LLAMA
I have referred to some 9-1 ODAC teams sittiing and in essence BC went 8-1. The non conference loss would not have kept the Eagles out. I feel your pain; not as bad because it's your team. Generally BC has been a good playoff team. In the early 2000's BC and HSC KILT each other with one loss. Was the famous Skoal there with a brew?

If memory serves.....E&H got left out with a 10 and 0 record before the ODAC had the AQ.

Agreed! At BC's current injury rate, they would not field a very healthy team in a playoff game, but I bet they would have loved to go regardless.  :o

BC 35,W&L 34 Final in OT

W&L went for the win and the pass was dropped on the 2 point try.
The celebration for BC will be short lived as the Eagles realize they can  no longer get the ODAC bid to the playoffs.
It was a great win and hats off to Coach Clark and the team but how much does the loss at Ferrum hurt now? ::)

Hurts enough to keep a 2-loss team home for the playoffs as you know already. There may be as many as two 2-loss teams in the OAC which would definitely be ahead of a 2-loss BC if we get to that point. On the positive side, an 8-2 season with the injuries incured and no playoffs isn't all bad. Win out this year, let the chips fall where they may and play all the big games in the ODAC at home in 2010. I like where this team is heading.  ;)

Congratulations to Bridgewater on their win today -- Coach Clark's 100th since he started at BC in 1995.

It is especially impressive seeing he took over a program that had won 121 games over its first 63 seasons.

It was also his 54th ODAC win in 15 seasons. Prior to his arrival, BC had only 19 ODAC wins over the first 19 seasons since the conference's inception in 1976.

Again, congrats to Coach Clark. Great coach, and an even better man.

Ditto those comments! In time of celebration he even took time to thank every parent, president, family member, past player, and fan he could get in. A class person, coach, father, and man!

The Eagles are one player position away from winning ODAC Championships again. Which one I won't mention, you guys figure it out.  :o

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Homecoming!

Last year I attended the game with Hampden Sydney at Jopson Field.
We were down 30-6 going into the 4th and Vince Reese sparked us at QB with 4 TD's in a 37-34 loss.
He went 2 of 3 yesterday passing for 21 yards and had 2 carries for 5 yards but we waited too long to insert him into the game to see if he could bring us back again.
Hagan is still doing a better job than last year because he is no longer the most sacked QB in the nation but if it were me I would have Vince and Hagan compete in practice for the starting QB job vs Guilford. Stay tuned.

The DNR article had a quote from a HSC player that said "We were calling plays before they ran them," the junior said with a grin.  I think our offensive play calling has gotten too vanilla. If the other team could study films and pick out what we were going to run before we ran it there is a problem upstairs too. Maybe we are one coach away from an ODAC Championship.

Have to say I think the coaching has improved from 2007. Coach even mentioned on the postgame that there were some missed reads at the line of scrimmage. They may have known what was coming but had we checked out of it there could have been a different result. If they knew our plays then giving up 2 or possibly 3 TDs to it isn't saying much. (3 ints in the endzone took care of those scores) The correct calls were made, just need a little better execution. The good thing is we are still a good team, just not quite a champinship team.
ps. There were quit a few dropped balls as well so it doesn't fall on one set of shoulders as well.  ;)

I think the Bridgewater Record Book is one of the best that I have seen.  I really liked how they went back through the entire history of the program.

It takes a "Kid" on a mission to put something like that together. Heck he may be the best hire Mr. Groh ever made at UVA! ;)

Extremely quiet from the BC folks. Makes me think all of those Eagles fans were nothing but aliases for the kid.

LOL! Yeah he was kind of like E.F. Hutton in here. Oh no, I think I just showed my age.  :D

This BC fan is busy with a daughter in U12 Travel Soccer. Guardedly optimistic about the 2009 Eagles. Should know more after the next 3 weeks. So far injuries are not on our side so will take a wait and see approach. ;)

I still find it hard to understand how HSC can totally dominate a team that is picked second in the USA South and Bridgewater can win a shootout by 10 to a team that is picked lower and people still think Bridgewater should be ranked higher.  I am not saying that HSC should even be in the top 10.  They have much more to prove.  They have the opportunity by playing the ODAC schedule and Salisbury later in the year.  I am just trying to understand some of the logic.   I know you have to rank the teams and it is for discussion purposes but when teams are totally dominate against a good team or get shut out without showing much of anything there should be some movement.

