2015 Combined record of 187-110-36:   0.615
Using NCAA weighted formula for H/A:  0.664

Haverford was one of the top teams in the nation last season and if they did not run into Oneonta St, a title could have been possible.    For 2016 they only lose three starters, BUT those three just happened to be AA and Regional AA players;  Yarosh, B.Seitz, C. Seitz.    Yarosh (a legitimate POY candidate) and B. Seitz combined scored 25 and assisted 9 of the teams 56g and 42a.  C. Seitz was a big part of the defense...

Assuming no transfers or academic ineligibility the team still returns:
M    Corkery    22-22   SR  1st team D3 AA, 1st team NSCAA Region, 1st team CC
F     Walcott    22-22   SR  Honorable mention CC (2014,2015)
D     Carr         22-16  SO
M    Nicholson  22-22   JR
D    Willigan    21-21   SR  2nd team CC
D    John         22-22  SO
D    Clark        18-17  SO
GK  Miller        22-22  SR  Honorable mention CC

In 2015, Haverford started out the season 2-3 with losses to Stevens, Wesleyan, and MSU... then won 16 straight.
2016 might be deja vu with Brandeis, Lycoming, Stevens, Hopkins, and Stockton in the first 7 games....  How will this team respond with nearly half of scoring production gone and a leader in the back out.   The Fords should have some strong recruits coming in, but will that be enough to get them past the Elite teams.

PROJECTION:  CC Regular Season Champ and Conference Champion
BEST CASE SCENARIO:   Final 4
WORST CASE SCENARIO:   Loss in second round of NCAA Tournament

The Centennial is a tough conference, the non-conf games are even stronger...  SOS should be incredibly high (top 3-5 projected in the nation, IMO).   What are your thoughts?  Is there anyway this team could miss out on the tournament?

Men's soccer / 2015 POOL C
« on: October 15, 2015, 02:54:55 pm »

Last year the Pool C broke down by the following:

New England: 4 (Amherst, Brandeis, Coast Guard, Wheaton (MA))
South Atlantic: 3 (Emory, Rutgers-Newark, Salisbury)
East: 3  (Brockport St, Cortland St, Rochester)
Mid Atlantic:  2  (Dickinson, F&M)
Central: 2 (Dominican, North Park)
North: 1 (Loras)
Great Lakes: 1 (OWU)
West:  1 (Texas-Dallas)

Likely Candidates from Stronger Conferences with high win percentages and solid SOS.

UW-W or UW-O will be snatching up a Pool C (Winner of this match-up will get the Pool B).
NESCAC Conference Finalist + one additional (at least 2 Pool C total)
NJAC Conference Finalist + one additional (at least 2 Pool C total)
UAA Conference Runner UP + one additional (atleast 2 Pool C total) possibility of 3 Pool C
Centennial Conference Finalist + one additional (at least 2 Pool C)
SUNYAC Conference Finalist + possibly one additional (atleast 2 Pool C total)
NCAC Conference Finalist + possibly one additional (atleast 1 Pool C total)
Liberty League Conference Finalist (atleast 1 Pool C)

That leaves 4-6 spots left throughout the nation, not even factoring in any upsets.

Very little room for error at this point in the season, unless your name is Dickinson.

Men's soccer / NJAC Pick'em
« on: September 18, 2015, 10:43:00 am »
NJAC gets underway this weekend with 3 games on the Saturday card:

Ramapo at Stockton
Rutgers-Camden at WPU
TCNJ @ Rutgers-Newark

Stockton will be looking to avenge last years 3-3 draw at Ramapo, a team that has only mustered 3 conference wins in the last 2 seasons.  I don't expect Ramapo to get a result on the road.  An early draw vs Lancaster Bible and a rout by ECSU, Stockton should control this game from whistle to whistle.  Massey ratings has Stockton 64% to win. Stockton 3, Ramapo 1.

Rutgers-Camden coming off an OT win vs an underrated Cabrini side and a draw vs slightly overrated CNU side without conceding a goal.  They have not lost to WPU since 2006 (7-1-2) run.  Both teams have played a seemingly underrated Manhattanville side (last second loss to MSU, win over Vassar), with Camden winning 3-2 and WPU drawing 0-0.  This is a crucial matchup for WPU as they will be floating around the 5-7th slot in the league fighting for a position to make the conference tournament.   This is also crucial for Rutgers-Camden as they can not afford slip-ups in winnable road games.  Massey ratings has Camden 53% to win. Rutgers-Camden 2, William Paterson 0.

TCNJ has been off to an impressive start, considering they were voted to finish 8th in the conference before the season (wins over Stevens Tech and Roanoke).  Both teams have played and beat NYU; TCNJ 3-1, Rutgers-Newark 1-0.  Rutgers-Newark avenged last years NCAA tourney loss to Cortland St with a 3-1.  I will give the home team the edge in this one, but a draw would not surprise me.  Massey ratings gives Newark a 60% chance to win.  Rutgers-Newark 2, TCNJ 1.

My Predictions for 2015 season:

1) Rutgers-Camden
2) MSU
3) Stockton
4) Rutgers-Newark
5) Rowan
6) Kean
7) TCNJ
8) WPU
9) Ramapo
10) NJCU

-----------------------
11. Lycoming.   Loss to Eastern

Haverford and Dickinson could be ranked ahead of Drew n Gettysburg due to SOS and quality loss, but I'm not buying into it just yet.   Messiah will be outside of top 25 for first time in who knows how long?   RV is a possibility.
