Mount fans, good luck this playoff run. It still stings being 9-1 and left home, but based on the metrics, I understand why... With that, I hope you all win every game in route to championship by more than 25 pts. each game..

If you can beat everyone by more than what you beat us by, I am going to Self Claim JCU as the Number 2 team in the country.... Obviously the end of the year poll will not correspond with my proclamation, but since we will have had only the one loss to you, and then a closer margin than everyone else, I'll claim it..

Just my own hope to salvage the season.. Good luck!

Streaks

Thanks. You're one of the really great guys on the boards. Best to you buddy.
Oh, and Go Blue Streaks (next year).  ;D

UMU defense in NCAA stats

Mount Union is ranked in the top 5 of these defensive categories:
 Total defense
 Team passing efficiency defense
 Passing yards allowed
 Scoring defense
 3rd down conversion defense
 1st down conversion  defense

Thanks guys. Hope the eyes didn't make a typo.  ;D

Help out the crappy eyes

Offense for UMU and NCC has been compared. Mount is in the top 5 in 6 defense categories ( NCAA stats). NCC  is not mentioned in those.
Question. Where does NCC rank in those categories? A quick glance seems to give Mount an edge in defense. Is that correct?
I know I, and others, are looking ahead. But hey, as fans, we can do that.
Look forward to seeing, as best I can, the defensive comparison.
Thanks! Go Raiders!

I posted these the other day (National Ranks):

Total Defense:
3rd Mount @ 185.7 Yards/Game
11th NCC @ 245.7 Yards/Game

Turnover Margin:
6th Mount @ +15
T40th NCC @ +7

Scoring Defense:
2nd Mount @ 6.2 Points/Game
T16th NCC @ 13.7 Points/Game

Still a few categories missing.

Hi gang

Eyes still not good, but I'm trying.

Now comes the fun part of the season. 32 teams - many of the usual suspects and a few we don't see very often. We can all debate about who got left out and shouldn't have, talk about who got in and shouldn't have. We can discuss the "unfair" matchups and the "easy" matchups for others.

But it's PLAYOFF TIME!

We can all root for our teams. We'll breathe easier when they win, knowing they live to play another day, and agonize if they lose, knowing the season is over.
But no matter the outcome of any game, this is still the best time of the year.

Outlined against a blue-gray November sky the 32 teams will ride again. Better forget that last comment. Some sports writer named Grantland Rice already wrote something like that!

These tired old eyes have to quit for now. I conclude by saying
GO PURPLE RAIDERS!

Oh, what the hell. You all  know me -
GO EVERYBODY!  ;D

Hey, my friend, we got our teams in the playoffs. Now comes the good stuff. Let's hope for lots of injury-free wins as we work our way thru the bracket.

There are two things as predictable as the sun rising- the selection committee putting as many obstacles in UMHB's path as possible, and the selection committee putting as few as possible in Mount Unions. It's actually comical at this point.

Speaking as a nonpartisan here, totally agree.  The West #2 in the first round?  Total BS.  Go crush their butts. (PS: Did you hear Catanzaro wax poetic about Mountís awesomeness on the broadcast?  Embarrassing.)

Give it a rest! Mount Union earned those accolades.
How's YOUR team doing?

Dr. Dick Doyle, Proffessor of History. Right?  ???

Do I win? Huh? Huh? Huh?   ;D

Dr. Richard Doyle, indeed.

Yes, you win, win, win!

You may collect your booty from my solicitor John Jarndyce on Main Street in Alliance, Ohio.

(Once all the tees are crossed and the eyes are dotted, of course.)

You have this in official Intertubes writing.

Edward

I'm underwhelmed!  ;D

Central is crushing Wartburg at halftime 42 -14.  Not much defense being played at Pella, IA today. Both teams have combined for almost 750 total yards at the half.

For one hundred trillion bazillion gazillion dollars, name the long-time Mount Union College professor who wrote his master's thesis - or was it his doctoral thesis? - on Pella, IA.