You are on the money HSC85. Basically the only way I will rank BC over HSC is "if" they beat SU, Ferrum, Lycoming, & HSC. Or HSC has a bad loss first. BC played with it's 4th & 5th string RBs from the half on last week. One of the top 3 is possibly out for the year. The defense that now has one year of starting experience had some assignment issues last Saturday. The tell tail sign is the improvement from Week 1 to Week 2. If BC goes to SU and handles the Hornets, gains some momentum, then the sky is the limit. At this point the questions of injuries, O-line & QB play will determine the fate of BC's season.

From a proud dad in Texas!

Just a note to those in the ODAC who know CruAlum39.  He will soon leave the ranks of bachelorhood.  He is getting married on June 20 to a delightful young lady who is a former volleyball player at Sam Houston State.  He and his bride will reside in San Antonio where he is now the defensive coordinator for San Antonio Churchill HS.
Congratulations and best wishes to all!

Does this mean no more Stagg Bowl, Hooters visiting, scooter riding, drinking in the parkinglot times for Cru39?  :o Congrats from Llamaguy!

Congrats too all my Mt. Union bretheren! Since you now have "a ring for the other thumb", I guess it's time to start sizing up for those pedal rings!  ;D ;D

Well played game. Your QB matured greatly from 2007 and quite frankly was the best player on the field, doing all that was necessary to lead the Purple Raidiers to victory.

I would also like to thank everyone who came by Stone Station to see us again. People may say they hate Mt. Union but I say they hate the tradition. There is no better players, coaches, and more fervent fans in D-III when it comes time to fill the stands in Salem. ;) I tip my cap to all that is Mt. Union!

I have attached a link to the articles run in the Roanoke Times this morning about the game and tailgating. There is a link to the game photos on the page as well. (Note: no where near the photos that Ryan C. takes, but hey it is a local paper.) Enjoy #10 and we will watching and waiting for 2009!

What the heck is a Shiraz?

I'll be bringing a hometown brew that is made down in Elkton, VA - Coors Lite -----come on.

That a boy Snake....I knew I could count on you for a response!!  ;)  I drink Coors Light all the time when I am thirsty and need a glass of water.  :D
Great news....I just ordered a case of Legend Brown Ale. A local merchant was able to get for me. Will arrive by Friday. Come on Snake...hoist a pint with me Saturday. I promise it will go great with the planned menu.

Syrah is a dark-skinned variety of grape used in wine. Syrah is grown in many countries and is primarily used to produce powerful red wines, which enjoy great popularity in the marketplace, relatively often under the synonym Shiraz. Syrah is used both for varietal wines and in blended wines, where it can be both the major and minor component. It is called Syrah in its country of origin, France, as well as in the rest of Europe, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay , and most of the United States.

I once went out with a gal named Syrah. Atleast that is the way I pronounced it as she walked out the door toward the walk of shame at ole BC. Must have been some of them there Coors Lites that altered my speech. :o

And yes BH2H, wear the @*^& ring, you earned it! LOL!

llama, what are the plans for the early start?  we will be there friday night, about the same time as last year 900 or so, i hope.  i dont think we will make a trip into roanoke since the game and tailgate will start so early, but let me know if there are plans to be at the same bar, the name of which i forget.  i may try to leave a little earlier, but that may depend on the wife who has had to work overtime recently.  also, what is on the menu?  we may bring something to add to it, cheese and pepporoni or something like that.  i will certainly bring some microbrew from pa, going with victory out of downingtown, great variety pack.  also may pick up some troegs or lancaster brewing co.

really looking forward to seeing you guys again snce it didnt work out this year for tailgating at wesley.  i have tickets in row 2 waiting for me at will call, so i was able to get the same as you guys.  had to call the ticket agency since ticketmaster was only giving the west stands.

talk to you during the week and see you guys on saturday.

wesleydad....look forward to meeting you Sat. I like your idea of bringing regional brews. I have had several of the Victory and Troegs but not familiar with Lancaster. Virginia has a few good ones these days. I have a few in the fridge from Starr Hill and Blue Mountain in Albemarle County near Charlottesville that I will bring Sat. Unfortunately, I drank the couple of 22's I had of one of the best (Legend Brown Ale) made in Richmond.  :-[  I'll see if I can round up a few before Sat. There is also Dominion in NOVA that has several great brews. Maybe we can have a little pre-game micro tasting.  ;D  This ole redneck beer snob has also been drinking some great Shiraz of late. I would bring some along but am afraid Llama and Co. might kick me out of the family for turning Stone Station into a UVA tailgate.  :D

ROFL! I attended a few of those this year. Good thing Mr. Barnhart doesn't frequent this site as much anymore. :D He may be there to defend himself on Saturday!
