Ann Arbor. Host them at Yost Ice Arena. Capacity just over 6400.

Plenty of nice venues.  Do need a sponsor, and to have the facility available for the correct weekend.  Placid was/is perfect, but as of next year, the ECAC DIs have it for their league semis/finals when the DIII finals are scheduled

How about the Glens Falls Civic Center?  It seats just over 4,800...never mind....NYS High School basketball has it that weekend.  How about moving the tourney back one week (since the start of the season has been pushed back two) and have Skidmore host at the Glens Falls Civic Center? ;D

Do that and Lake Placid comes back in play as a potential venue.  Actually pushing it back makes sense as well because it could allow for a full week between the first round games and the quarter finals

It will also put Minneapolis / St. Paul back in play as their Division I tournaments will be out of town too.

Daunting topic. I'd hope there would be a formula to make a Minneapolis-St. Paul site work.

Would like to see the championships alternate east-west. In some ways talk of having the final four in MSP is like the football board's discussion of putting the Stagg Bowl in Texas, but with creative promotion it could be pulled off. Minny is a nice destination with decent rink options and an easy, national air hub. (A little more game from the MIAC wouldn't hurt either.)

Bottom line, though, there are are going to be times when a host does everything right but things just don't click.

BTW, joecct ... if your are in Md.  near DC, I was stunned to discover the new hockey store on the Rockville Pike. Excellent selection of gear for this part of the country.

To clarify some misinformation I'm seeing out there...the deadline for 2014 FF bids had not passed by the time they axed the combined DI/DIII weekend.  Not even close.

I really have no idea where these ideas come from sometimes.

There's a way to make it work, but for 2014 and 2015 there are conflicts with the WCHA Final Five and Big Ten championship weekends.  I'm just surmising, but it's possible that someone wouldn't bid again for the Twin Cities until those conflicts aren't present.  Attendance is a tough draw as it is and even tougher with either of those in town...
