Trinity and Southwestern are in a fifth set ... for the THIRD time this year ...

Southwestern won first two sets 26-24, 25-23 ...
TU won second two sets 25-20, 25-20 ...

and Trinity wins the fifth set, 21-19.   Both teams had three match points before the Tigers finally converted on the fourth.    The fourth time these teams have faced off and the fourth win for Trinity.

Regional Final will be #2 Cal Lutheran (32-1) vs #14 Trinity (TX) (36-6).

Holland, MI match-ups:

Eastern-PA vs. Emory

UMass-Boston vs. Calvin

Cal Lutheran vs. Clarkson

UW-Stevens Point vs. Hope

Possible X-factor:  IMHO, the team least expected to get this far (at least on paper) is UW-Stevens Point--the question is can they knock off their second consecutive ranked opponent on that opponent's home floor?

Team with most momentum:  CLU--  the Regals' comeback against Hardin-Simmons got them rolling again--however, should they get past Clarkson, they would have to beat Hope to get to the final.

Toss-up:  Eastern-PA vs. Emory  (though Eastern PA knocked off home-standing Juniata in that regional-- :-X :-\

"Extra man" factor-- how many of those in attendance are going to be gunning for a Hope/Calvin championship match?
(UMass-Boston is just about in the same boat as UW-Stevens Point in that regard).

One other stat of note:  At my last check, 6 of these teams were in the Top 20 in the nation in terms of team hitting percentage.

Quarterfinal Winners:

Emory (3-0)

Calvin (3-1)

Cal Lutheran (3-1)

and the upset of the day-- UW-Stevens Point (3-0)  (2nd match in a row the Pointers knock out a host school on that hosts' floor))

It'll be CLU vs Calvin for all the marbles tonight.

(Knights will have the closest thing to home court advantage, but CLU's got a loud fan base as well, and the Regals are on a hot run as well)
