With the explosion of popularity in video sharing sites (i.e. You Tube, PutFile, etc, etc) this would be a good thread to start linking video clips of D3 football in action.
Pat may want to add his 2 cents in on any issues with linking video content on the board but in most cases I don't see anyone throw a fit over old d3 football videos.
I'll start it off with the latest clip of my Linfield fan site (www.catdomealumni.com (http://www.geocities.com/catdomealumni.com)):

Wildcat11, when do we see highlights of Linfield vs. Hardin-Simmons, 2006? :D ;) :)
Ralph,
Right now that game is listed for release on Monday April 9th and the Whitworth game on April 23rd. (yes I do have a spring/summer schedule set up :) )
Not afraid to post up the highlights from losses. (unless they are from the SJU games from 2002 and 2003 and that is due to not giving the SJU'ers any more ammo).

FREAKING BRUTAL!!! As much junk I've dished at some Rowan fans in the past...that was just horrible. I *almost* felt bad for Rowan when watching that clip. ;)
I move we form our own Warren Commission and find that the time keeper was acting alone in railing the Profs.
Hmm, yeah, that's kinda the reaction I was hoping to avoid. :)
The debate was played out. We don't know why the clock stopped. Many possible ways it could have been done. I favor the 'second thumb' theory, where someone standing/sitting next to the timekeeper stopped the clock with a second left.
Think about it -- all eyes are on the drama unfolding on the field. Nobody sees the extra hand slipping in.
Having been a ref and an occassional timekeeper... diagnosis is pretty easy. The timekeeper Mac McCadden (I'll never forget that ****head's name), he was busy watching the play, took his eye off the clock and accidentally stopped the clock. Gotta watch both clock and the play.
After the catch, he was failed to realize that he already stopped the clock.
Then the field referees didn't correct it. Really stung. Especially after watching the 2001 Stagg Bowl.
I have the video and audio commentary, but never felt like putting it up.
Still pisses me off. Mac is some sort of hack politician in Roanoke, VA area. He quit being a timekeeper after the fiasco.

Thanks Repete,
Not 100% sure on the history but during the 80's and early 90's was really the golden years of the PLU/Linfield series and they were able to get some games in the T-Dome. I think that PLU had a number of big games there over the years. I know the UPS coach mentioned that he hopes that PLU/UPS games will make it back to the T-Dome in the next few years.

They were coming unglued from then until about Thursday of Stagg Bowl week.
Worst part is I wrote a column before I saw that footage, which pretty much changed my mind.
I'm surprised, JT, you consider it "accidental."
(drudges up old stuff)
I do have a bunch of VHS tapes of 94-97 ODAC games and R-MC highlights. And also some tapes I've been given over the years as research tools, and some DVDs (UHMB!)... mostly Mount Union and Linfield, but I think the Wildcats video quota has been met.
Have all the Stagg Bowls '99-'04, but I'm missing the last two.
Point is, as soon as I figure out how to wire a VCR to a PC, I could really contribute to this thread. I wouldn't feel right profiting off those in any way, since most of them were given to me ... but I would share.
Any techies with advice on how to hook it up?

K-Mack,
In terms of editing gear this is what I have:
500G External Hard Drive (a must if you want to store the huge video files)
Canopus ADVC-110 converter (used to convert the anolog stream from a VCR/DVD into an digital format used to edit. Great piece of equipment)
Adobe Premiere 2.0 (Hands down a top shelf editing/moving making tool)
Adobe After Effects 7.0 (Very new in the collection and trying to learn the basics)
If I had other Stagg Bowl tapes I'd be more than happy to make game review clips but I only have 2004 and 2006.
I have a Mac laptop and a PC. The PC has the most space (I prefer to burn photos/music/movies to disc and then free up the drive space, but I have been told about the external drive), but the video editing software came standard with the Mac.
Hmmm, what to do, what to do?
I might look into this some and see which ways I might be able to make this happen most affordably.
Then again, this could very easily be filed under "things I'll never have time to seriously pursue."

