Clark is still Clark and bad teams get a draw occasionally against a better opponent, congratulations to Clark.

Wheaton's goalie also had the worst gaff I have ever witnessed topped of by a lack of hustle. Regardless if it was a Noreaster.

Quote from: soccerfan111 on September 24, 2026, 03:42:09 PMWhat's going on with F&M? Haven't caught a game this year yet, but they had a string of 10-12 years of NCAA and fighting to be in the Top 10 nationally. Tough year last year but seems like it's continuing into this year.

Obv. last year they fell off a cliff, but I don't think that was surprise for people watching the team. After 2024, they lost some serious talent. I would say the everything that could go wrong did, but overall they just did not have the talent to sustain what they had done over the years. During the great run, they always had two or three really good players, but most of all they had some serious leaders.

One thing that is new, Coach Wagner brought in 16 freshman which twice as many in most years. Overall, he is trying to figure out the mix. IMO, they have a good keeper and two centerbacks that really solid. Obv. where they are failing is scoring. Only 5 goals in 7 games while giving up 6 goals. If team can marginally flip this, they can get there in the last 8 games (F&M scheduled 16 games, but did not finish its first game bc of lighting).

This year they may have recovered a bit to be a middling team in the Cent. Conf. They need to finish in the top 6 to be in the conf playoffs and hope to be peaking at the right time. Will they get there, mehhh, maybe which is all good.

Yeah, make fun of them not getting beyond the 2nd round. It's all good, but how many of the 415 D3 programs would love to switch places? It's all perspective. Also, while success is important, the F&M alumni are very tight through their time in Lancaster and beyond. IMO, success is important, post college is much more. The team environment is the key part.

Agree the relationships built are more important and it sounds like he deserves credit for that.

In the early twenties it seemed he depended too much on the club he is/was affiliated with and that did him no favors.  I also imagine his attitude with recruits and his Cro-Magnon approach to the game is not appreciated as much in the 20's vs the past.

The coach had a seat at the table. Now that it is up to a computer things are tough in PA Deutsch land.

Most teams that have grass fields have there players do that after a game.  It is funny to hear that E-town does that being the field's reputation.

Detroit (D1) lost to Adrian on 8/24 and then Adrian lost to Hope.

Side bar: how does a u17 and u20 YNT player not see the field at a historically weak D1 program? HC hasn't had a winning season since 2008 and finished below .400 in each of the last 4 years. Edit: Did play 14 games and started twice freshmen year. Maybe was hurt So. year?

I think being on the Trinidad & Tobago sides is the equivalent to being on the Mercer County, NJ all-star team.

Williams

NESCAC teams often start playing conference games early in the season, even from Opening Day, but I don't think I've see a team play three straight NESCAC games to start the season (Bates, Hamilton, and Trinity).  On the other hand, Williams started last season with Wheaton (MA) and then played Tufts (which it beat 3-1!), Hamilton, and Amherst, so this year looks quite a bit less intimidating (especially given how good Wheaton turned out to be last year). In terms of non-conference games, Williams trades Union and Western Connecticut (which it tied 3-3), for Gordon and Hartford.  Starting the season with some of the lower NESCAC teams may come back to bit them in 2026 since they end with Wesleyan, Tufts, and Middlebury.

Middlebury

Middlebury trades out Bridgewater State, St. Lawrence, Thomas, and Vassar for the US Merchant Marine Academy, Endicott, RPI, and Maine Maritime Academy.  I would say that's a downgrade, but St. Lawrence turned out to be a down year and they beat Vassar 4-2, while Endicott is capable of rising to the occasion (including tying Wheaton last season) and USMMA went 12-4-3 last season, while RPI is probably due for a turnaround.  One conference advantage for Middlebury is that they don't have a two NESCAC game weekend.

Do these teams look like they are running away from quality OOC games vs years past? I think we are seeing NPI at work here.  Why challenge OOC when you will have the SOS from conf games?

Your opinion which is fine. Did you have a kid coached by Dan Wagner?
Thankfully not. He was wise enough as an 18 not to.
