June 28, 2026, 12:15:52 AMQuote from: MCScots2013 on June 26, 2026, 09:33:44 PMHow about prior 2 years' average NPI above a certain level gets an AQ? If a smaller conference has good teams then they benefit, if they fall off then they don't get a bid....and CCS, which lost a founding member this year...
Or, pool (with a little "p") smaller conferences in a particular region together and highest NPI between the teams gets the AQ. Looking at you, ASC and SCAC...
Fair point about limiting number of conference members. Remember the USA South a few years back that had schools split off to form the CCS. There was an ungodly number of USAC teams before the split.

I sure wish we could convince them to make the jump from the SAC/NAIA to the ASC.
Same with Wayland.
The travel budgets for the SAC must be brutal.

I saw this and thought...
Dorian Glogovac, CalTech (three years) to Penn.
Is he transferring to the basketball team or to the Wharton School of Business?

June 10, 2026, 03:09:30 PMQuote from: Ron Boerger on June 10, 2026, 12:56:09 PMOn Monday, Southwestern announced its schedule. Non-conference opponents will be McMurry, TLU, and Schreiner. The new on-campus stadium is not ready so the first two home games - McMurry (Sep 5) and Trinity (Oct 10) will be held at the high school stadium that has hosted the Pirates since they resumed playing football. The grand opening of the new "multi-purpose" stadium is scheduled for October 24, construction progress permitting. It's been raining a lot this spring so if that continues into the summer the date could be at risk. Will the new venue not host soccer?
"Multi-purpose" in quotes because the only other sport besides football to possibly play there is lacrosse, and they will (per the release above) use the new facility as a backup. There's no track.
Southwestern returns ten offensive and five defensive starters this year, so should be more competitive than last season's 4-6/2-5 SAA.

Mostly.McMurry tried that. Went to D-2, saw how expensive the T-shirt was, did not buy it, and went home.

I disagree with the selection of the all-tournament pitchers. I believe that ETBU's Isaac Thornton had a better tourney than Austin Kreyenhagen -- 6.0 IP 4H 1R 1ER 5BB 8K and 27 batters faced.
Thornton got the win that broke Denison's 44-game win streak. That defeat threw Denison into the consolation bracket. The extra games incurred almost broke the pitching staff.
QuoteHis line read 12.2 IP, 7 hits, 4 runs all earned, 8 BB 12 K's ERA 2.84 (and 53 batters faced).
ETBU won 5-1 in Game 1 (Thornton pitching 7.2 IP). Thornton left after 5 innings on 2 days rest ahead 6-3 in the "if necessary" game.

A tribute to a Schreiner former player (1950)...
I once heard the story that Raymond Berry was catching practice balls out on the field. As he ran his routes, the sideline was not located correctly. Berry was right! The groundskeeper had to re-line the sideline. Berry was that precise in running his routes.

ETBU beats Baldwin-Wallace 7-6.
BWC and Denison play for the Ohio State Championship and a chance to play ETBU for the bracket championship.
