The SCAC yesterday announced brackets for the upcoming conference championship.  As was the case for basketball, the tournament will be held over three weekends with games hosted by the top seeds in each matchup, which means that the conference championship will almost certainly be held in Colorado Springs the weekend of Apr 30-May 2.  Due to this change the championships have been expanded from the usual six teams to eight.

Per conference policy (reiterated yesterday) no fans will be allowed at any of the games.

#8 Dallas @ #1 Colorado
#5 St. Thomas @ #4 Austin

#6 TLU @ #3 Southwestern
#7 Schreiner @ #2 Trinity

WLCALUM83

TLU/Southwestern:

Generally, these 2 squads are about evenly matched in most team stats--Southwestern was 2nd in in-conference in-match avg digs/set (20.21) to TLU 5th (18.41). TLU was 2nd in in-conference avg blocks/game (1.86) Southwestern was 5th at (1.72). Southwestern had 76 service aces

TLU--Paige Day 10th in conference avg. svc aces/game (0.29/game)-- Weisinger 44 total blocks --avg blocks/game 1st (1.05)  L Morris 3rd in conference in total digs (282).

Southwestern:  Riley Brantley .295 hitting pct. 130 spikes for points  Emma White 136 spikes for points.

Trinity-TX/Schreiner:

Schreiner--1st in total spikes for points (711)  and total digs (1,244) Lofland 1st in spikes for points (209) Beyer 4th in spikes for points (148)

Trinity-TX 2nd in team hitting pct, (.255) (behind CC). 4 Trinity-TX players rank 2nd-5th in hitting pct. (.348 - .323) Leggett 1st in avg aces/set (0.77)

Schreiner took CC to 5 sets before losing earlier this season. Trinity-TX is expected to take this match.

#40
Austin/St. Thomas-TX:

Austin:  5th in team service aces (72) Prazak 4th in digs (280) St. Thomas-TX:  1st in team digs (1,244)

CC/Dallas:

CC:  1st in team hitting pct (.269)  Mullins 1st in ind. hitting pct. (.394) 2nd in avg blocks/set (1.04)

Dallas:  D Whyte 5th in avg spike pts/set (2.93) Delgado 5th in avg digs/set (5.02)

The question is:  Will anyone knock off either the top ranked team (CC) or the 2nd ranked team (Trinity-TX) prior to the tournament final?
