What Bridgeland did at Whitman is nothing short of a miracle. I grew up in Walla Walla and in the mid-80's they had a decent run with Coach Mastin's son and a couple of other studs who put on a good show.  Coach Mastin's style was unique to say the least but with talent and buy-in they had good results.  Aside from that stretch and maybe another relatively decent few years in the 90's Whitman basketball and team sports in general were terrible.

The blame was always placed on the Board of Trustees hiring presidents who simply didn't value athletics.  Part of this was the culture of the school which was as far from a jock mentality as possible in the NW.  It will be interesting to see who Whitman hires to replace him.  I wonder if they will go with a person who has less of a force of personality.

The move to Redlands is a surprise to me as that is a lateral transfer to a much more expensive part of the country.  Granted, my hometown is pretty isolated and it takes a certain person to want to stay there.  It will likely be easier to recruit players to Redlands as they don't have the academic standards of Whitman, have thousands of recruits within 3 hours (whereas Walla Walla had thousands of people within 3 hours!), maybe a lower cost, likely a better cultural fit for hoopers, and a lot less travel time during the season.

Have some Linfield Football hats on order... the logo is a white helmet with the Wildcat decal on a purple background... let me know if you are interested in one and Iíll send you a picture. Iím asking for a $30 donation to the program... hats cost $14 each and Iím covering that cost.

The loss to Redlands definitely added a sense of urgency to every game for the Cats.  There will be no 2 loss team coming out of the NWC for the playoffs... it is win or go home...

Or better yet... WHY EVEN discuss him on our board?  Move that to the ASC and off the NWC board... dude is a traitor and should no longer be mentioned by Linfield supporters..

Was able to watch the game while watching WSU vs ASU in person in Tempe.  Darn Cougs...

Seemed that there was good chemistry with the long ball vs UPS... have zero idea why UPS stacked so many guys in the box to stop the run while leaving their DBs on islands.  Really an odd decision by the DC for UPS.  I'd beg us to run if I was coordinating against us.

Have liked Wyatt's mobility this season and hope that continues.  Personally I am not a fan of the long pass as it is very difficult to complete as compared to short/intermediate passes.  Would like to see a lot of check downs being thrown in most cases.

Need to tighten up the penalties as having 10 is simply too many especially offside on the o/d lines.

Ever since the loss to Redlands we are in playoff mode as only the AQ is going to get a bid from the NWC in 2019.  Two good all around performances against greatly outmatched teams.  Another one coming up this Saturday. I just hope Willamette doesn't drop their program which I can see them deciding to do.

Wasn't sure about the black jerseys but if the players liked them and they help with recruiting that works for me.

In the early 90's while I was a freshman at Linfield we played several JV games against Willamette. I can remember really looking forward to the JV games.

I've always felt that having a solid JV program would be very beneficial to any program as it gives players an opportunity to put the skills learned during practice into action on the field.  Playing a game against an opponent is very different than playing against your own team.  You can go "game speed" against your own guys but it is simply different than when you go "live" against a different team.

I'm somewhat surprised that Linfield, Fox, and Pacific haven't arranged a JV round robin where they play each other twice during the season as that would give them 4 games.  With the low numbers at LC and Willamette they don't have the bodies for JV programs.

I do understand that there are real costs involved.  You have to pay the officials which is going to be several hundred dollars per game.  Then you have to take the players and coaches away from practice which if you are starting to install the gameplan for the upcoming Saturday may be problematic.  I think the other issue has simply been a lack of numbers of the big guys up front.

Cats need to come up big with some taller, faster WR's as well as 3-4 QBs.  We have zero QBs coming back next year aside from Smith which is a scary deal.  O line looks solid, D looks great, RB is great, kicking should be better...

Was at the game... if that is the #1 team in the nation then the Cats aren't that far off talent-wise from being a very solid D3 program.  The game changed late in the 1st half when NWU went from zone to man and from then on out it was hard for the Cats to get good looks.  Our gunner had foul trouble and wasn't a factor in the game - Roggenbuck. But the point guard came to play.  I'm interested to see if the Cats can break through against Whitman and Whitworth this year.  If they can put together two solid halves I'd say that they have a good shot at it.  We need to get our #35 out for football as he is missing his calling playing hoops... guy would be an All American TE, DT, OT versus the first big off the bench in hoops...

Must say that I am not thrilled with our schedule makers... flying all the way to Rowan then flying to Redlands... are we that hard up to find teams to play us that we have to open two consecutive seasons with super long road trips?  Granted, playing within D3 is much better than playing vs NAIA but still I question the planning that allows this to happen two years in a row (a long road trip for the first game).

It would seem that more D3 teams should be wiling to do a home and home with us now that it looks like we have dropped off a bit from the talent level of a few years ago.

I know that I'm a bit of a broken record on this topic, but I'd like to see our o-line scheme change to a more attacking the line of scrimmage vs all this zone stuff.  Our blocking scheme seems stagnant as compared to what I'm seeing from other teams.  It works against okay defenses but fails against stout ones.

Will next year be "Leave no Doubt II"... similar circumstances as a loss to a NAIA school plus a loss to the NWC champion.
