hoops community.  Please go back wherever you came from.

When this team and staff wins a couple of NCAA games, then MAYBE it's time to start talking about the next job.  Right now, that is still on the horizon.

These kids and coaches and administrators have done a great deal to restore luster to a program ruined by the firing of a great man, the disenfranchisement of the alumni and the inept leadership of the post-Dzik era.  Now it's time for them to take the next step.

David -

I don't think I would let them fly after that loss.  I think I would make them walk.

Good Luck to Lady Lions of Piedmont College and John Dzik today as he returns to the sidelines as a head coach.  The legendary former Cabrini men's coach and current Piedmont AD will take over the team  as they take on Spellman College on Atlanta, GA.  Dzik steps up to the head spot as the Lady Lions coach Jamie Purdy has to step aside for the remainder of the season with pregnancy-related issues.
