Depends on the school. This has been done frequently. Some schools will let you pay for the one class you have left (not a full semester) so the cost is not as big as you might think.

Agreed -- enrolling part time is usually on a per-credit basis and way cheaper than a full semester.

I'll tell you what's different for some other conferences which helps them even at 8-2. That's non conference games. You guys have to use at least 5 wins from your conference so the more losses you have the more wins your using from the bottom half of the conference.

Also, having 10 games helps. Your NPI has to use at least 5 wins, so you can drop your lowest-rated wins as long as you have five remaining.

A team in the NESCAC which goes 8-1 can essentially drop the three lowest wins.
A team in the MASCAC which goes 9-1 can essentially drop the four lowest wins and has a better opportunity to improve their NPI.

We have also been saying that there is a very, very high likelihood that any team with one loss from the NESCAC gets into the Tourney (unless, as noted, we have a 3-way tie). Of course, much depends on the NPI of AQ's (Pool A). If teams with lesser NPI's are AQ's, there may be more higher NPI teams fighting for one of those 11 coveted at-large slots.

That's what I've said all along, including on 9 Weeks last week.

It does seem that perhaps there should be a different way of doing this in a close/tight game. I noted when I rewatched the 2021 end of game video that Jesse Scott was there to hand the trophy to North Central, which is something you can do when it's a 13-point game instead of one that comes down to the final play.

It might not be sustainable to hand off the bell in this way. Seems like there may be something waiting to go wrong.
