Another season of Hoopsville has drawn to a close, so its time to look back at this year... and look foward to next season.

The 2005-2006 season was the longest for Hoopsville, with the season premiere the Tuesday before the season started (Nov. 15) and finishing up last Tuesday (March 21). It was certainly a fun and action packed season, but those who work hard on the program are looking forward to getting their Tuesday nights back.

However, I am interested in what people thought of the show, the new segments, the podcasts, and many other questions.

So, as I take a slight look ahead and start planning next season (yes, it's never too early), I would love some feedback.

This past season we added "Coach's Corner", thanks the the NABC. It was a segment with coaches from around the nation. And we didn't just cover how their season was going and how their team was doing, but what the coaches were doing off the court. Did you enjoy this segment? Was there anything we didn't cover with coaches you wished we did?

We also added the ability to hear the show within 24 hours of broadcast. The shows were broken into hourly segments and interviews were pulled out of the show individually. Was this helpful? Was allowing them to be available for two weeks enough time?

Also, we encouraged listeners to chat with us LIVE via AOL IM or email. Was this a good feature? How can we make it better?

The show was also on Tuesdays for three hours. I am not sure if this will be possible next season. With a possible career change that could change my location in the great-old USA, we might need to consider other ideas. Are there any other days or times people may like (i.e. Sunday evenings)? Was 3 hours a good length?

Feel free to answer those questions or bring up some of your own. We are looking to understand what those who listened and participated in Hoopsville, thought of the show. (Or even those who somehow missed the fact we had a show!)

I missed Kevin Van de Streek early in the year, but never saw the archive of that show... what happened?

Unfortunetly, that interview took place one of the first shows of the year and that was a time we were still dealing with archive problems at the radio station. I believe, the show after Van de Streek was on, we went to our backup plan for the rest of the season.

However... I may be able to dig it up and find it (off chance). I will try and look around and let you know.

I really enjoyed the coaches corner and regional reports.  I also used the AIM chat multiple times every week and really liked it (great way to give direct feedback and answers to unknown questions).

Basketball season is quickly sneaking up on everyone! In about a month and a half... tip-off will be here!!! So, with some time to think and plan... I want to double-check with everyone on ideas and thoughts.

I would love to hear from everyone and anyone as to what they like/dislike about Hoopsville and what they might like to see this season.

I am certainly working on bringing the show back... so please don't hesistate to share your ideas.

I look forward to all of your thoughts.

I've heard the Midwest/West reporter is top-notch - maybe you should give him a raise.

Yeah; he deserves to be able to eat at Wendy's and not use the dollar menu.

Did you remember to include 'CCIW Pickems Champion' on your resume?  THAT oughta impress 'em! Grin

I, for one, would double the salaries of all of the regional reporters. Except Jared -- cut his in half. Smiley

Better be careful - there seem to be a LOT of lawyers on this site.  Jared may get talked into a 'hostile work environment' suit! Grin

So, I am guessing that no one has any good ideas Smiley.

Just kidding... I will certainly "look" into getting people paid... but can't promise anything with that Smiley.

Anyway... we are working hard on the new season of Hoopsville - though we haven't really come up with where the show will broadcast from.

I am also thinking about adding a segment called the "School of the Week". The premise... any school can send the show a couple of t-shirts and something unique about the program. We then pick one school for the week and interview a coach, player, what ever from the school so we can learn more about that program and school.

We are also hoping to talk with college radio stations about helping us promote the show. If you have anything to do with a college radio station, please get in touch with us about how we can help promote this show, possibly during basketball game coverage.

Just a few ideas!!!

Anyone ready for the basketball season? We are certainly getting ready at Hoopsville. We are temporarily planning to debut the show on Sunday, November 19th at 7 PM. That is a new day of the week... which we hope will only make the show better.

At this time, we will be broadcasting once again from the new and improved Goucher College Radio Station (at least the stream and server are new and improved) and will once again be podcasting the show.

We are also going to be adding new "segments". One we are certainly going to introduce is the "School of the Week." This is a segment which you the fans/players/coaches/SIDs/parents can take part in by nominating your favorite college or university. All you have to do is send us a couple of t-shirts (XL, if possible), hats, or something else with your schools or teams name on it. Each week we will then pick a team to feature and either invite that school's coach or player onto the show to talk about their team! All we ask is that you take this seriously and send something we can feature in a picture on our website and send to your athletic department so they can let everyone know about it.

To submit a nomination... please email us at hoopsville@d3hoops.com and we will send you our address. Or, check out the Hoopsville website in the coming week for more information and the address. And don't worry if you are not picked at first... depending on how many we get, your school may be picked later in the season!

And there is a new website to go along with the great one we have on D3hoops.com. Make sure to check out Hoopsville on MySpace: www.myspace.com/d3hoopsville

Also, we are looking for extra help on the show. If there is anyone, especially anyone in the Baltimore/Washington, DC metroplex, that is interested in helping us put the show together, please contact me. You would be an integral part of setting up interviews, doing research, helping with the weekly newsletter, and anything else we may need to put each week's show on the air (even helping produce in studio, if you are from the area).

And as we have mentioned all off-season... we certainly hope you will submit ideas to us... now and in the future. I check this page at least once a day... so don't be shy!
