Finlandia beat Gogebic 91-77...do community colleges count?
Honestly, how does Finlandia even qualify for this contest with the lack of DIII opponents? ???

Finlandia's Sam Casey has to have the toughest coaching job in D3 basketball.  Enrollment is 335.  One must literally travel hours to find another D3 opponent, and the climate in Hancock, Michigan is arguably the worst in the NCAA (all divisions).  They average 205 inches (over 17 feet!) of snow each winter.  Finlandia doesn't have a D3 win since 2017.  Northland College appears to be the closest D3 college, 149 miles away on frequently snowy roads.  The closest Michigan D3 is Alma College, 445 miles away.  Little wonder that they schedule community colleges.

Based on that, what's your recruiting pitch to prospective players?  ???

Whatever that pitch is, it must be good because there's 1 player from Florida and 2 from Texas on the roster.

Probably want to see snow, those kids from Florida & Texas.

And it's not nearly as bad mainly because there are more schools in a shorter distance but UMaine-Presque Isle has to be pretty tough to coach at as well.  And at least they have a conference affiliation so it's probably not nearly as bad well, but Sul Ross State down in Texas I wouldn't call a hot box of activity either.  I don't think there are many colleges, of any level, that are around there.

60% of their schedule was D3, they had 15 D3 opponents this year without a conference and being isolated. Last year they had 13 D3 games.
The other ACAA/Independents are SUNY Delhi with 22 D3 games this year, Pine Manor 20, UC Santa Cruz 16, Valley Forge 13, Maranatha Baptist 10.

Alaska-Fairbanks has a pretty tough climate to deal with, plus the sun never comes up during the basketball season.

Alaska-Fairbanks is south of the Arctic Circle so the sun does rise every day, but granted the cold is brutal.  However, they don't have nearly as much snow as Finlandia.

In Houghton, MI in 2018, they had 317 inchies of snow. That's where my wife is from - and where Michigan Tech is.

All games played regardless of who they were against have always counted both in the winful and winless pool.

I believe I can claim the championship of the winless pool.
