FYI ... to keep everyone in the loop ... If we can get internet access at Glik Park, the entire SLIAC tournament will be live stats .... Stay tuned for an update
Wheaton up 1-0 in top of first over IWU. I fully expect Wheaton to break into the Regional Rankings this week.
anywhere we can listen to this game bigpoppa?
Wheaton needs some clutch hits. They have 13 hits on the game so far and only 4 runs to show for it...

Anyone know why Ramos isn't playing for Augie?
Carthage still batting the 2nd up 6-0. Augustana is making a pitching change. Not a good day for Trotta (1 1/3 IP, 8 hits and 6 ER)
Carthage now up 8-0 in 2nd and still batting with one out and another pitching change for Augustana. Kulig now on the mound for the Vikings.
At the end of five, Carthage up 12-0. Augie still looking for their first HIT, much less run. :o

Here's the article from the paper about the Carthage game yesterday. Jordan pitched great taking a no hitter into the 6th. Kenosha products Drew Roberts and Tyler Eickmeyer both also had nice days. All 3 of those boys are having great first seasons with Carthage.

Wind must be blowing out in Kenosha, 4 home runs already in the Wheaton vs. Augie game and it's only the top of the 4th. 6-5 Augie.

Any livestats at the MWC tourney?
If there are live stats for the MWC I can't find them.
Pitching woes for Augie continue as Wheaton puts up 7 runs on 8 hits in the top of the 4th to take the lead 7-6
9-6 Wheaton over Augustana after 5.
We've got a shootout in Kenosha. 12-10 Augie after 6.

Woo-Hoo... hoping both teams burn up their bullpens! Cannot believe they have ojust finished 6th inning. Slow game may cause a delay of the last game of the day. The 1pm (Carthage/IWU) will not start until about 2-ish now and the last game of the day look to be on track for a about 5pm start with no lights.
Through six innings, Wheaton has committed
five errors...

Hard to have them today with the games at different sites. Don't recall SNC ever doing live stats.
Beloit beat Monmouth by one run.
Tis all I know.SNC beat Grinnell by one run.
Wheaton gets 4 in the top of the 9th to win it, 14-12. Augie is the first team eliminated.
Rough end to the season for Augie. They started out like they were going to have another great year...

Ralph, have you talked with Coach Driggers about the differences between the CCIW and the ASC? I would love to hear his take on the two conferences.

I spoke with Uncle Walt about 3 weeks ago and then just left a message on Uncle Walt's cell phone today. He was having a good time last time we spoke. I haven't spoken with Coach Driggers tho'.
Carthage up 6-5 after 5.
Titans scored 5 in the bottom of the 6th to take a 10-7 lead. RedMen have answered quickly with a single and 2 HRs in the top of the 7th. Now tied 10-10, with nobody on and no outs.
The winner of this game needs only one more win; the loser would have to win 3 straight.
We're again tied, 11-11, entering the 8th.
Carthage gets 5 in the top of the 9th, wins 16-11. Either IWU or Wheaton would have to win 3 straight to keep Carthage from the AQ.
Good news for the RedMen, but for the CCIW it likely makes us a one-team conference. (I hold out some hope if the Titans beat Wheaton and beat Carthage tomorrow before falling, but I fear they have to win 'em all.)
In the 5th, Wheaton leads IWU 5-2 in the elimination game.
Does anyone know what happened in the IWU/Wheaton game? The livestats have been frozen for hours - rain out?

Suspened due to darkness at 5-3... 10 am tomorrow.
MWC tourney results
St Norbert 9 Grinnell 8
Beloit 7 Monmouth 6
Beloit 6 St Norbert 3 Beloit advances to championship
Monmouth 12 Grinnell 2 Grinnell eliminated
I believe the game was suspended at 5-2, not 5-3. The delay doesn't help Wheaton much as Little probably won't be able to throw again tomorrow and who knows what their status is with arms from the Augie game. I would like to think all 4 of those guys would be able to throw again, except maybe Fallon who went just over 3 innings. But, I don't have pitch counts... They may have to pitch by committee if they are going to have a run at it tomorrow.
Anyone know the last time, if ever, the #4 seed won a game in the CCIW tourney???
Wheaton beats Illinois Wesleyan in the suspended game 8-3.
Wheaton downs IWU, 8-3. IWU is out (and almost certainly out of the national tourney).
Carthage up 12-3 on Wheaton in 6th inning in the CCIW title game.
Carthage defeats Wheaton, 12-3.
Does anybody think Wheaton or IWU has the credentials for a Pool C bid?

IWU may have had a shot with a second place finish in the CCIW tourney, but a third place will not get it done. Wheaton made a great run late in the season, but I am still thinking they will be left out. I thought they should have been in the week's rankings, but I am not on the committee to make those decisions. Had they been in the regional rankings, I think they may have had a chance.

I don't think either team has a shot with comparable records of 23-19 and 24-16 respectively. They'd have to have won the tournament to continue post-season play.
IF Wheaton had forced a second game today, and IF IWU remains in the regional rankings (so they'd have a 4-1 record against a regionally-ranked team), I would have said Wheaton was a bubble team. Now I think the CCIW is almost certainly a one-team league.
Congratulations to Carthage, and represent the conference well!
