There are some really good freshman quarterbacks in the league this year. Maryville, Sewanee, Centre and Millsaps (not sure what's going on with Bizjack) are all led by freshman.

Centre might be the biggest surprise of the year though. 1-4 to start—yikes. They completely faceplanted in the second half last night in Jackson.

Finally, a complete game.

51-13 Maryville. All time series is now 18-17 in favor of the good guys.

There will be a first-class ticket for you + 1 from your local airport to McGhee-Tyson Airport and a room at RT Lodge for you to take in the sights and sounds of a Maryville College homecoming.  Might even throw in for an Uber for the 15 minute ride from TYS to campus.

I bought a Powerball ticket this morning so if you hear Maryville's getting their lights and a new gym, you'll know that I'll no longer have Friday Teams calls to cause such interference.

Tomorrow's game against Sewanee has been moved up to a noon kickoff

Yes, sorry.  Upgrades.

Was between Teams calls this morning  ;D

On that point about no lights on the football field: there were lights back in the day, but after one of the poles was struck by lightning, they never replaced them.  That happened some time back in the 50s.  It's kinda cool say in 2026 we still play on grass and have no lights (surely, we're the last ones, right?), but for the amount of fan support we have at home games, we definitely need an upgrade.  I was looking at some box scores last week and the attendance pales in comparison to an MC game.  We should reward the support with a mix of games to increase fan experience (what I really mean is, find a way to play a night home game when UT plays a noon game).

Other than increased gameday experience, lights are really needed to help support travel budgets within the "East Region" of the SAA.  Maryville and Centre just played a night game.  I imagine the buses pulled out of Maryville at 11am or so.  Saved a ton of money not getting a room for the night.  We've also played night games at Berry, too.  Looks like Sewanee has lights, but all games on the schedule are afternoon games.  All three schools are within 3 hours from Maryville.  I'm not saying I want to see Maryville play a ton of night games, but if it helps the budget then so be it.

From my understanding there will be upgrades in a few stages in the next few years, but nothing actually announced.  I await with bated breath.  Maybe at Homecoming in a few weeks?

Forecast is about 60% chance of rain with a total rainfall of 0.75 in. for Maryville. The game can't be moved to Friday—we do not have lights on our football field. Sunday is more rain.

3 yards and a slop of mud kind of game coming.

I was mad...then madder (missed FG)...then enraged (missed FG). Then irritated (shocker: refs sucked. Centre scored in OT and they missed it), finally happy. Rollercoaster of emotions.

I should add: I'm proud of Dabrowski and his development. 3 pretty tough opponents to start his career and leading the offense well in Game 5. He's completed 61.5% of his passes for 1047 yards, 5TDs/4INT. Let work on that ratio,  but couldn't ask for much more from a freshman stepping into that role after Bryson Rollins.

I will pay a substantial amount of money if anyone can get video that Centre actually scored their last 2 scores to tie the game. SAA—GET IT TOGETHER!

I jinxed it. Scoring stopped. At half it's 14-7 Maryville. Centre to get the ball to start the second.

I have to say it. The SAA is putting the absolute worse officials in all of football on the field for these games. This is said after several bad calls going our way! Each game it's like no one knows what the hell is going on. Since when do Umpires line up on the offensive side of the ball?? What have other games looked like? The crews that did the Heidelberg and Macon games can run circles around these SAA guys.

Going to be a barn burner in Danville tonight. Not half way through 1Q and it's 14-7 MC.

First, congrats to him for a job well done. Second, and from out in left field, Southwestern's pirate skull logo is one of my favorites.

Centre's Col. Sanders logo was another old SAA favorite before they switched to a military colonel theme.

Good for students, bad for schools.

Students (and parents if footing the bill) should be made explicitly aware of pending financial issues.  I have no issue there and would probably say other states should adopt similar measures if 400+ schools are indeed up the proverbial creek.

Admissions Offices hate this without a doubt.  News coming out at the start of the traditional second semester that your go-to school just failed to meet financial standards for the last year and a half will make soon-to-be high school grads rethink paying their deposits.
