Last post by faunch - Today at 08:44:44 AMQuote from: DuffMan on Yesterday at 09:01:17 AMUM-Morris, Auggie Tech, Mac, Hot Carls, and St. Scholastica at home? What an awful home schedule. I'll set the over/under for regular season points given up at Clemens at 7.5.
I've been paying for the home game live stream the last couple of seasons...doubtful I'll be coughing up $75 for that schedule. Not really much interest in driving up to Collegeville to watch any of those games.
Total points for the home schedule 150+ to maybe 10???

Region 7 men's basketball / Re: MBB: Michigan Intercollegi...
Last post by TUAngola - Today at 08:26:11 AMIt will be interesting to see if Trine promotes one of it's assistant coaches to the HC position or whether they do a national search. I'm predicting they'll bring in a new coach from outside the ranks. Current assistants are John Wysong, Ed Bentley, Isaac Anderson and Garrett Duffin. Wysong and Bentley probably won't be candidates as they are getting close to retirement and more than likely won't be interested. Anderson and Duffin are both young, in their late 20's, but with not much experience, both have coached the Trine JV, Anderson last year and Duffin this year. Will one of them be interested in the position, maybe..., but I think the Trine program is in a spot where they can easily attract a coaching candidate with a lot more experience.
Trine University has a lot of 'pros' to this position. It's a growing campus with great academics and the facilites are top notch, there is always new or remodeled construction on campus or on their satellite campusus every year, But the biggest con is recruiting, northeastern Indiana is a tough sell to recuits coming out of high school to come to Trine. The NAIA is king here, Coach Miller was consistently losing battles to programs like Saint Francis, Huntington, Goshen, Grace, Taylor, Indiana Tech, Bethel, Indiana Wesleyan, etc, on kids who would be a good fit to his program. That is why you saw an increase in transfers coming to the program over the last 8-10 years or so, to help fill out the varsity rosters. Trine had better luck recruiting Ohio and Michigan kids, Miller's rosters were almost evenly divided between Indiana, Ohio and Michigan players. Starting from scratch isn't going to be easy for the new staff. Most of this year's high school seniors have already made their college choices, so getting someone hired fairly quickly is paramount.

Last post by Flying Dutch Fan - Today at 07:39:47 AMQuote from: TUAngola on Yesterday at 05:05:14 PMI am not shocked by this announcement. Very happy for Coach Miller, he'll do well in his new position at CMU, he's in his prime coaching age, lots of HC experience, so now was the best time to move on when the right opportunity presented itself. He put Trine MBB on the national map, culminating with winning it all in 2024. Now there is some clarity in the Nate Tucker portal news. It's possible there will be more portal announcements. Trine is in the same boat as Indiana...will be a whole new roster for the most part...albeit without all that NIL money.![]()
With such a reduced amount of returning players, it would sure seem to leave a mostly "clean slate" for whoever becomes the new coach. I wonder if that might be considered as a plus for some perspective coaches, and a negative for others.

Last post by OzJohnnie - Today at 02:48:37 AMQuote from: DuffMan on Yesterday at 08:37:59 AMThough I am not thrilled at the caliber of this non-con matchup, I think the first year of the NPI showed us that, with the current "dial settings", wins carry the bulk of the weight, so it's not a bad move, especially considering that SJU needs to fill Syverson's monster shoes.
Correct weight on both points.

Replacing Middlebury with Mass College of Liberal Arts makes the start of the season much less formidable, but they do add Plattsburgh State to the non-conference games.
Illinois Wesleyan
They add Spalding, Centre, and Illinois College and drop Monmouth and Rockford
Cornell College
Of the their two biggest defeats last season (Carleton 1-8 and Wartburg 0-7), Wartburg remains and Carleton is off the schedule.
Geneva
They went undefeated last season, but were upset by Grove City in the PAC semifinals and failed to qualify for the NCAA tournament because of some bad ties and low SOS. Perhaps in a nod to the latter problem, they added Otterbein, but they probably still need to convert some of their ties to wins next season.

So, in the three years from 1975-1977, SJU was 0-2-1 against the Cougars.Forgot about 1975. It was a LONG time ago.

Last post by Captain_Joe08 - Yesterday at 07:14:42 PMGood on Rockford yesterday.
Gonna do a quick rundown on what schedule each team has going forward. It might be 11 or 12 league wins might be the deciding factor on who gets into the conference tournament.
MSOE: at Rockford, at CUW, vs Aurora, vs WLC, vs Lakeland
Aurora: vs Marian, at Dominican, at MSOE, vs Edgewood
Edgewood: at Benedictine, vs Lakeland, vs Dominican, at Aurora, at St. Norbert
Marian: at Aurora, at Rockford, vs Benedictine, at Lakeland, vs WLC
WLC: at Dominican, vs St. Norbert, vs CUC, at MSOE, at Marian
CUC: vs Lakeland, at Illinois Tech, at WLC, at CUW
Benedictine: vs Edgewood, at Marian, vs Illinois Tech, vs Rockford
Rockford: vs MSOE, vs Marian, at St. Norbert, vs Dominican, at Benedictine
CUW: vs MSOE, vs Illinois Tech, at St. Norbert, at CUC
Illinois Tech: vs. St. Norbert, vs CUC, at CUW, at Benedictine, at Dominican
Dominican: vs WLC, vs Aurora, at Edgewood, at Rockford, vs Illinois Tech
Lakeland: at CUC, at Edgewood, vs Marian, at MSOE
St. Norbert: at Illinois Tech, at WLC, vs Rockford, vs CUW, vs Edgewood
Dominican still has an outside shot at a conference tournament bid but they have an steep uphill climb. Lakeland and St. Norbert will be playing spoiler from here on out but the former might be gravitating back to where they were predicted to finish. AU vs MSOE might decided the conference while Benedictine rise up the standings will be something to watch. WLC has two big series starting this weekend to rack up as many wins as possible to feel somewhat confident in their chances though like every team in that logjam, there are plenty of chances to pull off surprising results.
