Everything you said may well be correct, but I didn't check week 3...when you think about it, you're going to be a little red-faced. The UST/SJU game was sandwiched between the week 4 and week 5 vote. I'm not sure how the week 3 poll would reflect what was going to happen 2 weeks later!! So obviously, my comments referred to the week 4 top 25 and the one that came out today, week 5. The numbers are like this:
{snipped}

Very good point. I'm not used to the new site yet, apparently.

I stand corrected.

Thanks for the optimistic tone bp. SJU falls to  #23, UWEC up to #17. I guess that fuels the optimism.

Interesting that St. Thomas lost 4 votes beating the J's by 1, who lost exactly 1/2 their votes from a week prior (158 to 79). Stout remains at 3 votes, with a date at the Perk this Sat; Point drops 57 votes all the way down to 4 with their loss to EC. The Oshkosh yo-yo is a little confusing - they beat RF and pick up 11 votes, then beat LC for almost the first time in modern, recorded history, but lose 16 (now are at 8). EC picked up 41 votes & 1 position beating Point by 6 in OT. I look forward to see what they do at Platteville this week. Trine (winner over Adrian by 1 score) moves down 1 position, but in the process, picks up 18 votes :-\.  EC, SJU, Stout, Oshkosh, probably even Point beats Trine on any given Sat or Thurs, IMO). Interesting!!  ;)

Actually, UST gained 4 points (I'd wager that they are on every single ballot both weeks).
Week three: 543 points: http://d3football.com/top25/2010/week3
Week four: 547 points: http://d3football.com/top25/2010/current

Well, obviously, there was no need to bring the trophy to UST, Ryan.

That's not the point. If you lose, you have to give up the trophy. If it is, indeed, a "traveling" trophy.

In all the other trophy games, the "prize" itself goes to the location of the particular game.

Clicked on the link to Wikipedia's list of 45 DIII rivalries and noticed UST/SJU isn't on there because they don't play for something tangible or haven't named the rivalry.

Since Bennies are notorious for being chubby and according to you guys UST girls are slutty, maybe we could play for Snooki from Jersey Shore. Whoever loses has to keep her on their campus all liquored up for a year.
actually, Bench, there is a traveling trophy, altho it hasnt left Collegeville. I've had the pleasure of seeing The Holy Grail-- it must outweigh the Gagliardi Trophy, if thats possible. Rumor has it THG will be residing at a new address come Sunday AM.

If it "traveled" we'd have seen it at the last 5 games... I have seen nothing.

I'm not much of a writer, but I have a collection of photos of the crowds, the face painting, the shirts from the UST/SJU games in the past few years up on the d3photography.com blog: http://blog.d3photography.com/2010/10/whats-in-a-rivalry-game/

I try to post a couple of blog entries a week, and you can follow our recent game galleries and posts through our facebook page.

Thanks!

Pat - Any reason that you don't have any schedule/result info up for SJU?

Probably a dev issue - King's page does the same thing: http://www.d3football.com/teams/King-s/2010/index

Flooding in Northfield causes significant damage to Carleton track.  Water seeped under parts of the track and those parts are now floating.  The track team will likely be without a home track this year.

I was down there last night. Not looking good.

We're in the bottom of the third in Moline, the first of two games being played (maybe 3... maybe 4? Cannot remember) around the country. The other being Johns Hopkins and Kean.

It's a hot one here, 84 degrees and the humidity crawling up. At least the press box is air conditioned.

IWU punches in with a 10-3 victory over the Beavers of Buena Vista.

Good evening, Ryan.  If you get any inside info on pitching match-ups, let us know!

And, without having met you, I feel safe in saying that the former EMU women's basketball player was cuter than you! :D

HAHA! The only other famous Ryan Coleman out there now that the child actor on Nickelodeon has dropped off the face of the earth.

The only thing I can say is that I take better photographs than her, I'm sure.

Basically: I'm here to shoot and see another W&B hoisted. And then drive home to Minneapolis for a few days before going to Appleton for nearly a week. Track me down, I'll either have my d3photography.com shirts on or my D3sports.com Photographer shirt, which as of January 1 is officially the "retro" gear. Oh, and my TC Twins hat. Probably on backwards.

BV completes their comeback today, downing Webster 13-8.  Tomorrow they face IWU for a ticket to Appleton.  My assumption would be that game 10 will be a resumption of the pitching duel between IWU's Jason Pankau and BV's Probasco (which Pankau won 2-1).  If (God forbid! ;)) there is a game 11, I'd predict that IWU will go with either Paul Kabbes (who had a complete-game victory in the CCIW tourney, has not yet pitched, but is only 2-4 on the year) or Joe Sweeney (also a complete-game victory in the CCIW tourney, had a fairly easy two innings today against Webster, and is 4-2 on the year); who BV would pitch is a mystery to me (their #2 pitched on Thursday, as opposed to IWU's #2 on Friday - would they bring him back on short rest?).

I just arrived in Moline, got the last room in my hotel (thanks, Pat!). Tomorrow should be fun!

I'm definitely heading to Moline, Ill. as soon as my email is filed with the Stevens Point Journal / Wausau Daily Herald. Pics from yesterday's UWSP victory were in today's papers. Same should hold for tomorrow.
