Mid-season? Damn. Bokman is listed as the starting RB this week so I guess the writing is on the wall though with a freshman starting.
I'm guessing there is a thing about playing less than X amount of games in a year, then you can have another handful of years of eligibility and play until 25 or 26

sure thing Pat. Like your #2 team in the country would ever get two losses

excited for the 1-2 NCC/Wheaton matchup this weekend. Just a little concerned about NCC likely winning by a couple of scores...do my Purple Raiders drop even further down in the rankings?

A first time, indeed!!
I mean, I can certainly see how Franklin & Marshall vaulted from the unranked to #22.
Afterall, the records of the teams they have defeated is 3-14.
Until yesterday, it was 1-12.
as a Mount homer, I hope that a young Raiders team can gain some confidence as the weeks go on and use the voters as "disrespect" and embrace the "Mount against the world" mentality.
Unless Berg goes 9-1 for the first time...ever? Mount has everything in the front of them. Win out and you're in the dance. I wish I had more confidence in the leadership in the program to use the adversity, but maybe the assistants can make it happen
We went 9-1 in 2012. Before that 1972 when they went undefeated to win the last non-national championship stagg bowl. As far as this year maybe not, but 8-2 is still good for a team that was 6-4 last year.
my apologies, I overlooked 2012.
on a separate note, Berg going from '00-06 (4-66) to '11-14 (33-8) was absolutely insane. The youngs today have no idea where Berg football came up from.
now go on and lose to ONU or Etta please

Players couldn't tranfer up without sitting out. LK was the best Coach D3 ever saw and possibly the best ever at any level. Now you're comparing GD to a true living legend. VK is a truly special and great coach who won with LK as the AD, only a few years removed as HC and still helping out on the staff. Who is better than GD, CK, KB? Mount is lucky to have them. Simply sidelining the Machine will not restore performance levels. The team requires additional competitive minutes to identify and correct the problems so they can return to the standard.Quote from: #1OacFan on September 29, 2026, 01:37:05 PMMount Stopped having players that loved football and loved the process.
Who recruits and coaches the players?
Not a whole lot of Machine Era level of players are around Alliance because they do not want to play for or believe in the Head Coach. Facts are facts.
what an AI answer...is this one of Frank Rossi's accounts? lol

Yes. Playing in a meaningless "bowl game" is beneath the Mount Union football program. Dartt has driven it down faster than anyone could have expected in 6 years, but we are not at the level of celebrating mediocrity...yet
Playing in the Swenson's Bowl would be more embarrassing than 2026 has been so far. No chance it would happen.

well that's simply not true. My favorite hobby is supporting my alma mater's football program, which up until 5 years or so ago was the greatest dynasty college football has ever seen. You're either high as a kite or a fan of a program that doesn't matter much if you think my "complaints" over the past few years are not valid.

It's only been the past two seasons that the playoffs have expanded to capture more than three or four at large teams nationwide. So much work was put into giving the other OAC schools an opportunity for postseason play. I truly hope that Mount Union's arrogance would not keep them from accepting an opportunity to play at the Hall Of Fame against a high ranking school from the PAC or NCAC.Quote from: #1OacFan on September 28, 2026, 12:59:38 PMNew Flash, the OAC Coaches aren't voting for Mount Union in a 3 way Tie! then Berg needs to lose twice. Saturday night is the first good opportunity for that. I would hope that Mount declines any bootleg "Bowl" game if we get to that point.

September 28, 2026, 01:38:18 PMQuote from: BergAlum2 on September 28, 2026, 01:27:52 PMBerg Beats Mount
BW Beats Berg
Mount Beats BW
That would be a three way tie right, between Mount, Berg, and BW? And if the other coaches objectively voted, they would have to pick Mount right? If they compared the non-conference play, Mount played better games even though they were 1-1. Especially imagine if Wheaton beats North Central next week, and if Grove City wins out and wins the PAC. Certainly better faring teams than what the Berg or the BW played.
But if they don't put much value toward that and just look at record or points scored or something like that then maybe the odds aren't so great, better run up the score against the common OAC opponents.
The other 6 OAC coaches vote. if one team gets the majority, that's your AQ. If we get a 3-3 tie, that other 3rd team is eliminated and that coach becomes the 7th vote. The OAC re-votes and you should get at least a 4-3.
However, if the first vote goes 2-2-2...that is not in the OAC by-laws. So who knows? The old OAC end-all tiebreaker was a coin-toss, but that was back in the 10 team era.
In the NPI era, I would imagine that coaches would be told to use that metric to get the most OAC teams into the playoff. If a couple of 9-1 teams were playoff locks via NPI, why not stick the 8-2 team into the dance as the AQ? All three teams would claim an OAC Title
Three OAC teams in the playoffs would be best for the conference for sure. But I totally get why the little bros would want to pop big, old, bully Mount in the nose when they get the chance

if Mount's best playoff bet is a 3-way tie at the top of the OAC and basically a beauty contest, coaches vote. It looks like the bar set by Berg vs Muskie is -56.5 for the Raiders.
Are the 2026 Purple Raiders capable of 56 points in a single game? even against Muskie? A rough showing in New Concord might lead to a very uncomfortable homecoming in Alliance the next week.
