And for some odd reason, Rev keeps calling the Midway ... "The Minneapolis Club."

Rev, I know you have a sense of humor. This is frickin' funny!

Yeah, it's funny. I haven't been to the Midway in years. I think the last time was a late-night boozer at the Turf Club, capped off by a stop at the nearby White Castle.

On playing at Allianz Field, I totally understand the desire to host the Tommie/Johnnie game off campus. Dealing with all those drunk Johnnies must be a real nightmare, and it's heartbreaking for the grounds crew when the stampede of Bennies tramples the Lower Quad.

I wish UST could find a way to make some updates to the press box and grandstand however. Football is meant to be played on campus.

I mentioned this in a few posts back. When this does happen, and it will someday, it will have to be a complete teardown and rebuild. It will also be at a different location than the current O'Shag. (like on their St. Catherine's Campus) ;)

As it's the off-season for the MIAC and pre-season training has just started for the AFL, here's some good viewing.  The tension builds in this game to a thrilling finish.  The final quarter of the 2007 Elimination Final between Hawthorn and Adelaide.

Repete,

The Midway Motel, while great for discrete mid-day dalliances of the extramarital sort, in no way holds a candle to the amenities the FABULOUS Westward Ho used to provide. RIP sweet prince.

As far as UST's stadium is concerned, I say cut track. Build bleachers. Problem solved.

I think I stayed at one in grand forks-very classy.
After his second touchdown catch in a record-setting day, St. John's receiver Will Gillach pointed skyward. That, folks, was for former head coach John Gagilardi. The legendary coach of the Johnnies for 60 seasons and 64 in college overall died Sunday. He was 91. His 489 victories are most in college football history in any division.

And a little light humour with a player, Jack Higgins of the Richmond Tigers, who is a frequent media interview basically because he's had absolutely zero media training and apparently has no intention of every getting any.  He's an interview train wreck.

And Australia has it's Bill Belichick when it comes to angry media interviews as well.

Bethel's coach seems like a great guy.  He was obviously very emotional in the link you've provided and his feelings for his team are very clear.  I had the opportunity to talk with him for a few minutes Friday night and he was the kind of guy that immediately makes a positive impression and seemed very sincere.  I liked him a lot and actually would have liked to spend more time talking with him.  But he had things to attend to.

I know I'm late with this but congrats on your season.  Bethel was an excellent team and we were lucky they make mistakes early.
If you try to fail and succeed which have you done?

Very lucky. If those mistakes weren't made the outcome would probably be very different.

Finalists for the 2018 Gagliardi Trophy will be announced at 3pm Central today. D3Football will be live streaming the announcement and here's a link to where you can find it.

https://www.d3football.com/notables/2018/12/gagliardi-finalist-announcement

The quality of the 13 semifinalists is great so there's certainly going to be some that are worthy of being a finalist that won't be named one.

Oz: So checking a car rental  website for a quick trip back to MSP and was offered a "Holden Statesman" or similar. Is this something they set up for you? And what side is the steering wheel on?

Are Statesmen being sold in the US?  I thought they had been discontinued a few years ago. If you drive a Statesman then the steering wheel location does't matter as the road is shifted beneath you.

Have not seen one on this side of the equator, but almost tempted to try ... except I'd probably get stuck with a Buick LaCrosse.
