For Pool A team sports, Houghton helps the E8 with baseball, basketball and soccer for the men, and VB, soccer, hoops, field hockey and softball for the women.

IMHO, the E8 needs Houghton as much as Houghton needs D3.
Sunday play may be the issue for the E8. Houghton does not play on Sunday.

I am sorry for the imprecision of the post. The E8 is not a Pool A baseball conference. Houghton does help to keep the sport as an
official conference championship.
So much for the NESCAC. :D

+1!!
If you go back to the other thread you will see that I reported that Houghton was talking to 2 conferences. The NESCAC and the E8.
Doesn't mean the NESCAC was talking back. I remember the discussion and I give you more credence than someone less connected to the area, but still, the NESCAC and Houghton were never going to be a pair.

No but there were certain faculty and administration members who if they go NCAA want the NESCAC and nothing else and the a couple of coaches are in that group. Some have NESCAC ties. The soccer program is the driving force in all of this and they think the E8 is the best competition for them, also for basketball and T&F X-country.

Even professors and academics can be delusional, though!
NESCAC: Hello?
HOUGHTON: Hey, we'd like to join!
NESCAC: Who is this?
HOUGHTON: Houghton! We'd like to join?
NESCAC: Houghton? Um....
HOUGHTON: Yes, we'd love to join! We'd be perfect for you. Just give us a chance.
NESCAC: I think the pot roast is burning...call back!

In this scenario, how are the NESCAC schools not at least vegetarian, if not vegan?

Since Houghton-Mifflin primarily publishes textbooks, I'm guessing you must be a teacher.

The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Mark 2:27.
A reasonable compromise...
My father was a Methodist minister. When I was growing up, some of our very best friends were Seventh Day Adventist. They were much stricter in their interpretation of the Sabbath. When we would visit them on vacation, Dad would adjust the family's traditions to those of our friends. We attended their worship, and honored Saturday as the Sabbath. On Sunday, we did the weekend things with those friends.
Not routinely scheduling athletic events on Sunday has been a principle in the ASC, with its 12 faith-based institutions. When weather or special events have happened, a special case has been considered. Houghton will hold with this principle, and should do nicely.

With Houghton choosing NCAA DIII, I think that leaves Roberts Wesleyan, Carlow, Daeman, Point Park and Wilberforce as the only remaining (NAIA) American Mideast Conference members who haven't outlined future plans. Tiffin, Notre Dame of Ohio, Malone, Walsh, Cedarville, Ohio Dominican, Urbana and Ursuline all went NCAA DII. Rio Grande, Shawnee State, Mount Vernon Nazarene and University of Northwestern Ohio remain NAIA but have left for other NAIA conferences. Ohio will have 12 NCAA DII schools, including Ursuline which is 91% female and does not offer men's sports at this time and 22 NCAA DIII schools. The NAIA is effectively dead in Ohio with only Cincinnati Christian, Mount Vernon, Rio Grande, Shawnee State, University of Northwestern Ohio, Wilberforce and Lourdes remaining.
