Quote from: sjujohnnie on Yesterday at 05:05:44 PMSounds like Herberg may have delivered a thrashing with his tongue at halftime. Will be interesting to see how we look against the Cobbers!

I was observing him "conversing" with some of the other defensive coaches on the track at half time and yes he did not appear pleased.

Mac was improved and had a good crowd there for homecoming. I wasn't surprised SJU wasn't dominating at the start but from an about mid second quarter on it was all Johnnies. Good to get a little sloppy play out of the way. Cobbers are the only real test left in the regular season.

Feeling a little shocked by the result of the game. I recall being shocked by a loss but b not too often by a win. It's not that I was surprised SJU won but  by how dominant they were.

I got to rewatch the game this morning...video stream was much better however the audio had an echo during the first quarter.

Game reminded me a little bit of the last U$T game in Collegeville. BU was so aggressive on D...the quick hitting underneath routes and play action seemed to take advantage of what BU was doing on defense. SJU seemed really focused aside from the 2 personal fouls that got Obering ejected.
Wondering if the long delay maybe took a bit of steam out of BU by the 2nd half?

Props to Melvin Wallace after Oberding got ejected. Oberding might have been a little too amped up for the game. Not sure the team still practices the "Walk Away Drill" but they might want to bring that back. Gary said in during the postgame interview that on the 2nd penalty his helmet hit the BU player's helmet as the guy was getting up and it was interpreted as a head butt.
Gary also said that he feels this team prepares better than other teams he's had.

Roughing the Passer on BU looked a little weak...defender looked like he slapped the QBs helmet a little...might have got the facemark.

Charlie King was a major problem for BU, Vincent Pyne was amazing filling in for Rogalski and freshman DB Isaiah Kelly was all over the place!

300 lb tight end for BU...he was listed at 280 last season. Seemed to be not as effective for the Royals this time around.

A few big missed tackles by SJU...maybe the wet conditions.

If shovel passes counted as rushing yards Johnnies would have easily been over 100 yards rushing. Bohmert had 57 receiving yards and the team had 75 running yards.
Sophomore RB Sedric Melvin Jr could be a big piece of the offense as the season progresses.

Johnnies finished drives yesterday. 4-4 inside the red zone.

A couple other things:

2 of the 3 incompletions for SJU in the first half were just dropped.
Amazing job throwing the ball by Feeney in not very desirable conditions. The o-line gave him a great pocket...one sack and I believe that was late. 38/43  for 355 and 6 td's....203 QB rating

A really weird stat in my opinion... BU ran 78 plays to our 64 but had time of possession of 24:39 to our 35:31

Biggest issue for the Johnnies was penalties. I think there were 3 personal foul calls.

Johnnies defense shut down the BU offense compared to North Central.
Royals had 263 total yards yesterday versus the 449 they rolled up against North Central.

And the Johnnie punter was huge.

Mine was pretty good yesterday. Audio had a horrible echo earlier in the game but they seemed to get that fixed. I wish they wouldn't zoom so much sometimes so we can see what's happening away from the ball.

Quote from: sjujohnnie on October 03, 2026, 10:36:59 AMGood morning to all of the posters! A historic day in Collegeville with a first-ever College GameDay event! Curious what the final attendance count will be. Hoping St John's looks like a contender!

It appears that the Johnnies Gameday stream is delayed or not working. Hoping the the game feed will work.
There's a saying kids use. It's "you're doing too much." I think it kind of fits here.

Quote from: sjujohnnie on September 29, 2026, 05:20:14 PMSounds like the feed to the festivities in Collegeville is free and begins at 11:00.

Oo-oo - can anyone else confirm this? And is this fallout from the poor reception of the Hamline debacle? (Anyone notice the double meanings in the question?  :D )

Looks like it's still pay per view. I exchange a few kind emails w/ the new AD. I won't be able to make the trip up to C-Ville and will be watching from home. If the video stream isn't markedly improved I won't be so kind in any follow up messages.
My Netflix is about $20 per month and ESPN+ starts at $13.99.
For $15 per game the SJU stream should be top notch!

