Great discussion and I wholeheartedly agree with the 3 tiers outlined by nescac1.
Civetti has done great job at Tufts though it's fair to acknowledge that University support helped right the ship.

Another former Bantam who should be on the NESCAC coaching radar is Ben Martin. He played for the Chuck Priore Trinity teams, has college coaching experience at every level (including Princeton, Bryant, Wagner and Texas A&M) and is currently on his second stint coaching in the NFL (Miami and now Cincinnati). He was O.C. and recruiting coordinator at Union and has roots in eastern Mass, so recruiting would be a strength. My guess is there likely won't be a NESCAC head coach opening this year, but he's certainly a name that should pop up when one arises.

Is it realistic to expect an NFL position coach to be looking for NESCAC coaching jobs? Genuine question. He is only an assistant OL coach obviously but it seems like he's headed in a separate direction?

Definitely a valid question. My understanding is that he has applied for NESCAC jobs in the past. He may have moved on, but it would be worth a call to see if he's interested should an opening come up.

Love the Wesleyan- Tufts night game series. Those 2 teams blazed the trail before they even had lights while the other NESCAC ADs with lighted facilities didn't know whether to crap or wind their wrist watches.........Huh, a night Football game??? What are we going to do??

...hoping the NESCAC AD's with lighted facilities who have been traditionally petrified of Presidential, security and admissions factors will continue to schedule creative series which are fun for the athletes and the students and maybe even the faculty  on the many NESCAC campuses.

Looks to be the same order of opponents as 2019 and what was supposed to be the 2020 season schedule. Hopefully there will be an official announcement about a 2021 season soon. In the meantime, tomorrow is May 1 which means we can expect NESCAC schools to start announcing their incoming recruiting classes. Trinity posted on social media that there are 31 players in its new class.

It will be very interesting to see if the league allows for an expanded roster for at least a one year basis because of the number of students who didn't enroll for a semester or two this year. I've heard rumors that the league will allow football players to return to campus earlier this summer to help make up for the lost time of not having a season in 2020.

Fully agree that the night games have been a nice addition. I still love the tradition of a Saturday afternoon game in the fall but hope Trinity will experiment with an evening game in their new facility. It would likely help attendance for games that typically don't draw big crowds (Bowdoin, Bates, Hamilton).

If the schedule is, in fact, what 2020 was supposed to be then the Bantams will christen the new stadium against Tufts. Hopefully, that will be the case and spectators will be allowed to attend!

I expect, or at least sincerely hope, that spectators will be allowed to attend any outdoor sporting events this fall.  Considering that nearly everyone on NESCAC campuses is going to be vaccinated and the risk of outdoor infection in a non-packed arena (which, let's face it, characterizes basically every NESCAC outdoor sporting event) is virtually nil for folks who are vaccinated, I see no reason to prevent participating in and attendance at athletics.  I could imagine some limitations on outside, non-student or staff spectators -- like, immediate family members only, or a requirement to prove vaccination -- but for folks on campus, attending football (or any other games) should not present any issue.

If COVID has a big rebound in November / December, which is certainly possible if our national vaccination rates don't get to over, say, 80 percent, or if people don't get boosters in the fall, indoor attendance might be a different story -- might require masking and social distancing with very strict attendance limits.  But hopefully enough people will get vaccinated that it won't be an issue ...

Was told that roster limit expanded to 90 for this season to allow for returning seniors. Do not know the permanence of that going forward. Also a possibility of additional "practice opportunities". Earliest report would be August 24th (right now 8/28 targeted). Announcements of the recruiting class for Wesleyan coming tomorrow, I think with a highlight play (or maybe 2) for each incoming SA.

Rosters will be essentially limitless this year. (2021). A limit will probably be discussed and agreed upon for new limits, likely 85, according to my NESCAC source.

Trin8-0......wow!...to the Bantams' recruits.  Hope Amherst will pick up some of the "left-overs" :).  There is little info on Amherst's site wrt to commits.....on other Nescac school sites too.  Why the "black-outs?.   Last question here from an uniformed poster wrt to position commits.
Can one gleam from the commits the needs of the football team in '21-22?   It has been awhile from the last Nescac football games.

nescac1

I believe that most NESCAC teams, in the majority of sports, are not in the habit of announcing recruits.  Williams, for example, I think never announces recruits via social media for any sport.  So really, it depends on what the recruits themselves share publicly.

Trinity has brought in, I believe, 90 recruits total in the past three years!  That's wild.  Combined with what I assume will be (at Trinity and most other schools) an oversized class of 2022, with many seniors returning in the fall, Trinity could have a roster well over 100 players next year.  Even with expanded rosters, I doubt anyone else could come close to that number.  It's certainly an advantage for the Bantams ...

lumbercat

If they don't limit roster size Trinity could be the first NESCAC program with guys sharing numbers.
3 buses for road games.
