I would think spring 2022 and fall 2021 for the record books on these stats.

Central up 16-13 at half time courtesy of a missed extra point run back for a safety. High winds out there.

Central wins 37-19. Nice game. Lots of running plays for the Dutch today. Good job Dutch!

Schools are generally referring to this as the 2020-21 football season or the 2021 spring season.

Because of the structure of our website, we are continuing to refer to this as the 2020 season. A school can easily restructure one football schedule and one football page (or do the same for a handful of fall-to-spring sports), but for us it would mean renaming 240-some team pages and all the conference pages as well, so ... we elected to remain as-is.

A spring scrimmage with BV was pretty much a let down to the end of the spring season. It was nice to recognize the seniors that will not be returning though and let them play. Congratulations to those that ended their career Saturday night. Can't wait for the real thing in the fall and hope vaccine levels let us have a normal season. Central is going to be strong this fall, just a heads up!

I saw one heck of a football game in Sioux City this weekend. Northwestern v. Morningside was a classic. Especially fun to watch a few rows from Bub Korver and a contingent of players from the '72 and '73 teams that were runners up and National champs.

Probably one that haunts the Mustangs for years - They had 39 first downs to 19, 40 minutes in TOP, a 244 yd rusher at 6.1 ypc, while holding the Red Raiders to 15 net yds rushing. Morningside was incredible up front on both sides of the ball, but especially on the OLine.

But Kooima was dealing for NWC. 21 - 31 for 490 yds (and I believe none to their AA WR), 3 TD's passing, plus 2 rushing. Two 4th down stops in the 4th Q, one at the 1 yd line, the next around the 10 with under 2 to play. And Kooima threw the go ahead TD pass (while getting hit), with 16 seconds left. On the heals of the game in Des Moines against Grandview, NWC has now beaten the No 1 and No 2 team in the NAIA. Here's to seeing if they can keep the magic going outside the state of Iowa and knock off No. 3 in the title game.

The sad thing is, the eastern side of the state gets virtually no news of those schools.
Coach Finstock - "There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that and everything else is cream cheese."

Iowa to allow beer and wine sales throughout Kinnick Stadium and Carver-Hawkeye Arena this fall.

Any odds that this could trickle down into the ARC at some point in the future?

That would be nice, but I'm sure the additional cost in liability insurance is much easier to absorb with 70,000+ fans than with 700...and with most ARC parking lots within a 2 minute walk from your seat, I bet the prices at the tailgate cooler are tough to compete with at the concession stand.
Although it might be a way to get more students to attend the games... ;D

I was amused by Gary Barta's comment about introducing alcohol sales in Kinnick and other stadia at the University of Iowa:  "...the decision was based on enhancing the fan experience and providing an additional amenity to our fans."  Methinks Barta's budget is likely the largest thing to be enhanced along with the blood alcohol levels of UI students.  Hey, Budweiser, beware; the UI athletics fundraisers will be on your doorstep a week from Monday.  Next, we get kiosks from Riverside Casino near the entry gates, right near the booth where you can pay a player for her or his autograph.  D3 is looking better and better...  Ah, I'm such a cynic.

I think someone on here once mentioned Grinnell put a keg in the stands back in the 70's or 80's in an attempt to encourage a bump in student attendance.  I have a feeling that wouldn't go over in today's world.  Like you said, liability insurance and the lure of just heading back to the tailgate at halftime would nix those thoughts.
