San Antonio FC's USL2 team made its debut last night (a 1-3 loss to Laredo Heat SC) and numbers five Trinity(TX) players on its roster; GK Brandon Gongora (wearing jersey #1), defenders Leo Jauregui and Daniel Urquide, midfielder Mateo Machado, and forward Max Salinas. Jauergui and Machado are incoming first years; the former started for SAFC's first team (USL) during a friendly against La Liga side Union Deportiva Las Palmas in 2025, playing 72 minutes.

Middlebury's endowment increased from $1.6B in June '24 to $1.73B in June '25; it'll be interesting to see what they do with the proceeds of this sale. The balance sheet is strong with $2.4B in assets and $539M in liabilities, of which $372M (edit: not B!) is long-term debt.

It's not up on their website, but Trinity's schedule has been obtained and posted by our friends at D3Football.com. Notably, unusually, and welcome, none of the first three home games kick off earlier than 7pm (TLU; PLU and McMurry, 8pm). The first afternoon home game comes October 2nd against Berry. All remaining games, home and away, kick off between 1 and 3pm.

D3 (and the other NCAA divisions) have approved rule changes that were previously discussed:
Video review challenges: when "video review is used" [not defined], each coach can use up to two challenges at any point in the game [do not seem to get additional challenges if successful]. Officials in the first 80 minutes can only initiate review for clock issues and to see if a ball crossed the goal line; in last ten can initiate review "for all allowable plays" but only if a team has no challenges remaining (same for OT).
GKs must release ball within eight seconds after "gaining possession". Officials will make a visual signal for the last five seconds of the count. Penalty is a corner kick for the opposing team.
Subs can be made "any time the clock is stopped" in D3/D2 and for all women's divisions.
For violent behavior red card ejections, the NCAA secretary-rules editor and a designated committee, rather than the referee on the field during the game, will determine acts of Violent Behavior II.
Teams can have four 15-by-15-foot commercial logos on the field (two on each half) on the field of play outside the penalty areas if they do not obscure required markings.
All yellow cards given to the coaching staff will be charged to the head coach for accumulation purposes.
For all three women's divisions and Division II and III men's regular-season games, a running clock will occur in the last 15 minutes if there is a five-goal margin. The clock will return to standard rules if the margin drops below five goals.
If a player from each team is treated by medical personnel after a penalty kick is awarded, both players can remain in the game.
Each red card ejection will carry its own penalty with no additional games missed for successive red cards.
Devices for collecting data can be worn on the wrist or arm if properly padded and covered.
If a game is delayed by weather, there should be a maximum three-hour wait from the scheduled start time until the all-clear is given to begin warmups. If a game has started, there can be a three-hour window from the point of the first interruption to the all-clear to resume play. Conferences will have oversight to extend these windows.
Specific to D1, a fourth official is now mandatory, and a "video match official", either at the site or a centralized location, can assist when video review is used.

Trinity AC Thomas Orr, a late add to the staff after former AC Sterling Holmes left coaching for a better opportunity just before the season started, has been named HC at Lyon. Coach Rock will have to hire another assistant in less than a year.

#49 as of this morning's update. 4-6 in last ten, five of those losses (three to Rhodes alone) by one run, did them no favors.

Rhodes beat Trinity, 3-2.
Centre is up 6-0 with Rhodes still to bat in the third. The Colonels did all their damage (so far) in the top of the first, chasing starter Nathan Shumway after two-thirds of an inning.

And Rhodes gets past Trinity(TX) 3-2, very possibly putting an end to the Tigers' most challenging season in many years (it would be the first time since 2018 they don't make the postseason).

The two top seeds in the SAA, Trinity and Rhodes, will play an elimination game to see who will be the sacrificial lamb in the championship series vs #4 Centre. Rhodes is playing its third game of the weekend, Trinity, its fourth. The winner will face a fresh Colonel squad playing only its third. The Lynx (35th in NPI) probably have clinched an at-large bid even with a loss; Trinity (45th) might have to win two to secure a bid but winning one against higher-ranked Rhodes could do the trick. Centre is 46th, two losses would mean they're out but they'll have two chances against a tired team to win one and the auto bid.

Trinity(TX) stays alive with a 16-6 run-rule (six 1/2 inning) win over Berry and a 6-4 come-from-behind victory against Oglethorpe, scoring four unearned in the bottom of the eighth for the eventual winning margin. They will play Rhodes in the final elimination game with the winner having to defeat suddenly hot Centre twice for the SAA championship.