Quote from: gobigred425 on September 26, 2026, 04:00:15 PMNothing to glean I dont think. Defense looks very very good and that is without Aiden McMahon playing a snap all year.

Something interesting to note- unlike the last 3 SJU QBs, I do think the next All American QB is currently on the roster and is a freshman. Whether it is Tracy or Ramler is still to be seen. Both very good.

I think Ramler's dad was a hell of a tight end for the Johnnies. At 6'6" I wonder if he would ever make the switch? I'm guessing he and Tracy are of a much different style at QB. Would be a shame to lose either one of them to a rival.

Quote from: sjujohnnie on September 26, 2026, 03:45:30 PMCan anything be gleaned from today's performance against Augsburg? Consecutive offensive explosions of 70+ & the defense pitching consecutive shutouts. Is it a reflection of how good we are? How bad our last two opponents have been? Both? Any thoughts/feelings ahead of the monster matchup with Bethel? I'm beyond nervous to face Bethel.
The positive to me is that SJU didn't play down to their opponent. It seems like every once in a while a team will take a lesser opponent for granted and will play poorly. Other than that not sure there's much to learn from beating Hamline and Augsburg. I watched quite a bit of the BU / NCC game and their offense will be the best and strongest the Johnnies play this season. Their o-line is big and strong and they have two solid running backs...if they had not turned the ball over against NCC it would have been a different game. The Johnnies will find out how good their defense is and the offense needs to score touchdowns when they're inside the 20's.

QB #4 Kyle Tracy showed a little Kaleb Blaha like speed today...granted it was late in the game. Also it looks like he's #3 and ahead of fellow freshman Nathan Ramler.

Hope the female staff on the SJU sideline is ok.

Quote from: bennie on September 25, 2026, 10:56:31 PMJust a reminder that tomorrow's Johnnie game starts at noon. This messes with my schedule ( since it's 10am my time)!

Thank you!

It started at 12:00 pm and was over about 12:01 pm

I've even had the seat warmer on in the car a couple of mornings...mostly because I have stiff lower back and it helps to loosen it up.

Thanks to the missus, I've failed before the game even started...

I had the gas fireplace on a couple times in the past week and am not one bit ashamed.

Quote from: sju56321 on September 20, 2026, 10:51:21 AMFauch, I'm with you. I emailed HUDL right when the steam was spinning and requested a refund, since I was missing the game. The response came at half time saying, everything looks good, you need to watch the steam where you have more bandwidth. wTF, it wasn't my bandwidth, but your crappy streaming. HUDL and SJU are an embarrassment with the stream.

Yep...i was using the MIAC app and when the SJU feed told me to check my network I checked out the free Auggie football feed and a couple volleyball feeds without a problem. I watch SJU basketball games free of charge all winter long and never have an issue. **** I watch high school games online and don't have the issues like yesterday.
I've said it a hundred times that you can't charge a premium for these streams unless they are a quality product and you are 100% sure it will work.

I emailed the AD, the SID, Director od Communications and the President of the University. At a restaurant if i get charged for $15 entree and it sucks Im going to say something.

I suggest you message them too:

Keep us updated. At minimum everyone who paid for the Hamline game should get a refund. As a goodwill gesture, the Bethel game (Oct. 3) should also be no charge to active subscribers.IMO

I received a reply from Athletic Director Dan O'Brien apologizing for the issues:

Thanks for your note regarding our streaming yesterday. I apologize for the poor quality of the broadcast. At this point, we're not sure what the issue was. I can assure you that we will address this first thing tomorrow morning. You and our fans deserve better. Thank you for your support.

Go Johnnies!

I doubt they will provide the Bethel stream for free. At a minimum some public acknowledgment of the issues would be the decent thing to do. I mean collecting $15 for a service and then literally not coming through with the expected product is a little shady in my opinion. I have no idea how many people typically pay to watch but if they can get an extra 300 paying that's another $4,500 in the coffers.
