I disagree with the selection of the all-tournament pitchers.  I believe that ETBU's Isaac Thornton had a better tourney than Austin Kreyenhagen  -- 6.0 IP 4H 1R 1ER 5BB 8K and 27 batters faced.

QuoteHis line read 12.2 IP, 7 hits, 4 runs all earned, 8 BB 12 K's ERA 2.84  (and 53 batters faced).

ETBU won 5-1 in Game 1 (Thornton pitching 7.2 IP). Thornton left after 5 innings on 2 days rest ahead 6-3 in the "if necessary" game.

Thornton got the win that broke Denison's 44-game win streak. That defeat threw Denison into the consolation bracket. The extra games incurred almost broke the pitching staff.

A tribute to a Schreiner former player (1950)...

I once heard the story that Raymond Berry was catching practice balls out on the field. As he ran his routes, the sideline was not located correctly. Berry was right! The groundskeeper had to re-line the sideline. Berry was that precise in running his routes.

The stat that has impressed me the most is the performance by ETBU RHP Isaac Thornton against Denison.

His line read 12.2 IP, 7 hits, 4 runs all earned, 8 BB 12 K's ERA 2.84

ETBU won 5-1 in Game 1 (Thornton pitching 7.2 IP). Thornton left after 5 innings on 2 days rest ahead 6-3 in the "if necessary" game.

ETBU  beats Baldwin-Wallace 7-6.

BWC and Denison play for the Ohio State Championship and a chance to play ETBU for the bracket championship.

Strange ending in the ETBU Denison game.

With runners on 1st and 2nd, 1 out in the bottom of the 9th, there is a grounder to short who throws to 2nd. The 2nd baseman touches the bag, hestiates on the throw to first and then is taken out by the advancing runner (in the meantime). 2nd base umpire calls runner interference for the 3rd out.

This is after the Denison pitcher is called for 3 balks in the top of the 9th contributing to 3 ETBU runs.

ETBU is victorious, 5-1, breaks the Denison 44 game win streak and advances to play Baldwin Wallace on Saturday.

I am curious about the Castleton move... one public school dominant conference to another in New England. Can anyone analyze the plusses and minuses of the move and the impact of the move other than the number of full members in each conference? Thanks

I too wonder if the "in trust" monies were calculated. The campus is beautiful, well-kept and seemingly up-to-date. I hear nothing of financial trouble at ETBU and IMHO, their devout positioning for a faith-based college education may not be comprehended by urban "sophisticates" but certainly plays well to the parents in east Texas. There are some very silent "deep pockets" in east Texas, the maintainters of those "well-lined" pockets have deep connections to faith-based institutions. There is some 95-year-old deep wealth from the 1931 oil boom here. (Lamar Hunt, Sr's childhood home is in Tyler.)

Quote from: 108 Stitches on May 26, 2026, 10:33:00 AMCongrats to ETBU. The single West team to represent the region.
Both P-P and CMS gave Johns Hopkins a run for its money.

Concordia Texas, the SCAC champion, was the finalist in the ETBU Regional, having beaten Rhodes and Belhaven.

Whitworth knocked out Montclair State in the elimination bracket and probably ran out of pitching in the Finals of the Montclair Regional against Endicott, whom they had beaten earlier in the day. Whitworth was clearly the class of the NWC, but the West Region has shown very well in the playoffs.

Congrats to ETBU who take 2 of 3 from Lynchburg and head to the National Championships.

ETBU was eliminated in 2023 at the Championships by Lynchburg, so this is poetic.

The only other ASC team to win a National title was the 2018 UT-Tyler team, who BTW are headed to the D2 National tourney.

Final score, Game 1 at the Super-Regional in Lynchburg VA,

ETBU 8 Lynchburg 2.

Impressive record by the conference.
Thx

When was the last time that the WIAC did not make it out of the Regionals, in either the super-regional format or the old format? Thx
