"well...not entirely...while mt. union (specifically) isn't among the teams that cnu has played, i think the cnu fans have illustrated the high-quality nature of cnu’s ooc schedule – the cnu ooc schedule is littered with numerous top 25 teams (and a few top 10 teams)...we (and i think i can speak for everyone on this board) assumed when you said "mt. unions", this was the type of competition you were referring to  - this seems like a logical assumption since you used the plural form - “mt. unions” - when everyone knows there is only one mt. union college playing division III football – if you meant to say cnu has not played mt. union, you should not have pluralized and said so directly

words are powerful when used properly

i will now refrain from defending cnu and commence rooting for a monarch win vs. the pride"

Crazylegs - obviously the first comment was a typo.  In the original 'quote" it was meant to say "no one is saying CNU's out of conference schedule is weak".
why is that obvious?...record and schedule are two very different things, not often confused with one another - say what you mean, mean what you say

Out of conference is now 14 - 21 or .400 winning percentage and there aren't any Mt. Unions on that schedule. Enjoy what you are.
The other comment you highlighted was accurate.

I am going to start selling tickets and see how much money we can raise. Right now I feel like everyone needs to take a good double shot (on the rocks) of Wild Turkey and relax.

I am glad everyone else seems to understand where Crazy, 9, and myself are coming from in regards to this argument. As far as the OSU comparison those are fighting words in my eyes. LOL "not really"did make me laugh though.

Go Buckeyes.... Ahhhh Hmmmm I mean Captains. LOL

Narch and Hasanova are the Yin and the Yang of the d3football boards, mess with either and your life might disappear before your very eyes  Grin

"Beneath the rule of men entirely great, the pen is mighter than the sword."  Richelieu, [1839] Act II, scene ii  Baron Edward Bulwer-Lytton

Sometimes I think narch has cloned himself so he's simultaneously both the Yin and the Yang, but I find it flattering we're both mentioned here.  Smiley  The thing that separates narch, I think, from more pedestrian posters is his ability to analyze, reason and, then, present a lucid argument.  It's not difficult, but most of us are too lazy to do our homework (both literally and figuratively).   The differences between a sophomoric bit of twisted (and ultimately, doomed) logic and a compelling (and ultimately, convincing) argument can be as subtle as taking the time to look up definitions, putting punctuation marks where they belong, uncovering facts (what a concept!) and picking just the perfect word.  It's not rocket science, but it is an art ... and narch is the king of the "jumble"!

It's true that this forum is about sports and not grammar, but it is about college sports and I often wish more of us would write as though we'd picked up something along the way.   Smiley   Olympic gold medal winners rarely make mistakes and have no wasted efforts.  A great wordsmith does the same - every word matters - and sometimes less is more!

On a more humorous note, one of my favorite examples of the importance of punctuation:

The panda eats shoots and leaves.

or

The panda eats, shoots and leaves.

All's well in the bamboo patch in the former and the police have issued an APB in the latter.  lol

One of the many things I enjoy about this board is how well written most are.  To the casual observer, one might think James J. Kilpatrick was authoring them.  It's refreshing to see how many have actually kept the books from their first year college English Comp course.

Is this football conversation or a literature/grammar class?

CNUSfinest54 - I scrolled back and saw where my Ohio State analogy also struck a nerve with you.  That was not the intention but it does illustrate how effective writing can stir the passions of the reader.  (I am saying that "tongue in cheek" so we don't need 50 posts on that).    Good luck today.