I consider the stopping of the scoreboard clock accidental due to the poor mechanics of the operator. Clearly, he was only watching the play on the field. He needed to be aware of both the clock and the play on the field. Had he done his job properly, he'd have realized the clock was improperly stopped.
The on the field official with the backup game clock is the one who purposely let Rowan lose. He knew and walked off the field anyway.
I have previous experience with both jobs. Someone in a position to correct the mistake didn't have the guts.
I'll take your word for it then.
Part of me still figures that picture should be in the dictionary under defintion No. 2 of "Home Cookin'"

If Mac was a homer, then the official time piece was on a NCAC official's wrist down on the field. Checks and balances totally failed on that rainy day. I wouldn't think a NCAC official mailed it in. I still wish I had their names, but this is where it gets all Warren Commission.
All of the games for Bridgewater in 2001 have the football officials listed on the stats page, except the clock game. I can't find anyone that kept a program from that game. Rowan fans probably tossed it in disgust and Bridgewater fans probably won't give me the satisfaction.
It is also possible that the ref assignments were made late and never printed, but I don't know. I'd be surprised if any of these men still do college football. I've seen great college officials (not me) get their schedule temporarily downgraded for making the right call (proven).
Well, I don't begrudge officials in general, I just thought after seeing the end zone angle that it all happened to perfectly to be an accident. And you're right, checks and balances failed.
And also, this is way over and I shouldn't have even brought it up.

Its OK. After the major anger subsided, I tried to figure out what happened. But if I ever get the names, I'll make em #1 in google. I've been busy in the offseason and my Mac page has slipped, but I'll get it back on page one of google again.
I found "Central College Football Highlights" on Itunes. It contains a seven-minute video and radio highlights from each game. Looks like you can access it from their site also.

Hey,
Nice job allowing us to re-live this year's game in less than 10 minutes. Getting another look at those runs, some of which I hadn't seen since they were live ... wow.
Play of the game:
1) The overturned Kmic (non-)TD/goal-line stand.
2) The Beaver run before the half (I just love him delivering the blow at the end)
3) Some other play.
I just set up a YouTube user group for any of you that post football clips.

My vote for #3 is a no-brainer for me. It would be #73 Sherman's recovery of Beaver's fumble in the end zone giving the Hawks a 17-0 lead and keeping the momentum going in the, "right" direction! ;)

I need some help here. I noticed that many of the plays on the line of scrimmage showed the ball carrier being pushed from behind by a "blocking" running back.
Isn't that a penalty...to push or pull or otherwise aid a runner by physically moving the runner in a forward motion?
Thanks.
Per the 2007 NCAA Football rulebook (http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/2007/2007_football_rules.pdf) Rule 9-3, Section 3, Article 2:
Interfering for or Helping the Runner or PasserARTICLE 2. a. The runner or passer may use his hand or arm to ward off
or push opponents.
b. The runner shall not grasp a teammate; and
no other player of his
team shall grasp, push, lift or charge into him to assist him in forward
progress.
c. Teammates of the runner or passer may interfere for him by blocking
but shall not use interlocked interference by grasping or encircling one
another in any manner while contacting an opponent.
PENALTY—Five yards from the basic spot [S44].
Thanks, Ron. I thought that I saw several TD's (on both sides) that would have been outlawed on instant replay.
The most recent most notorious no call concerning this rule in my mind is the Brady Quinn-Matt Leinart USC-ND tilt.
There seems to be a tendency to call this infraction differently from the goalline as opposed to between the twenties.
Ran into a group of West Africans that were installing a spinning fullback series from shotgun the other day. Didn't get to talk to them, but don't think they're attached to any of the local semi-pro teams. Not sure the historical accuracy of their wares. The play looked part Chuck Foreman part Canadian Football League whip route and less Sammy Baugh. This rule had occurred to me at the time.
Think certain grind offenses such as the Veer fullback ride in the option game have the potential to violate this rule with regularity. The Midline, the speed with which the fullback either takes or gives, elongated fullback stance and quarterback midline maintenance seemingly works to mitigate this concern.

I just set up a YouTube user group for any of you that post football clips.
http://www.youtube.com/group/divisionIII (http://www.youtube.com/group/divisionIII)
The hard part with YouTube is finding other Division III vids so I set this up to help create a spot where D3fans can share their clips.
The group is for any D3 sports videos. Check it out and join up.
I think this is a good idea. The more I search for stuff, the more YouTube videos I come across. Granted, I don't watch them all, but I was thinking we should start to corral them in some of sort of way ... Maybe an ATN mention for YouTube clip of the week, but here you've already gone and done something. Nice.
Have you gotten any response yet?
Didn't take me long to answer my own question. 40 videos and 14 members. Not a bad start!

This topic was talked about right before the playoffs (I think on the rule board?). I was at the NEFC final game where Curry College beat Coast Guard. During that game on many occasions, Curry (a much bigger team), would line up in a wishbone, put in a lineman at fullback, and then sneak it with the QB. The fullback and other backs would crush the line, causing the whole line, (And QB) to go forward at least a yard.
After this game, people discussed it further in the 2007 Stagg Bowl. It was kind upon that the refs simply have not made this call. It should be looked at in my opinoin.

Penalties cannot be assessed via instant replay (with a few exceptions, like intentional grounding). Otherwise there would be a holding call on every review.
