Yeah -- I'm just not going through the work of projecting out six regional rankings under the old system and figuring out how many end up in the 13 at-large teams. Could be all three.

Those three teams were 5th, 8th and 27th in SOS this year under the old formula. I bet they all get in.

Quote from: hazzben on November 17, 2025, 05:31:52 PMI saw Logan post that Wart got done a diservice, essentially treated like a 2 seed in their own quad. He might be right, but aside from NPI Wartburg just doesn't looke like a very elite 1 seed IMO given the stats above.

That said, the MIAC finds itself in 2 of the 3 toughest quadrants ever according to Logan's numbers. If we get anyone to the quarters or beyond we'll have earned it, great chance to reset the recent national narrative about the conference.

Results so far have done nothing to quiet the discontent with NPI. If anything, this bracket is proving to be even more lopsided than was suspected. NPI loved it some Wartburg, and they didn't survive first contact with a Wheaton team that lost 35-0 to NCC (NPI had Warburg above NCC). Obviously a big obstacle to clear this weekend but if I'm UWRF I can hardly believe my luck with what a mess that quad's turned out to be, and whoever gets out of there gets the winner of the clearly weakest quad in the semifinal.

NPI has its limitations but it also cuts both ways. Under the old system Wheaton is not in this field. Neither is UWlAX and possibly UWW, all 2 loss teams. Wheaton would not have had any regionally ranked wins (the old system) which favored 1 loss teams (win %) over most other criteria. NPI can be tweaked (NCC should NOT be the overall 4 seed) but so far it's an improvement over the subjective rankings of regional committees IMO.

Under the old system, with 40 teams, they definitely get some if not all three of those teams in the field.

Still taboo, and the NESCAC Presidents don't want to hear anyone complain about it until 2035.

wait...the JCU coach brought up "running from competition" in his post game presser in round 2?  lol

I mean, it was in response to a question, so it wasn't completely out of the blue.

100% agree here!

Quote from: fredfalcon on November 30, 2025, 09:33:28 PMAm expecting a much tougher game from St. John's than Falcons got from Chapman.Falcons will have to play at the level they did last Saturday to avoid a loss.I think the last game between RF and the Johnnies was a 17-14 last minute Falcon loss at SJU in 2013.

Unfortunately, the seating accommodations at Ramer Field are really bad because rental bleachers are in place in preparation for future replacement. They are inadequate in length and barely rise high enough to see over the players even at the top level.I wondered a few weeks ago when it became known that UWRF would be a host school whether the bleacher situation would prevent hosting.

Regardless, I look forward to seeing a large crowd of Johnnie fans December 6.

It's a perfectly reasonable stadium for hosting. I wouldn't be ashamed of it.

Similarly, just letting you know that we would welcome predictions! Put yourself out there!

So much for the wonderful NPI analysis/rankings 🤪 🤯

BTW, Hansen Ratings had Wheaton as a 5-point favorite.

Quote from: Ron Boerger on November 28, 2025, 10:24:17 AMSpotted a pic of Anson Mount (aka Captain Pike in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) wearing a pretty ratty Sewanee Tigers ball cap.  Is he an alumnus?

In other news, every member of the D3football.com panel picked HSU to win tomorrow's game, all by a TD or more.

Well this aged like milk left out in the sun. GO TIGERS

It's super easy to pick on someone's predictions after the game. Next time, join us in the PRE- part of predictions and save the postdictions for something else.

It was a memorable one for sure. Adam Johnson and I called it for NCAA.com. I don't recall us making any particular value judgments based on what teams work in warmups.

Quote from: stlawus on November 25, 2025, 03:57:06 PMA lot of excuses it seems.

It's all data that some of our 25 voters might deem worthy of consideration.

Looks like you may be looking for us to sort teams by wins and losses -- if so, you might want to look at a standings page.

Regarding Tufts vs. Babson:

  • At Babson
  • Tufts' first game; Babson's third
  • NESCAC schools are not allowed to have outside scrimmages

A voter might react in any of a number of ways to that result.

For what it's worth, the 3-4 people I have asked about the phrase "T2 level national issue" have no idea if that means anything at all. :)

It does seem like ESPN was not properly staffed to make sure all of its streams were running, but seems like there might be enough blame to go around.

Quote from: Crubacker on November 23, 2025, 02:56:51 PMHated to see Morris enter the portal, he was important piece on defense and JJ Davis.  Now, when these guys enter the portal, if they have no takers, can they come back to the their previous school?

Absolutely.
