LOL, I love this quote:
Quote
I remember one time he (Gagliardi) came up to me, and says "Hi, how’s it going?" I said, "Fine, John," and he looked at me and said, "Then why the hell did you miss that block on that D Back?”
I can remember similar conversations with John

I've heard good things about both kids, but to say "there's no point in working that hard" irks me a little bit.
I don't think it was meant as, "D3 players don't work hard." I think it was meant that it's a more relaxed atmosphere than D2. In my days, we had several NDSU and SCSU transfers, and the stories they told of their practices were totally foreign to those of us that spent our entire careers at SJU.
I think SJU practices would be totally foreign to ANY football player, D3 or D2.

Just read the article about vanderheyden as well; Did not realize that he went to wazyata. I've gotta imagine you can count on one hand the number of times a 14 year old kid watching his high school win a championship from the stands, would 5 years later go on to college and have an opportunity to play with some of the players he looked up to in high school. especially rare as the starting quarterback...
maybe I've just got wazyata on the brain (watch out for #34) waiting for tonights beatdown of champlin park.

Any one have connections on the planet Zoltar? It would be nice to get the White Silly back on the board in time for the playoffs.

See you in the morning folks. It's the happy season for me now - we've both gone through daylights savings adjustments and the start time is 6am for me. Happy Sundays from now until Salem.

I know I'll get a reprimand from TDT for back to back posts however a whole football game has passed since my voice came echoing back from an empty MIAC board.... did everyone decided to go deer hunting today?
Anyway, Johnnies did enough to preserve victory and claim conference title number 31. Given a freshman quarterback was running the show, 3
touchdowns was a decent enough show.
More injuries bug the Johnnies with Red Dog Reding going down with a knee injury.
Johnnie D gives up 100 yards today on 50 some odd plays. Joe B. Quarterback returns in two weeks to run the West Region show from Collegeville.
Developing....

I thought that was a pretty good win. It sounded like a good win to me. Good execution by the Johnnies on both sides of the ball and particularly by the defense.
Also, congratulations to team on securing their 31st (correct?) MIAC championship as well as securing a position in the post season. It's been a real pleasure listening (and watching one game!) this year. Thanks for the efforts, boys, and best of luck as your winning ways hopefully continue.
EDIT: And I just checked the
box score
and saw some pretty outstanding stats. The defense held the Auggies to 0 yards rushing and just 100 overall. Also, Mr. Special Teams, Russell Gliadon, was punting this week like a pro - 4 punts total at an average over 43 yards and three inside 20's with one touch back. Nice.
EDIT II: And I see at Frank Rajkowski's blog that Redding was helped off the field. I didn't realize it was that bad. On the radio they said that it was likely just a sprain and not a really bad injury. Let's hope for the best.

Sorry to say I won't be making the trip up to C-Ville for the regular season finale. My older brother is the coach of Nicollet and they advanced to state in 9-man and will be playing in Rochester @ noon on Saturday.
They play Grand Meadow @ RCC and if they win will play in the dome on the same Saturday as the first round of the DIII playoffs. Gotta pull for my brother and my nephew (sophomore d-back and receiver).
Last night in their section final one of the starting linebackers for St. Clair was 5'3" 130 pounds!!!!

Three questions for the board.
1. Outside of a 53-yard TD run by a receiver, GAC finished with 58 yards rushing on 36 carries against the Oles. Is that good?
2. Where was Flannery today? Not a single carry?
3. How scared are the Johnnies of the Tommies, now that they've apparently found a QB who can throw? I'd LOVE to see that rematch in the postseason...assuming UST can somehow sneak past Northwestern in its finale, anyway.
