Sounds like It could be a wide open Race! The Cats have a strong Sr. Class coming in for their last Run!
And with Lawson done, Grant Williams is Probably the best (GK) in the league. We all know what an advantage a great keeper can be!

I guess only time will tell!

Question?
Do you guys know if the Schools you support  allow slide tackling in practice?

Good luck to all teams, and have a safe and injury free season!

Ummm, seriously, if you know if a program that DOESN'T, why don't you let us know that!  It is a part of the game afterall.  (I think the last time someone ask if you could slide tackle in practice was the U-11 team I coached) Shocked

I understand It's part of the game. But are you going to let a Fr. Def. take out your all time leading scorer with a  knee injury because of  a slide tackle in Practice? I believe there are different levels of slide tackles, and I'm talking the most sever.

I look at it like in Football, you don't let your Qb. get hit unless it's a scrimmage.  Just....IMHO  0f course.

                             So I can't get a reply?  Huh

Loggerville,

Are you still a Coach?

I'll get that info for you as soon as I finish getting the injury report! Wink

NWC preseason poll just released..........

Whitworth (6) 68.........ranked #3 nationally
Linfield (1) 53
UPS 46
PLU 45
Whitman 33
Pacific 20
Willamette 18
George Fox 13

Can Whitworth become the first 3 time NWC Champion since 1990?
The Wildcats might have something to say about that. They return a strong group led by Sr. Keeper Grant Williams. The Cats finished 10-1-3 behind Champions Whitworth and ahead of 10-2-2 UPS.
It looks to me like it could be a wild run for the top spot!

Regarding the now old discussion about tackling in practice - My guess is that it would be up to the individual school's coach.  Like in football, some coaches use a lot of contact in practice, some almost none.  I think the same would be true in soccer.

The season is getting close.  I've seen the Pirates out on the field as I drive by.  They have a scrimmage against North Idaho College (JC) on the 1st before heading to Southern California for tough matches against Cal Lutheran and Redlands to open the season.

Thank you pineconefan,

That's the way I see it. Should be a fun year!

Congrats on the preseason high ranking! #3 is impressive.
It only helps with more exposure for the conference.

Looks like solid starts by all three: Whitworth, Linfield and UPS.  Will any of the other five rise up to challenge the top three this year?  Any one want to pick a candidate?

Yeah, get me that injury report buddy!

So, here we go.  Whitworth is in trouble with a 'loss' in a exhibition against a JC and then a 1-1 trip to Calif.  Let's see how Sean gets the boys ready on a one day practice and off to Canada for some good old NAIA competition.  Does he know that he is getting screwed on the games?  His Sat. opp. played tonight and then rests to get him on Sat. while Frasier is waiting on a three days rest to play them on a Sun game.  Not the best of scheduling if you ask me.  I hope they do well, but looking at the preseason schedule makes me think he should stop worrying about the women and concentrate on the fellas schedule.  I mean who plays at Redlands on a second day (knowing they want ya all after last season's NCAA's) and then has a soft day of training before taking a bus to Vancouver? Not a way to set your team up for a good non-conference run.

They sit a game behind the Loggers in the West Region win column that has to be made up in NWC play.  They can do it, but with the expanded tourney, they could find themselves at UPS in Nov. for the NCAA's due to scheduling....just a thought.

Good luck to everyone.

Hard to say it as a Logger, but nice win last night for the Lutes 6-0 over Colorado College on the road.  Good luck today.
