Cole Kleiver from Alma is entering the transfer portal.

Interesting. I wonder what kind of interest he's hoping to get. Sure he can score against D3 teams, but he's a second team All MIAA player as a 6'0" guard with average quickness. Not sure what kind of interest or success that translates to at even the D2 level.

The transfer portal exists for D3 to D3 transfers as well.  It's just a convenient way for coaches and schools to know who they can contact.  He may not be looking to go to a different level - or at least it can't be assumed.

Understood, but also a peculiar choice to transfer to another D3 school going into your senior year. I wonder if it's primarily a basketball decision, an academic decision, or something else...

He'll have two years of eligibility, right? Maybe go someplace cheaper and score more over two seasons?

The two years of eligibility helps this "make more sense" to me too - not like I have any idea why he might be transferring.  Heck, he could end up at another MIAA school for all we know - it's happened plenty of time in the past.

Non-basketball, but hey it was a national tournament:

Hope Hockey won the ACHA Division 3 National Championship last night with a 3-0 win over Arkansas.  Hope got into the finals by beating Michigan 4-3 in OT (after Hope trailed 3-0 heading into the 3rd period).  Games were played at Paterson Ice Center in GR.

Hope's second natty after also winning in 2018.
