In Region X, I think correctly there are 3 bids to SCAC teams. The West Coast teams had a bit of a down year. The SCAC was salty.

To be more specific, the UST player reportedly imitated the sound and actions of a monkey.
Let that sink in.

The SCAC is an embarrassment to Division 3. Gutless and feckless. And same goes for UST, a Catholic school that supposedly has values they stand for.

I am just sickened by that game....and far more upset than I was after my own team lost yesterday (and I was plenty upset).  UST as a team and school seems to have learned absolutely nothing.  The early red, the antics all over the field, the constant flopping and rolling around and laying on the ground, constant confrontations of the referee, and then maybe the worst display I've seen for PKs (and I've seen some bad ones).  The ref should have given the GK a straight red.  Unreal that he was premitted to do all that.  And then the announcer, the same one who said he saw nothing when UST's first PK taker today broke a TLU player's leg in two, was aghast when UST fouled the Trinity GK in the box and again said there was nothing.  He was so bad he started arguing with his color man.  One of the saddest things is that UST had a fair amount of supporters (including myself) heading into this season after last year's performance and Sweet 16 run.  I was a fan until that TLU game....and now I wish the program would be shut down or suspended for at least two years.

The actions that resulted in the red card against UST are abhorrent; if there was any integrity in D3 soccer and the SCAC they would disqualify UST (they should have been, along with TLU in the aftermath of that decacle). But I am not holding my breath --

The Cooper Sports production was HORRIBLE. Can't believe they pay to have that level of production. Among many mistakes, the announcer kept calling Joseph KURI Joseph Kurl. Kuri is a 3x all SCAC honoree. It is not like he is a last minute addition.

First, kudos to Coach Cartee at CMS. He's a quality individual and glad they have had some success this season

Second, I find it discouraging and disappointing that TLU and UST weren't disqualified in the wake of their debacle for the SCAC tournament. That is an embarrassment, only added by fact that UST I think leads D3 in red cards. Firing the coach isn't a huge accountability thing to players that faced minimal punishment.

Third, Go Trinity.

From Trinity perspective, it is win or go home (no SCAC tournament, no NCAA) Friday night.

I will preface this with I have a son on another SCAC team. But that said it is shameful how the SCAC has(n't) handled the TLU-UST debacle. It is hard for me to fathom that the mandatory minimum is the ok punishment. That will serve as ZERO deterrent or point of accountability.

Interestingly UST players displayed posters with messages about needing their coaches back and that they support their coaches. (I understand the sentiment from college aged kids) but again not a good look particularly by the administration of UST. And the fact UST itself hasn't said anything publicly is just another black eye.

Pollyanna-ish I know, but we should expect more from D3 soccer and its conferences/schools

GK coach for UST will finish out season as head coach.
I find it utterly confounding that to my knowledge no statement, no nothing from the SCAC. That is definitely not a good look.
A 2 game suspension when it falls to bottom half teams in league isn't a huge deterrent IMO

I am not defending TLU in this, but look over the past couple of seasons at St. Thomas. Too many times they are over the edge.
And that was a pre meditated dirty as hell tackle that broke the TLU player's leg.

I don't think anyone in SCAC-land is surprised by the St. Thomas antics.

That was an embarrassment to D3 soccer, SCAC and both schools. My son who plays for a SCAC team was able to watch the back half of the game. He said the dirty challenge definitely broke the TLU player's leg. To me, 2 game suspensions don't send enough of a message. My son also said refereeing left a HUGE amount to be desired.

In addition to watching the video feed of Trinity vs TLU I was able to see in person the Randolph-Macon vs Lynchburg game Saturday afternoon.

That was a great match--Lynchburg won 2 nil but R-M played well (gave up goal in last 25 seconds in first half and an unlucky handball in box). To my eyes Lynchburg is the top team in ODAC and definitely top 25 worthy.

Talk about an experienced lineup--multiple 5th year seniors and I think at least one D1 transfer.

Manke's free kick against Trinity was a banger. Fair play to him.
Lack of discipline killing Trinity right now IMO -- 2 different CBs w red cards in last 6 games.

With loss to TLU, Trinity should still have chance to make SCAC tournament. But regular season title seems to be a 3 team fight at the moment between CC, St Thomas and TLU.
Will SCAC get 3 bids to NCAA? We will see.

For ALL you Trinity fans:
1. Meese was hurt last season; had surgery and hopefully 100 percent for this season
2. Pietr Blank and JC Rule both back for this season--taking advantage of extra covid year
3. On the sidelines, pretty longtime assistant Edward Cartee is the head coach at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (good luck! he was great in my son's dealings with him)

My intel is he is out for the year, and has been in that situation for at least 1 month
